Ha ha ha... ok seriously that's bullshit... You're either using a different version of the exe, or you are using non-static offsets, I wouldn't know 'cause my cheat plugin hijacks functions it doesn't use the peek & poke noobness, and as AFAIK FF7 does use DMA.

I think the OK button is the dot in the numpad.

What's up! It's been a while since I posted here.. anyway here's a new build of FF8w, I recoded some parts of the Loader, and created a new FF8w plugin, so grab the new files.

Check the readme for the new hotkeys, new features on the cheat plugin are Save Anywhere (this time I really tested it), and an AP plugin. Some of you reported crashing when you enter battle hopefully that's fixed with this version. :-D

Download FF8w

P.S: I dunno if someone may find this useful, while messing around with the code I accidentally ended up here, it's kind of funny to float on water.  :-P

OOP freaks... j/k

Anyway I think the problem is here:

&m_pcurDir->pNames[m_pcurDir->pFiles.ulNameOffset]

Explaining what's the purpouse of each access could help.

data error (cyclic redundary check)

That means that media is damaged and/or your cd/dvd drive is near dead. Make a backup of the disc asap, otherwise you are pretty much fucked in the ass.

What's the name of the game? Where can I download the PC version of it? Or this was just a personal game that it's somehow ported to a console?

Bots are hard to detect and they were a problem in one of my previous games (a game my company is remaking now for Nintendo DS).

Which game?

I cannot get the windower to work with windows Xp. On the smaller resolution, it opens with horizontal bars across the entire screen, then when i hit enter it says

ff7.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.

On the higher resolution, i get this error straight out. Whats the deal?

You need a new computer...

Anyway, I got two new plugins. Run Patch (I just hate pressing cancel), and Limit Frenzy Plugin. Will release both of them in a couple of days.

Where is this 'script reader' fxn? Also do could you post how a simple 'pop window' event looks on the script?

All right I am posting this 'cause I hope someone has already reversed the text engine in FF7. I really need some pointers here, and some information on how it works, any help would be highly appreciated.

So far I was able to find the fxn, that parses & the one that line scrolls text, along with a "string table" that dynamically changes from time to time. So the question is this... Does anyone knows if there is a fxn that I could easily push the X, Y, WIDTH, HEIGHT, TEXT and will pop my msg to screen? Where is it!?!?... I just hate debugging this tangled code.

Okay, found out the problem is this:

Everytime I play the game and quit, ff7.exe does not stop running in my task manager, even though the game shuts down.  Ending the process will allow me to run the game again though.  But it can get annoying every time I shut it off for half an hour or so to eat and wanna play again when finished.

Anyone have a solution?

You are using Windows 98 Compat Mode, end the process via CTRL+ALT+DEL.

I am hoping if bulk_4me gets the windowed patch up again I can use it to debug Final Fantasy VII and actually follow, step-by-step, the routine that decodes the battle animation file format.

I'll but I am rewriting the whole thing.. stupid Sony discs.

My server is moving, that's why the link is down but PM your email and I can send you a copy. Or if someone is willing to provide a temporal mirror..

@Alhexx: No, a Trainer for Windows 98 may not work on NT 'cuz a faulty/lazy implementation by the developer.

@L. Spiro: Ok.. Seriosuly I am far from new to Online Game Hacking, that shouldn't suggest I consider myself as "uber l33t" or sumthin', but I find the whole concept way to vulnerable. Anyway keep the good work hopefully we will see online FF7 battles.. and a couple of "h4x" for it. :)
