About tifas weapon:

ALL of her weapons are a separate hand model.  You'll have to edit each weapon manually.  Shouldn't be too hard

Excellent work so far, this is great!

Wow, excellent work!  If that can be doen with the other characters (Cloud would need a bit more liberal editing, i hate that he's wearing Vinnys cloak =P), it would be awesome indeed =)

Troubleshooting / Re: So, uh, Vista?
« on: 2007-02-09 07:05:15 »

So, if someone could look into what would be necessary to distribute the "upside down movie patch" without the installer or with a different installer, that'd be cool.  Maybe I'll do it.  I bet it's just copying and registering a .ax file.  (I'd be way happier to do it if VMware would hurry up and release something that works on Vista and isn't so dang slow.)

What files does the patch install?  I mean, failing all else, just grab the files, zip 'em up, transfer and put them where they belong

Troubleshooting / So, uh, Vista?
« on: 2007-02-08 19:27:38 »
Sorry, havn't been around for a while, but anyway...

I got an e-mail from someone asking if ff7 needs to be patched for Vista.  I wasn't sure how to answer him, sooo....  Does 1.02 work?  Does one need the chocobo patch? (I'm thinking not for some reason)  Will we need new and different patches for Vista?

I'm personally not planning on upgrading, but i'm sure some of you by now have acquired it, so... uhm, thoughts?

Making your own high rez patch will involve cojuling the game code into stretching the backgroudn by non-whole intigers (like 1.33, 2.2, etc) which the rendering engine won't respond to very welll... and, you could re-write the rendering engine so that this wouldn't be a problem, but you wouldn't have room for it (apparently, there's a hardset limitation for how much code the game can have.. for every line of code you make, you have to get rid of another one.  I don't understand the problem 100% myself, but that seems to be the crux of the Saint's inability to make other resolutions).

So basically, you'd have to write a whole new engine.  Which is what the Q-Gears project is all about.  Maybe you can lend them a hand =)

...

uuuhhhhh, that.. that soudn liek a serious problem with your computer, not having much to do with ff7.  Might be a codec issue or soemthing, but, i dunno =x

You may also wanna link D's cheating programs (such as all Yeah!s for tifa, controllable BA/Cait limit slots) and the like.

Good list so far, looks veddy veddy niiize =)

Just hit the PRINT SCREEN (next to f12)  button, then go back into windows (eitehr alt+tab, or quite out of the game), open up a graphics program, make a NEW document (640x480), and hit "paste".

Yeah, the smaller numbers made for effed up (...) and ZZZs... not worth it, IMO.

EDIT: OH, wait, you mean on the bottom?

Turn off AA, that might do it for ya.

Stormy: I should have it on my site... lemme check:

Yup, halfway down under fun stuff; I need to edit the page though, as, obviously, the forums here are back up =)  Should be the latest version, though why don't you just grab it from the DL link on the first page of this thread?

113
TheCrow: You would have to program it in yourself.  For now, the high-res patch is english only =(

because the story tells that Mako soldiers have a green glow in their eyes, as  written here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Final_Fantasy_VII_terms
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Materia

and also I think sephy's eyes are blue here.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v240/theicefox/limit1.jpg

... No, the story says glow, not green glow.  And the article says "particular", NOT "green".  And the game says "strange" glow.  No color is ever said.  I don't think that, if they MEANT for mako eyes to be green, they'd make the dumb mistake of giving both Cloud AND Zack BLUE eyes and keeping them thatway throughout the compilation =P  And Sephy's eyes are green-ish, sorry.  Maybe an aqua... but not blue at all.

Screenshots:

115
... Sephy's eyes already ARE green, and.. Cloud has blue eyes.  That glow.  Why would you wanna change them?  Just because they have green stuff in their body?  Hey, get this: Out bodies have RED stuff all flowing inside... yet peolel still have blue/green/hazel/gray/brown eyes... so... uhm, what?

NO use XP-patch

No language support.  No time to make it.

(sorry if this sounds simplistic to everyone, but, the guy is obviously using babblefish or something, so I'm trying to keep it simple so when he translates it back, it makes some sense)

message detail    Don't bother with it. Someone is coming out with an improved version soon, and i suspect it'll be out within a month or so.

Thank you for helping the ppl on gamefaqs with the npc patch

No prob.  Figure someone has to keep those n00bs inline.  Most of them hear about these patches from toehr websites which host these thigns, yet give little or no credit to the people here, which results in lots of stupidity abound.

And while I'd hate to see craploads of noobs and little kids swarming this place, I'd rather they get their info from here instead of asking on gamefags.

So his hair just stands up?  Pity.

I think ANY limit is going to have that kind of problem, becasue no one else has long, flowing hair... cept tifa and aeris.

...Hmmm, wait, Tifa might work.  Try her limits!

What reunion seems to have done is take a model from another game, and he replaced Cloud with it.  So it's just custom models, using the same bones and animations.  The thread is here:

http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=5828.0

Weapons you'll be able to do, because they don't have animations or anything.  They just sit in a character's hand.

We're not at the point yet where we can import custom models.  Reunion is close, but until he finsihes his custom import tool, you have to use model parts that are already in the game.

Also, you would have to replace an existing character.  I think someone around here has a list that tells you what's what in char.lgp (like RAxx is tifa or something), but i dunno where it is.

Uhm, did you extract all of the files from char.lgp first? o_O

Anyway, new mirror:

http://www.ff7-universe.com/Downloads/NPC_RP_v0_6.zip

had to rename it because my server doesn't liek spaces in filenames.

Okay.  make sure you check the status of the game before applying any patches.  you know, try to get it to play and all that.  If plain old 1.02 won't work, then it'll be pretty obvious that your video card is the culprit =(

« on: 2006-07-20 18:48:16 »
it's more of a "nobody has the time to make a 10000 page tutorial to reply to you" kinda thing.

Look around for something called "gears" (or Q-gears).  That'll get ya started.

Basically, what you're asking isn't simple, and kinda borders on insult.  "Hey, all you people have spent years of time and effort decoding all this stuff... now, tell me how to do it!" =(

Good luck!

...huh.

Ok, uhm, try rolling BACK your drivers to the 88.x.x series.  Make sure you remove the newer drivers from your system first before isntalling older ones.  I mean, unless your new card's archetecture completly does not support ff7s bgs at all.. well..

hmm..

i see you're using the npc recosntruction patch, too.  What ya gotta do is install the high-res patch first.  I don't think the npc patch does anything to teh exe, but try getting the game working with no patches first, then 1.02, then high-res.  Then anything of Dzuigo's if you use it (battle swirl fix, tifa limit cheat, etc), then the npc patch.  So uninstall the game and start from scratch, applying patches in the order i mentioned.

................

wait

1280 by 1024?

No no NO!  Use the NORMAL patch first (1280x960) , THEN use the 1280x1024 on top of that ONLY if you have a widescreen display!
