Make sure that you are running the installer as Admin and that your anti-virus software is disabled.
Problem: PSF and Midi files are not a faithful representation of the original game music.
Solution: I have created looping OGG Vorbis files from the official OST. To make this pack a trade-off between quality and size, I have created files with a target bitrate of 192 kbit/s. The OST has superior audio quality to PSF and the original game. It is identical to the original Playstation audio, except that it is higher quality.
As well as the original soundtrack, I have included my favourite orchestral and fan-made arrangements. The installer comes with all needed files to work with FF7.

Special thanks to Luksy who translated the OST names because, as usual, Square's translation service let us down.

Another great project by Mr.DLPB :)
Btw just 1 question from what i read, your going to use the music used in the original psx version and loop it on the pc?
-
not just original psx, the actual official professional OST release which is the psx version :) For most people there won't be a difference between these and the PSF, but get a good stereo system and you will notice it.
The point of this isn't just quality gain, it is mainly to allow for a time when PSF can't be used because I am sure sooner or later we are gonna end up with music playback from the driver and not ff7music.
-
DLPB.
Don't suppose i could convince you to do a 5.1 mix as well (if possible of course)? I'll send you a cookie :D
Does OGG have a lossless codec we could possibly use as well? I happen to have the aforementioned quality stereo system
-
I think ogg vorbis is lossy whichever way you look at it. And no to the 5.1 :P Sorry.
The difference between good quality ogg and uncompressed is very very small... as to be negligible. The difference between PSF and OST is noticeable.
-
Disc 1 is finished and is here (https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B1JH_wU1qqN4YjM3ZDRiYTMtMWFjNC00NWQ2LWJiNzItMDc0MWQ1NGNlMTE5&export=download&hl=en_US).
Should be perfect, aside from the names and the fact bombing mission will need altering to make it line up with barret's animation at start.
It should take a further 2 days before I am done with the rest.
EDIT: THE bombing mission music needs script fixing via touphscript.
-
The reason the difference between PSF and the original OST is noticeable is because the OST was heavily touched up. The PSF version sounds identical to how the music sounded on the original playstation (barring any minor emulation glitches), without the additional mastering that went into the official soundtrack. I agree that the OST sounds noticeably better, but it is technically less accurate to the game (and missing a few songs, two I think).
-
It took me ages, but I worked it out.
0063C29B memory is the area dealing with movie framerate and the bombing mission music start.
This entry below needs to be changed to make the music sync with barret's animation.
0063C2B6 is the compare (compare current frame at 00CC0E10 with value and if the same, play music). originally set to frame 1760 of opening.avi. Seems the porting team patched this into exe, usually all frame comparisons are done in flevel via script.
I will amend this via patch in final installer, and also produce a standalone patch for everyone to use.
edit: the music is exactly 2 seconds out. Change 0063C2B8 (exe 0023b6b8) to C2 and the error will be corrected.
-
I'm glad this is being done at least. Having recently finished a full playthrough I can say looping OGG enhances the experience. I do prefer the orchestral versions where I can get them though - "Main Theme" "One Winged Angel" (NOT THE BLACK MAGES VERSION!!" but this will probably be my choice when it comes out.
No offence to FinalFantim (some of his do-over's are awesome) but that entire remix track is too midi like for me. No bass, doesn't really float my boat.
-
I will add a few of the faves to the project at the end :) I like some of them, so I will create a separate release for the best ones.
-
I do think orchestral is the way to go where possible. I believe that's how they would have sounded if the game was made just a few years later.
Although obviously the originals are the priority.
-
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36889302/FF7/BombingFix.exe
place this fix in with ff7.exe, and run it to correct animation lag with barrett. Then use my bombing mission ogg. Enjoy.
May give false positive to virus.
edit
Well that's one way of doing it... but I guess a better way is simply taking off 2 seconds from start of ogg and fade in.... so it is up to you which you use (if using remix pack you prob need the patch). I will take 2 seconds off I think though!
edit2:
nah that sounds crap too... i've gone for patch + fade in.
-
Anybody out there got a recording of actual psx gameplay using capture card? (not emulator, PC or anything else).
I need it to verify the opening sequence (time just before the music starts at the end of FMV, to just after barret's arm syncs to the music) and every video uploaded to youtube seems to be from a bunch of cretins who don't have a clue what they are doing.
It may also be made worse due to other problems with ps3 emulation etc which delay the music. I need a ps1 recording from actual ps1. (ps2 might do... hell ps3 might, it might just be incompetence).
-
This is a great project, thank you.
How good is FF7Music at syncing with the game though? It's been a while since I've used it, but when I last did it behaved kind of strangely at times.
Don't suppose i could convince you to do a 5.1 mix as well (if possible of course)? I'll send you a cookie :D
I wasn't aware that there's an official 5.1 mix of the FF7 soundtrack. ???
-
Assuming it is set up right, and you have a decent computer, the lag should be no more than 0.3s. Mine is more like 0.1 now.
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=UN908zbMlr8
synced.
I will knock a few frames off that too to make it better :) Just waiting for now.
-
I am scouting for good remix material etc... and other OST.
So far got a few good remixes and tunes, most of the well known ones didn't make it because I think they are crap. The only tunes that made it from the voices of lifestream were Omnislash and Jenova Returns.
Anyway this is good!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNuiL8hB5FY&feature=related
FF Violin :)
-
if you have not done so go search around ocremix.org. their contributors have made many ff7 remixes, some made it on voices of the lifestream others didn't. here is a quick search for 'FF7' about 90 songs
http://ocremix.org/quicksearch/remix/?qs_query=ff7&offset=0&sort=
-
I have looked over em all :) or at least nearly all but cheers!

