AGENT: I think that's the part where there's a black screen, and the text goes:

Jenova: "...You are a puppet."

Cloud: "A puppet?"

I don't know where THAT text is stored, but in your editing you may have somehow mucked that part up.

IMPORTANT:

For the "High Rez Cloud", you have the author as "Unknown"; It was made by Dreakon13, at least, according to the readme that comes with the mod.

[edit] Ok, it's fixed =)

Also, how about putting up a link for ff7w?  You know, to play the game in windowed mode?

Or is it too buggy to wanna put in the wiki?

Hmm, ambitious project.  IIRC, someone else is going around fixing typos and other botched translation, but mweh, i could be mistaken.

A -lot- of those file names relate to where they are (anct, for example, is the ancient city, iirc), but as I'm sure you've seen, some of them don't mesh, and a few are actually mislabled... and a few even have dialog for other parts of the game!

However, I've little advice besides that to give you.  I don't know of anyone who's compiled a list for what = where.  I know it's not what you bargained for, but perhaps if you make the list while doing your re-translation, the community will be further impressed by your achievements =)

Also, you might wanna try "Loveless" for your text editing.  Its main advantage over Cosmo is that you can resize the text windows to make them as big or small as you want:  http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=6013.0  It also has a little pciture window so you can SEE which "scene" you're editing =)

for future reference, most of the major mods and projects can be found here: http://wiki.qhimm.com/FF7/Technical/Customising

yeah, well, it would kind of make the whole point of the patch moot, now wouldn't it? =P

Anyway: Any plans to make some of the NPC enemies into Robotnicks minions?  I'm sure theres enough to choose from =)

Troubleshooting / Re: big prob at the end of FF7
« on: 2007-08-10 18:54:41 »
...That's odd.  Odd like whoa.

What's supposed to happen is: We see the scene just before the battle started

Then a movie plays where the characters are super-imposed over the background.

You wouldn't have made it this far if you had a problem with characters being super-imposed over a movie file, so it must be soemthing else.

Anyone know what scripts are called on at this point?  Anything interesting?

Also, do you have your FMVs moved to the HardDrive?  if not, you should, it might help. (http://www.ff7-universe.com/Downloads/FF7Movietweak.txt)

Archive / Re: Play As Zack!! (The Absolute Zack Project)
« on: 2007-08-09 21:24:34 »
It may be beyond the scope of the project, but perhaps you should rescript the text so that "Zack" doesn't have Cloud's identity crisis.  Otherwise the game won't make sense.

Well, most of the errors are in the Playstation version.  These include:

Aeris: "This guy are sick." (Should be "This guy is sick")

At one point, Elena accuses you of "Doing in" Tseng.  This implies he died.  In the PC version, this was changed to "Messed up"

One thing that was never -and could never- be fixed: Cait Sith/Reeve use two distinct dialects which don't show through in English.  Hence why everyone figures out teh reeve/Cait connection at the same time.

Lots of other little things, too, but i don't know many of them, as i've only played the PC version.  Though I think Cait has some bad dialog in Wutai that survived.

Also, Cid swears uncensored in the City of the Ancients, but that's more of a "Whoops, missed that!" than a mistranslation.

Well, i realize i cant anti-alaise it, but maybe apply a blur or something... maybe the movies themselves can be edited *shrug*

A mod will likely intervien, but since your issue is most likely mod related, you should probably have posted this in the Game Tweaking section.

However, you should try running the game without any mods (just 1.02) and see if you still have the same problems.  The high-res patch isn't very demanding.. Evne with it applied, your graphics card is doing far less work than with any other modern game.  However, just outof curiosity, what ARE your system specs  (processor, memory, hd, graphics card)?

Archive / Re: (Possibly) New unused text found
« on: 2007-08-03 04:53:23 »
You know, its funny, but ther IS unused dialog... but that's not it.

The unused dialog comes from a man in Gongaga (who doesn't appear in-game) who gives you two key-items (which are in the games files, but otherwise unavailable to you): Letter to daughter, and Letter to Wife.  The recipients are supposedly the woman/little girl combo in a house in Kalm... they do not respond if you have these key items however.

hmm...

Well, i had to uninstall then reinstall, tehn just go by normal settings (with just the rbg mode applied) and, well, i dint notice TOO much of a visual difference (a tiny bit,..

BUT!!!

I noticed something very much mroe awesome.

The sound in the beginning video NEVER synched right for me before: Now it synchs perfectly!  I mean, it could be other things that i've done since the last time i viewed the vid, but still, nice improvement there!

I'm gonna play with this proggy, see if we can do something about the aliasing =)

Yeah, that looks nothing like the version I have.  I hate codec packs with a passion, but I want to try this trick... hmmm

Luckily,a  google search is my friend =)

hmm, doesn't work, in fact, now i don't get video. =(

What are your other settings?

yeah dude, your instructions don't work.  I'm stuck on this step:

Step 4: Once you have FFDShow installed, you need to open the ffdshow Video Decoder. Under the very first option in the list, "Codecs" you need to right click on the right side where the various types of codecs are listed, and a popup will be displayed that has two options, 1: set all stable formats to libavcodec and 2: Set all supported formats to Xvid. Choose the first option.

I can't right-click anywhere to get any options.

Then again, i don't even have a decoder: i just have a configuration menu

Which version EXACTLY did -you- download?  The Alpha?

Troubleshooting / Re: movie (codec) problem

try getting the upside-down movie patch: it's an updated version of the movie-player codec, and it might clear up your issues.

It's what's called a "false positive".  Anti-virus programs have a list of programs that're viruses, and looks for those file names, or files which are LIKE the ones on the list.  Then there's"heuristics" where an AV program will look for virus-like activity.  In this case, i think maybe there's a virus going around either called "ff7.exe", and/or it shares other similarities (like file size).

People on the GameFAQs forum also noted that ff7 and the High Res patch were giving off false positives. *shrugs*

funny, i use AVG and i haven't gotten any of this yet, either.

Wow, is my page the only place to get the 1.02 patch?

That's bizarre, sad, and funny all at once ^_^

You should make a note about "The XP patch" (and why it sucks =P) just so someone who comes across the page doesn't think you're missing such a  "vital game update" =P

are you running the game windowed or in 32 bit color? because FF7s movie player doesn't like 32 bit color and does the funky black bar thing.

It probably doesnt need to be said, but Cloud's AC sword doesn't seem to go into his hands.  Is that a problem with the sword model or Cloud?

Aeris' staff seems kinda big.. might wanna make it skinnier so she can actually hold it!

It has that black bar anyway due to the resolution of the field camera thingie.  You'll notice that your menu and the world map have no such border, and that in battle you have a smaller one.  It's just part of the port.. dunno of the PSX version did this though.
