Custom Transparent Avatars (Faded edges)
« on: 2011-04-16 22:39:35 »
I did this a while back and I figured I'd share them. I took all the avatars and made them transparent, with faded edges so there is no border around the characters. I also tweaked the look of some, such as Cloud - his hair is more orangy-blond, and his eyes are more blue, and Tifa's pupils are more visible (simple, I know)

They go quite nice with the GUI mod:

Woah, they look great! Good job! I use the 10th anniversary renders (maybe you could do the same with those?) but I'm definitely switching if you upload these.

I remember doing a set of these. Wonder if my post is still here...

Nice avatars, by the way. :)

The smoothed borders look kind of weird and not very harmonious, as if you drew them with your hand shaking A LOT.

Probably because I drew them with a mouse, very close, as they were surrounded by white and I had to get rid of it very carefully - if i got rid of the picture it just made them look weird. Some don't have this problem but Aeris has it very noticeably.

If yer on a mouse, use the polyg. lasso tool and do the fading via mask - will be much smoother.

mask bettur! for the anniversary pics, you'll hafta go pixel by pixel on the edge, dunno if you can do variable transparency, cuz that would help.

I'm not familiar with variable transparency. I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff.

No it wasnt those either im afraid. I knoe w I posted in the thread they were in s and actually  before you posted I thought they were yours.

They are worth finding though, as they are BY FAR the best set of avatars I have seen. That's why Iiimmediately  natched them up.

If I recall correctly at one point the chocobo and sephiroths were unfinished, maybe someone co an find em.