FF Violin :)
That is awesome! You going to use that for battles?
-
the ones related to VII :) There will be a few choices...
-
After following that link I listened to the FFVII one and it's just as awesome. I never knew about these so thx for sharing!
-
nor did I until a day or 2 ago when I started searching :P
-
Release day = today.
-
OK first release A001 is HERE (https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B1JH_wU1qqN4MzcxNDJiNzQtZDdlOS00Zjg1LTlmOTgtZWIxYzU1YmUzMDE2&export=download)
I still have a few more remixes to add, not least a few by Cindy (who did a few decent ones too) but most of the remixes (like 90+) did not make it for numerous reasons, in order of most common:
1. Crap. As in, you have to have no musical taste to like them.
2. Sound nothing like the original.
3. Don't fit the game.
4. Offer nothing new.
That was the criteria I used, and only a few made it. Sometimes I ignored 3 and 4 if the tune was good.
If you have any suggestions on what I could add, please let me know, but make sure you are not gonna be easily offended if I call it crap, because if I think it is, I will :P I will add only those which I think work.
I have looped and edited them as best I can, and also normalised a few of them to try and maintain a constant volume. I make no promises that this will be amazing but it should be reasonable!
There should be 0 problem with the original OST music, so if there is, let me know!
Since this comes with a patch for ff7.exe to solve the sync at the start of the game, you should turn your antivirus off before using this installer.
Read the readme! The readme is seen on the license page after opening A001. Make sure to set the ff7_opengl.cfg file correctly before use. I will add a program to do this manually for A002.
-
Downloading now ^_^
I'm curious to see if you like the same remixes as I. Two of my favourites to actually use in game are "A Foray into Eastern Horizons" (amazing, and basically just an orchestral version of Wutai) and "Buried in Snow" (the remix from the Lifestream album) though I'm not too bothered about that one.
Good work ^_^
EDIT: Just tested your selection. Working fine, only tested world map and battle but looking good so far. The only thing I would say is that after I installed it I had no music, and had to manually change the out plugin to change to the correct audio output, though I haven't booted the game in a while so this is probably something on my end, I'm not sure if this prog actually changed the out_wave.dll file at all?
-
Something's gone wrong here i installed it with the "DLPB selection" after that i ran ff7 and no music at all whatsoever tried the world, field and battle no music?
-
Is your problem related to Lex's and is the opengl config file set to use the music plugin? (I am making that automatic next time).
I set the outplugin correctly... weird.
@lex, foray is one of the best and is there :P the buried one is reasonable but I don't think fits the game while playing. Plus it is pretty damn different to original.... Maybe I will add it...
What others do you like?
-
I really like the music used in this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szy9zBFuo-8&feature=channel_video_title) to replace Still More Fighting.
-
problem resolved i just used the ff7music in the "ficedula" and worked perfectly, i normally used the desktop shortcut covarr's ff7music program leaves which i play through, looks like i have to use the ugly icon looking ficedula shortcut lol, meh..
The music choice was great thanks alot!
-
Yeah it says that in the readme too! :P to use the ficedula one :) I will place the shortcut on desktop too 8)
ps are you having me on, VGR? That sounds awful haha
-
ps are you having me on, VGR? That sounds awful haha
I'm with you, but judging by the Youtube comments people actually like it lol Personally I'm using the Black Mages version (Although that's the only Black Mages song I'm using).
I'm using http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbfqW__3XlU&feature=related for "Oppressed People".
This one for Costa Del Sol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-i3ZLJZLGq0&feature=relmfu
Shinra theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8NJTHXeUi8
Wish I could find a better, "Interrupted by Fireworks"... I see that you used the OCRemix version which was what I settled for as well.
And finally, thanks for uploading this, I was working on creating my own looping oggs but this saved a lot of time lol
-
I like all 3 of those. I will add them.
-
I will add any additional music to A002, for now this is a bug fixer.
A001b is here (https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B1JH_wU1qqN4YTEwM2JhYTgtYjJkZi00ODcxLWE2MmItMzYzMTc2MjllMGMz&export=download)
I have added the necessary registry changes to this, and the config file changer (remove the hash before music plugin).
Thanks to covarr for the details.
This should fix any silly issues that may arise.
Important notes are in the readme which is inside the installer on the license page.
-
Hi DLPB,
thanks for your work on your music mod.
Here is my personal statement:
101 Prelude problems with the sound quality from here on 01:48
219 Gold Saucer sorry, but i can't here this song anymore, it's annoying
309 Wutai i really love this version
316 Words Drowned by Fireworks Wow
319 Aerith's Theme and again Wow
321 Great Crater of the North Great, a shiver runs down my back
408 Hurry Up! let's rock
Edit 1:
Do you also release the uncut (not looped) versions when you are done ?
I think this is the answer for my question:
I will add a few of the faves to the project at the end :) I like some of them, so I will create a separate release for the best ones.
-
The prelude audio problem is in the original and is not my issue.
-
I've had a look through and I think they're all really good choices (your own ones).
Also, Vgr, pmsl at that slow mo.
Uploader Comments (GarlandTheGreat)
I'm sorry, but the slowmo is damn annoying.
DezuReborn 2 years ago
No need to be sorry, that's exactly what I was aiming for :D
GarlandTheGreat 2 years ago
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
DLPB, I'll see if there are any more cutting about the internet and I'll let you know if they're worth mentioning ^_^. I used to have this amazing piano version of Still More Fighting (not official) and I don't have a clue where I got it from. I lost it years and years ago, but it's irrelevant because it wouldn't suit the boss battles anyway. It just annoyed me that I was never able to find it again!
-
heres a good remix i found for boss battles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoXy-0JhbLA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoXy-0JhbLA)
-
I won't add it to this installer, simply because I have one for the Black Mages in there already, and I don't really feel this adds anything different. It's basically more of the same. Keep suggestions coming though people :)
-
not a fan of of the black mages music just doesn't have the feel to it but thats just me
-
thank you DLPB :D next version can you work with a loop-compatible lossless format?
-
I am afraid not, for 2 reasons.
1. Nearly all people cannot differentiate between lossless and good quality ogg/mp3. They sometimes think they can but when put to the test they fail. I remember these 3 people on an old forum I frequented, continually arguing about MP3 "quality" and which set of options to use. They had no clue how stupid they looked.
2. This is a game, and as such the music should be as small as possible. I don't install a 100MB game to then have 100's MB music :)
Ogg looping is good enough.
-
Here's a version of Judgement Day I made a while back, if you're interested:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeQT9IEqXSk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeQT9IEqXSk)
I also made a version of it which includes parts of Cid's Theme (the one from FFIX) and a little bit of the Shinra theme:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WI0WEi8Tq48 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WI0WEi8Tq48)
Most of my arrangements wouldn't loop well, but those two probably would. But it may be that you don't like them. That's okay, I'm a big boy, I can handle it :D
EDIT: Also, here's an orchestrated version of the intro (menu) music too: http://www.mediafire.com/?wmi8e3h2fxbbgu7 (http://www.mediafire.com/?wmi8e3h2fxbbgu7) I apologize in advance if you've already got good stuff for this ;)
-
I will use that first judgement day one. I like it!
Do you have it as mp3? Youtube will have reduced quality when encoding a second time.
-
dlpb have you checked out the .mp3 remixes that come from ff7remix mod? i tried looking for some of the separately on youtube but to no avail :/ especially the aseri2 which i thought is an awesome remix and still keeps true to the original
-
Send me some links and I will give it a try! :D
-
Sure i'll upload the whole folder will be done by tomorrow
-

