am I the only one that thinks using a save that came from someone else kind of ruins the game? even if you start editing levels and such so it matches it isnt quite right.

I agree with that, but if there's an un-solvable crash in someone's game that they can't get past it makes sense for them to post the file here so that someone can play through to the next save-point and they can continue almost where they left off. It's really the only solution for some people - its not like they're not capable of playing through that part. Sucks for those that can't get the game to play through the iffy bits!

Since the advent of the OpenGL driver... I don't think this thread is even necessary anymore.

Hey guys. Im in need of some help. since my computer is too old to support the movie patches and new codecs, I'm in need of someone to play through the movie sequence that I'm on; The top of the snow mountains viewing the north crater. all you have to do is play through the movie and save right after. Thanks a bunch!

I'll do this in about 2 hours and edit this post with the link unless anyone else catches it first. The only thing is (if I remember correctly) the next save is after quite a long sequence but I'll post the details of what happens after I've played it through.

I clicked on your link, it says "this file has been deleted".

Ok I don't have a crash, but I edited Safer Sephiroth's model but don't have any way of seeing how he looks in-game.  I downloaded a psx save and converted it to pc, but after cloud says li...ght and the screen flashes, I get an error.  I'm going to try it without the opengl driver.. maybe that will work.

If anyone can up a known working save at that point I would appreciate it

I really need some help...I have my game saved right outside Kalm, just before Cloud's flashback at Nibelheim. It works fine up to the point where everyone leaves for Mt. Nibel, the "There was a mako reactor built on Mt. Nibel..." movie plays, it shows the party walking up the mountain path (although the graphics are a bit garbled), and then just goes black. I tried this on 2 seperate computers, one with the custom OpenGL driver and one without, and it crashes on both of them. Would anyone be able to help get me through?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

post your app.log.
If you are using FF7Music, post that app.log as well

I have the app.log as well as the crash.dmp file, but neither seem to offer much information. My app.log is as follows:

FF7 Music gives me this right at the end

That's strange, maybe you should try a reinstall.  It's fixed problems before.

The strange thing is, I installed it on a separate computer with nothing but the standard 1.02 patch...no FF7Music, no OpenGL driver, just vanilla FF7...but it resulted in the same crash at the same spot. I could try re-installing, but the installation on my main FF7 computer (laptop) took days to get working and I'm starting to think I might just have to download a save past that point and edit my stats in.

Try experimenting with the true motion video codec ( See miracle.flames' guide ).. I know this is an old solution but at least you have your options..
In fact I'm still using it right now in my laptop... but nowadays pips are saying its not needed but who knows ..It might help ya out....

Ok, I've officially tried everything and nothing works. Is there any chance that someone could just try and play through the save? Or even if someone has a save at the second part of Cloud's flashback that would work.
