Please help with FF7 Gfx! :) Thanks.

Ok I have read about every post on the boards about the PC version of FF7 and I just can NOT get it to look good.

This is the best I have so far.

Which is a FAR cry from this.

Now I patch to 1.2 and set everything as it says to in the great FF7 FAQ and I get grid lines. The only way I can get past that is if I use the 32bit patch but then my movies get messed up with huge blocks through them.

And no matter what I do it just looks like I dont have any type of AA running. I can even run in software mode and it looks the same as when I have everything set to 2x2aa or 4xaa.

Any advice?

System is AMD 2200 521 DDR RAM G-Force 3 Ti 500 (New drivers downloaded last night) Windows XP Pro.

Did you do the paste and cut thing...with Rivatuner in the FF7FAQ on this forum? The paste and cut thing....don't use 2x2 or 4x....the new options begin with FF...and they are only selectable thru the Rivatuner's AA section. One of the three is supposed to work.

I use a 5900XT card...so it's a bit harder to get working than the G3 and 4's.....but I managed to get it looking okay.

BTW: I don't know if it's just me...but the second picture didn't load.

Where did you get that 2nd picture from? It looks like they have the High-Res model for Cloud:

The graphics don't look as bad as they could be though...

I got it to look a bit better but still no where as sharp as the 2nd pic.

Also Im still getting ugly grid lines all over the backdrops. Like I was saying I can use the 32bit patch but then my movies are messed up. Anyone know a way around this?

This is a known problem, and there is no fix afaik.
I think I heard that the patch to play FF7 in a window doesn't mess up the movies (and it would be 32-bit if you have a 32-bit desktop color depth) but I'm not sure.

Ok I got rid of the grid lines by NOT using the Nvidia check box and setting 8 but texures ON in the Rivatuner and running AA method ff06.

Still no where as good as that pic though. Just what is ff06 ff0c and ff0d?

I can also run in 2x2 but when I run with 4x I get grid lines.

I pill post a new pic

Anyone know how I can get it to zoom closer for a better pic?

For gf3 or gf4ti, 2x2 AA works well on ff7 and ff8.

For fx series, 2x2 AA works well on ff7, but it will cause grid lines on ff8. :)