I have it as an .mp3 and an 80mb .wav :P Here's the mp3: http://www.mediafire.com/?qa51745t6klpgra (http://www.mediafire.com/?qa51745t6klpgra)
-
If the wav is from original quality, give me the wav :) Since I will be converting to ogg. 8) Zip it up with 7zip lzma2 ultra options or use something like wv or flac.
-
Here you go, the original .wav file: http://www.mediafire.com/?s344ex10be4n1e3 (http://www.mediafire.com/?s344ex10be4n1e3)
.rar produced a smaller archive than .zip so I used that.
-
I said 7zip ;) which is better than rar generally with correct options I stated (in any case this time rar is better it seems). Anyway, thanks for this :)

Hello, how are you. How to download Anxious Heart, I click "download anyway," and nothing happens?

Use firefox... I have no problems with any browser but others have...
-
I have a link to the ff7remix's here slightly below:

-
I've already been through all those and only a handful made it. Thanks anyway though :) On the whole I find them lousy...
-
ah ok
-
The program works fine. Thanks to the authors and UGerstl for your help.
-
I still have a few more remixes to add, not least a few by Cindy (who did a few decent ones too)
I am going to add a few more now and then should release soon. The post above I wrote ages ago but sadly Cindy has decided not to release her remixes (to anyone) or allow me to use . 8)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzPP8JZdvYw
Another addition.
-
Have a good listen to this really awesome:

it's 45 mins long soo i dunno.. whoever made this did a hell of a job :D
-
I love this version but I want to find the best quality! I wish I could use it for my ff7 (and remove the gling sound)
Hexagram - Mako Reactor Final Version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaeqF-8sgEY&feature=related)
that's interesting too

That one will be added too. That guy seems to know what he is doing.
-
A02 is Here (https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B1JH_wU1qqN4TjRqY01SblBXMkE&export=download)
as ever, read the readme on the installer's license page.
A02 08.July.2012
Music added.
Installer now uses my new hex patcher.
-
You know what this needs, some kind of listening preview, so we can listen the songs we want to install and don't have to look in youtube or install and see if a song is good or if is not then reinstall again :|.
-
...some kind of listening preview...
Just install it in some folder other than ffvii and use vlc to listen to the files extracted...
-
Just install it in some folder other than ffvii and use vlc to listen to the files extracted...
That's exactly what I'm doing, but I think it will be much easier if we can listen the songs inside the installer or something, so you don't have to run the installer again to remove a song and replace it with another... or maybe i'm asking to much.
-

Yes it would be easier but i guess that would be more hassle for DLPB orr maybe in the installer where in the readme where it states the songs maybe he could put links next to each tracks to youtube etc so we can have a listen? But still not a big deal
-
I view this the same way I do people asking for screenshots of the Menu Overhaul project... Install it, test it. It will take you a moment... it takes me much longer. 8) If others want to put up samples, do so. The person above who requested this feature could do his part and make it easier for everyone else if he wished.
-

Not sure if your pointing at me but if it is yeah i guess i could if only i could get Bootleg to work on my crappy comp therefore not installing ff7 until i get a new system :'(
-
You didn't request the feature :P

Wow, those tracks from sschafi1 are incredible! I hope they will be included.
-
They are already... that list is the installer list for A02 which is released.
-
Ok cool. I haven't given this a download yet, so I didn't know.
-
Thank you, @DLPB, AH02 works great and I am loving the way it sounds. ;-)
-
8) cheers
-
Found a "problem"
It's small, but the bombing mission song loops at the wrong point. I think it loops back to somewhere near the beginning, where in the original ff7/PSFs with FF7music it loops at a later point in the song.
Again, not really a problem per se, but it's kind of jarring since I know when it's supposed to loop.
-
That is the only place it will loop decently with that piece. It won't loop at correct place because it is not 1:1 with the original and it sounds odd. There is always a reason for what I do. :) :-D
-
I always loved this version of Judgement Day. It's an OC remix called The Twelfth Commandment
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lw3akf_oKo
-
Listened to it, rejected it because it does not go well with the game. Sounds more like a casual tune you listen to in your spare time than music you want at the end of the game. It is a nice tune, just doesn't fit.
-
I can see what you mean.
Any reason the Distant World's Fanfare version wasn't worked in? Just didn't jive well with switching between an orchestra to a midi after the initial flourish was finished?
-
Send example :)
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUOyRbCj5mY
-
Again, don't feel it goes, but more importantly it doesn't add anything better over the original. Also doesn't carry on long enough like original.
I used a few criteria. Unless the tune is amazing, it won't replace the original basically. The most important thing is it sounding good and going well in game, followed by what it adds over the original.

How about this for boss battles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoXy-0JhbLA&feature=related
-
Again, doesn't really add anything new to what we have and already got a decent boss battle :)
-
Erm do you do any soundtracks from anime? If so i think i know a couple that might suit in with ff7 maybe not sure but have a hear if you can buut still don't think it completely fits in but oh well:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKV6lx9crAs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxBvm6IK8KM
-
Good soundtracks, but the aim is to stick to FF7 tunes and the same "feel".
-
I uploaded a looping ogg of the cintro track, since your release seemed to use the long track, instead of the PSX's shorter and more sinister version that's meant to set the mood in shinra mansion (and the music transition and mood shift when sephiroth says "I'm going to see mother" doesn't exist without it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=dlYQGpZlLPU#t=388s)
http://www.mediafire.com/?4ua9pzj1siu1lhl
-
Both the short and long are used in anxious heart. I did both. Both are also used in psx.
-
Really? When I went into shinra mansion it seemed to play the long one. :o
-
Maybe I got them mixed up somehow or didn't assign them properly. Check the folder they are installed into, both should be there. Try to find out for me what I've done wrong. 8-)
-
Theres a couple songs I ended up using that havent been listed yet. I think they fit fairly well.
Fighting -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71zJ6QpuD1I , A mix between traditional and AC
You Can Hear the Cry of the Planet -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrGfnxRo53U
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h4Hcp7YQ4s , this ones a little different. Takes about 20s until the more traditional part. Mixed a little with sephiroths tune
The Birth of a God -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ia88VmAbso , I was never a fan of half the original song
Descendant of Shinobi -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95foJ4ruSug , While not based off the ff7 tune I felt it had a resemblance of sorts and I enjoyed it.
Who Am I -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HojAABkzDrU , I thought this was a decent replacement from the Advent Children soundtrack.
Curious if you find any worthy to add on to the list and they are easy enough to loop.
-
Ok, I see what you got wrong in the release. It's actually my fault for not noticing since I listened to so little of it.
Basically, your 305b is a loop, yes, but it's the wrong song. It's a loop of the intro to 305 - which has a long ringing bell at the beginning, and at 6 seconds and then your 305b loops.
The original PSX version, as well as the one I uploaded - has only 1 bell that rings out for 6 seconds - and then just the background drums for another 6.
You can hear it here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=jKghLSZj5CE#t=385s
A better one here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=ngdWYKa8XxQ#t=9s
-
I will sort it out :)
-
I think the normal psx one is the same in that Nobuo used the other tune, it is just that it has been edited differently. It is simple to fix. I just didn't realise where it looped and when.

Not going to be included but I love this guy! 8)
-
Off topic i'm sure.
But i also love MetalDaniel :P
-
So, is an alternate option going to be introduced for the new PC version?
-
Yes, but someone is going to have to do me a favour, get my file names on one side separate with > and then list the new pc game names. Then I can create a simple bat file that will rename.
I also need to know the registry info that will find the new game and the location of the new musics.
-
I have removed Anxious Heart from google before the swarms of new people needing it arrive and wreck my bandwidth. I need someone in the know to add my next version to torrent. or provide A mirror for the current.
-
The "new" PC game names are the old ones (aseri, aseri2, ayasi, barret etc).
-
Oi, will this work on the re-release?
If so release it quick!
-
The "new" PC game names are the old ones (aseri, aseri2, ayasi, barret etc).
Is it exact? So aseri.ogg ?
I'd appreciate it if someone would put my names on 1 side and the "new" on other. I am busy at mo with sub minigame. And game converter.
-
Yes, it's exact. I'm afraid I don't have time to do it right now, but if no one's done it by tomorrow I'll take care of it then.
-

Cool. Hopefully someone else will get round to it :)
-
I also need someone out there to host the new Anxious Heart (perhaps torrent?). Google docs and dropbox will kill me.
-
id do this but i dont have the files
-
It's ok, bloodshot's on it.
-
i love that guy.guys a work horse
-
I will have this tomorrow at latest. Just got to make sure installer works fine and correct that loop issue in Shin-Ra Mansion.
-
DLPB, I downloaded this PSX sound track package here:
http://www.gamefront.com/files/22128993/FF7+Fixed+Music.rar
And I applied it to the new PC re-release. But there are looping issues. Seems none of the tracks loop. Will you be fixing this issue? Please release soon! :)
Also, this link is dead:

http://www.mediafire.com/?4ua9pzj1siu1lhl
Where did you get that looping version from btw? There is no PSF release and no OST release of it. I can only make mine by using an emulator for PSX?
@above poster. Read posts above. And I do not know why they are not looping for you. They loop fine for me. I do not have the new PC version.
-
Well, my friend had a psx emulator with FF7 set up so when I saw him I asked him to go to that part and recorded it, and then made sure it looped properly with audacity.
-
Guys, I just want to say thank you for all of this. So far *fingers crossed* the ogg files are working great. No looping problems here (yet...).
Also DLPB, I messaged you but you can ignore it (I was an idiot and didn't read the threads beforehand).
-
It's ok, I dont get messages from anyone not on my friend list. I will create my own looping ogg from emulation. I have good hardware here and trust that.
-
Hey again guys. Just FYI, the track called "rhythm" doesn't seem to be looping correctly. Just plays once through and then stops.
Just thought I'd flag it up in case anyone's able to have a look at it. I'll post again if I find any more if that's cool with everyone.
-
These looping issues are nothing to do with my oggs... more to do with the new PC game. There is nothing I can do about it.
Rhythm is The Turks' Theme... and works fine here.
-
Well, it's only happened the one time for me and all of the others are working fine so far... hopefully it was just a one-off, especially if it's working for you.
Thanks again, I was editing them all myself with Audacity for ages until I found this forum. Saved me probably days of work!
-
OK here is what I have done about the looping shin-ra mansion music. Because the PSF and the original game sound so poor compared to the OST, I have used the OST for the bell ring and then phased it onto the drum beat. You can't tell the difference and the plus side is it is the highest quality possible.
-
Sounds awesome. Can't wait to play it. I always did feel that track was especially lacking, even though as I never played the PSX version, the "crap midi" didn't but me so much at the time.
My initial experiences were with a high end sound font capable sound blaster and the yamaha enhancements. Was pretty good, for its day, but a few tracks (like this one) still seemed a little lackluster.
-
God what a nightmare! I've discovered why the intro mansion music doesnt work right with Anxious Heart at all. I accidentally deleted the track from the file list so it couldnt play it.
I will sort this out for the release which should be in next hour or so. A LOT of messing about to get this all sorted.
-
Long time lurker, first time poster, so... hi, and thanks for all the great work.
I purchased the new rerelease of Final Fantasy VII PC, and have used the .ogg files linked to here to replace the god-awful crap Square-Enix included in the rerelease:http://www.gamefront.com/files/22128993/FF7+Fixed+Music.rar
Now, I'm not sure what release of Anxious Heart those files were taken from (or if they're even taken from somewhere else), and I'm not sure if the problems are in the original files or if the person who compiled and posted them (the Readme says Bloodshot) made some errors, but I have quickly discovered a couple issues:
1) The Opening Bombing Run music (that plays immediately after the opening FMV ceases and Barret and Cloud disembark the train) doesn't loop. There are two files that are exactly the same in the tracks included in that link, titled "oa.ogg" and "ob.ogg". In the .ogg files included in the rerelase, "oa.ogg" is the music that plays during the opening FMV rather than being identical to "ob.ogg".
2) The track titled "comical.ogg" plays the Jenova theme. The "comical.ogg" included in the rerelease is definitely not the Jenova theme, so that would seem to be an error.
Just letting you know in case it has any bearing on your release of Anxious Heart compatible with the rerelease, and for the sake of others using the .oggs from that link. If it's not relevant to you, by all means ignore me. ;)
-
All of those things are known. Comical is unused and so is oa (they are never used). Thanks for the report anyway. I will be releasing a full statement at the end when this installer is ready. And yes, he got those ogg's from here.
I will be releasing the final updated set soon, with a few fixes.
Also to anyone else, until I have released the new installer / and set, there is no point releasing "bug reports". I know you want to help and that's good, but wait until the next installer is out and you have read the statement I will release. There are a number of issues fixed with the new release and many more things that I know about, seem to be bugs, but aren't. :)
-
Due to a number of issues, it is taking longer than expected. But it will be done soon ;)
-
IIRC, isn't oa the overworld music before meteor is summoned and ob is after?
-
No. You may be referring to ta and tb, which are overworld starting at different points.
When I release the installer and notes, some of this will be clearer.
-
DLPB, almost done? I'm waiting patiently. :)

A03 is Here (https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0ByaJayPcq6ieZFVEVzVzOWNlRlE&export=download)
as ever, read the readme on the installer's license page.
Please note, if using new PC game (2012), select that option in the installer.
MAKE SURE TO INSTALL TO THE PATH YOUR FF7.exe or ff7_**.exe is in.
IF IT SAYS NEW FOLDER IN THE PATH, DELETE IT.
THE PATH MUST BE EXACT.
I will be releasing an ogg pack soon too, for those who want to just copy paste the ogg's
into the ogg_music folder. Remember though that this project also includes options
for other music.
HISTORY
A03 16.August.2012
Added proper alternate fanfare music (fanfare)
Added alternate highwind music (mogu)
Corrected mistake with cintro music not looping.
Updated installer to support new ff7 (2012) game.
OTHER
The OST did not include a number of musics. These are:
Alternate fanfare (fanfare)
The Planet's Chosen One, looping version (cintro)
Highwind Takes to the Skies Alternate (mogu)
I used PSF for the Alternate fanfare and mogu, but used a mix of the OST
and PSF for cintro.
The following music is not used, even though the files are
present in the original game:
Unknown Name (Comical): This was once going to be a part of
Honeybee Manor, in a comedy scene with Palmer. The final
game does not have this scene and the music does not exist in
the PSX version. (Thanks Shademp for this information).
Opening - Bombing Mission (oa) is the opening music, but with
PC this music is part of the FMV instead. The music file is not
used.
A One Winged Angel (lb2_awe): Final boss music.
Does not seem to be used or present in the new PC game -
lb2 is used instead, same with the old PC game.
Crisis of the Planet (fin): Again, this music is part of the FMV and
the file is unused.
NAMES
I have added these because I feel it necessary to correct
all errors with the original VII... and there are many. I hope
people will start using the proper names for the music.

It was a nightmare updating this installer and making sure the files were right and I am still not sure it is 100%. Keep me posted!
Also note, I now need MIRRORS for this and for the OGG pack for new pc (the pack will be for people who just want to do an easy swap). If anyone can lend a hand, much appreciated. Also need someone who understands torrents, that would be best bet for the pack.
-
I agree that a torrent of these files would be great and I would love to help do this. Especially the ogg pack.
-
Come on who is going to be the first to spot some hideous oversight on my part.
h3ndrix, or maybe Bloodshot if he wants... I will upload the pack shortly. Well, let us make sure that this installer works fine too. Though a mirror for that would be cool!
-
oh and lol at "2012 cash-in"
-
Installer works great, looks great but I am confused as to what ogg files it patched. The ones that come with the new release?
-

It batch files my own. It has to rename them to work with New FF7, as well as move them to correct area. Are the files working in game as they should?
-
are you on aim or gmail or something? skype?
-
See PM
-
Wish I could help with the mirrors.. I have a media server here with oodles of space (though probably not much upstream bandwidth) that I *want* to get a net and email server running on.. but I know diddly poo about how to work in linux.
My friend who could set it up has been procrastinating forever. =/
Is there anything specific you need us to be looking out for in terms of the old standard version install, Or just a general "watch for anything it shouldn't be doing" sorta deal this version?
And thanks much for the update. :)
-
I don't release half assed work (I quadruple checked this)... But mistakes do happen. So if something doesn't work right or is wrong, let me know 8-)

Installed it with the new PC release (though honestly I just installed it into a new folder and copy/pasted into the ogg_music folder so I could preview the alternate tracks from the ones you included and weed out the ones I'm not fond of) and it's working fine so far. Only one very minor, 100% trivial issue: it installed an empty folder titled "Ficedula" for some odd reason.
I'll let you know if any issues pop up as I play, but so far so good. Thanks again for all the hard work, much appreciated!
-
yeah ficedula is a folder that is used for old ff7, but it doesnt get deleted for some reason, even though all the files inside it do. I think it is because it is in use when my bat file tries to remove it. I knew this problem existed, but thought fuck it. It is extremely minor.
-
The following is the ogg's of the OST only (no fan made stuff or anything else) in a folder ready for manual placement into ogg_music folder in new ff7 pc.
I would be grateful if someone would torrent the zip file. No altering the zip file. Just torrent it :)
When it is torrented let me know so I can remove this.
ogg pack here:
Removed for now.
Read the readme.
-
Hey DLPB thanks for the release, I think most are fixed from what I've checked. I just checked ob.oog though and it has no LOOP in it.
-
I have no idea how that has happened. It WAS there.
seems ob has somehow had its loopstart removed. I am getting mighty pissed off now at things like this happening.
I will sort it.
Anxious Heart is down until it is fixed. ob is the only one with a problem. A problem I have no explanation for other than something out there likes to get a laugh at fucking with my mind.
-
*cheers on DLPB with pompoms*
Sorry man, must feel like the world's on your shoulders right now :|
-
I am used to pressure, but I am sick of taking every step possible... and then ONE error at the end that cannot be undone without a reupload. That's what is annoying :) And this file was working fine yesterday. Today, the loopstart tag has mysteriously vanished! Hasn't vanished from any other though. So why this one? Was it special in some way, or is this just to piss me off?
It is back now though. Upload on its way.

I will now upload AnxiousHeart

Thank you!!! :-D
-
This installer is now removed and unsupported. Please wait for the new version which will be compatible with latest Aali's driver and will no longer use ff7music.
-
I created a torrent for the new .ogg files. (For the 2012 re-release)

I'll upload the other in a bit. I have a super fast connection.
-
The zip file has been edited. The readme has been removed.
Please torrent the zip file as was requested, with the readme intact :) And delete the torrent you have uploaded.
I would be grateful if someone would torrent the zip file. No altering the zip file. Just torrent it :)
I appreciate the help but I need it to be the original whole zip file. Not individual files.
-
Oops, wonder how that happened... must have clicked the wrong file.
There you have it. Also It seems Ficedula Music is not responding or reading any of the files for me, a am running on admin mode.
-
Cheers for that!
Did you select old ff7 when installing for your old ff7 game? It reads them fine here? Covarr is the man to ask there though, if theres something amiss he will know :)
-
Gocha, yeah I've gotten this thing to work before. I'll just have to ask him tonight....

^The Anxious Heart as requested.
-
Cheers again! I will help you torrent these until they are in a v good health. Did you upload to piratebay too? Might be wise?
-
Ahem NOPE! Covarr FF7 music works 100%. Yours only seems to play the midi no matter what option... I'm guessing it a root folder problem.
EDIT: Wait no. It seems to be working now. that's weird... I need sleep.
-
I would like to thank everyone for making this. Square-Enix did a very lazy job with the music of the re-release. Before that I had assembled the ultimate gaming PC of 1998 and it included an AWE32 card with enough RAM to load de 4 MB soundfont so I could get the lb2_awe.mid played.
When I read the new release had OGG I thought Square did exactly what you just have done, but alas, they grabbed the MIDIs, the Microsoft Synthesizer and just recorded that over OGG files. How very unprofressional for such a big company, considering they have the resources to do it right.
Thanks again, and I'll keep seeding the torrent so more people can enjoy the game with good music.
-
EDIT: Wait no. It seems to be working now. that's weird... I need sleep.
;D
As for Square, nothing surprises me anymore. If they cared about the fanbase, they would sign me, luksy, aali and a number of other modders here. We do a better job than they do because we actually care. What's more, they'd make more money.
I can't think of anything more damaging than the fact they are using converted midi. That is an INSTANT turn off to people and a deal breaker. How is it a company with that many resources cannot trump 1 dude in his front room with a PC?
-
Now I'm just waiting for someone to crack the DRM, it is very stupid that I have to have an internet conection up at all times to play a game.
Well, regardless, I still have the original game and a system built specifically for it, but still I would like to play it on another PC other than that one.
-
once your logged in once if you dont log out it lets you play
-
once your logged in once if you dont log out it lets you play
Once a man in a pickle jar was time turned to the left? Hahahaha sorry, I had to! :-D
Squall is saying that when you have logged in once, and don't log out, the game will let you play regardless.
-
i do english good. thank you for clearing that up.
-
i do english good. thank you for clearing that up.
8-) Actually I have had no problem elsewhere. Just that one. And I couldn't resist!
-
once again if i ever saw you in an argument id grab a seat and popcorn. you seem like the guy that would listen to them then respond with "you did a good job of backing up your case, but because your case doesnt even apply to this circumstance it is wrong and you should in turn jump off a cliff"
-
There has been relative silence on this thread of late and usually that's a bad sign but with this it isn't. It means there are no bugs or if there are.... minor ones.
-
congrats. whats your next project lol

Retranslation project is ongoing.
New Submarine minigame is almost complete and ready for Menu Overhaul M06
Higher difficulty mod will follow these.
Get rid of Cait Sith is on hold until all of the above are done.
Then I make a story based walkthrough of VII for youtube. Then my days of FF7 are done. In meantime I need to get back to programming my freeware Pong.
-
get rid of cait sith?
-
get rid of cait sith?
A project that is an add on to retranslation, where cait is removed in favour of a human character with a different story. I do not like cait sith, I think he is a dumb silly character in an otherwise great story.
I can't think of a better name than Get Rid of Cait Sith. Maybe Cait Shit.
-
so like inputting reeve in his place or whole new character
-
so like inputting reeve in his place or whole new character
The new character (Skoll Iscarit, not made up on skoll yet but both names are well chosen for meaning) will be a spy still, but will be part of Shin-Ra (let's say some organisation of Shin-Ra that spies/infiltrates). Reeve will remain a separate character :) His dialogue will only be changed so far as breaking the link with Cait.
-
WOOT! The tracks are looping perfectly with the new FFVII PC version. Thank you! :)
-
gonna have to download the update. since the one i found though a youtube video didn't loop the bombing mission song.
Glad to see this updated to support the new PC version :3

Hi I registered to say great work and thanks for this great mod, the game has beautiful music and it will be wonderful to listen to the OST instead of the midis.
A couple of questions if you have the time, I notice that the game has an auto updater, do you think it is possible that this mod could in anyway cause the save file to become corrupted or deleted because of changes in a future patch? Also will changing the files alter my ability to gain achievements?
Don't worry if you don't have the time to answer you have already worked hard on this and thanks once again!
-

These changes do not touch anything but music. There is no way they could affect saves or otherwise. Achievements are crap and shit and we should all laugh at them, but no, this installer or files will not touch them.
-
Thanks for the response and the mod, great work!
-
This post can be deleted since this question is already being answered in the "new to old patch" thread.
I've installed the new to old patch, then the bootleg. Both work fine. After I install the Anxious Heart mod though, I have no music.
First I chose 'old version', after that 'new version'.
In FF7music Anxious Heart is selected.
Does anyone know what I've done wrong? If not, no problem, I am already very grateful for all the great mods I can use!
-
Mod works great on the new re-release and it worked great on the original version installed on another PC with WinXP that I have. However, on an old PC that I have, specifically built for FFVII (has voodoo2, an on-board Yamaha XG card, and also an AWE64 card) it doesn't seem to work. I noticed that on the FF7MUSIC there's a log, on my laptop, when it's working, it will display stuff like texture loading and will intercept the MIDI file requested by the game play the replacement file specified on FF7MUSIC. However, none of that work on my Win98 machine, it will just sit there doing nothing. In the game I either get MIDI if I chose a valid output, or will not get music at all if I choose MPU-401 out.
I notice the AH installer patches the FF7.exe, I thought maybe the patcher didn't work on Win98, so I copied it from my WinXP machine, however that didn't seem to work either.
Any ideas why it's not working? am I doing anything wrong? or the new FF7 music just plainly doesn't work on Win98?
-
Don't know. I did not make ff7music. Covarr may know. As for the exe patcher, see the readme. The exe patcher has nothing to do with your issue.
-
FF7music was originally MADE for win98, so it really should work. Do you have the correct MIDI device selected in FF7Music's settings? I think that's important if you're not using Aali's driver.
-
Yes, I selected the same MIDI device that I select on FF7config.
As for Ali's driver, I can't use it, I only have Voodoo2s in SLI or Voodoo3, none of those will run Ali's driver. At first I thought it was mandatory, but then I got it to work on my WinXP laptop without the custom driver so I thought maybe it was my other PC. I'll keep trying later after I'm out of work, I really want to make it work, because then it'll be a "perfect" version of the PC game.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

About remixes, I remember someone posted a link here to a download of a really faithful J-E-N-O-V-A remix that I liked quite a bit, but I can't find it.
It wasn't from the remastered OST, nor distant worlds or anything like that, just sampled with more realistic instruments, but very much like the PSX version, but I can't remember the name or where I saw it. Anyone possible have any idea what I'm referring to?
-
Can someone put the ogg_music torrent from here on piratebay for me? I can't be bothered learning how it all works to upload.

^mentioned that "fin" was missing.
You didn't read the readme or notes:
OTHER
The OST did not include a number of musics.

Is there an alternative Plugin to play the looping ogg files with FF7MUSIC? I was never able to make it work with the original PC version under Win98, but an older version of FF7MUSIC did work, this version still needed the DLLs and a Cetra patch, I had used it with PSFs, but since they loop forever, it makes the game stutter a bit when resuming, specially on long tracks like the overworld theme. I tried using the plugin that comes with Anxious Heart but whenever music is going to be played, I get a windows error (which I cannot read because I only hear the error sound and the screen is black and I have to hit enter and then I get brought back to the desktop), this only happens when using that plugin.
-
To the best of my knowledge, vgmstream is the only winamp plugin that loops oggs. You could try some older builds (http://hcs64.com/files/vgmstream/) and see if one of them works with Windows 98, but I suspect that it's always required XP or later.

Here is some inspiration stuff for the Aerith-theme, The birth of god and One winged angel
Aerith-theme: http://mp3bear.com/within-temptation-our-farewelll (http://mp3bear.com/within-temptation-our-farewelll)
Hard decision to replace one of the the most popular songs of FF7, :'(
but it enhance the situation
The birth of god: http://mp3bear.com/within-temptation-deceiver-of-fools (http://mp3bear.com/within-temptation-deceiver-of-fools)
It is like Aerith is still with you in the final battle
One winged angel: http://mp3bear.com/final-fantasy-7-the-ultimate-one-winged-angel-remix (http://mp3bear.com/final-fantasy-7-the-ultimate-one-winged-angel-remix)
(pretty sure that you will know it, but i never seen these version around here.)
I'm still searching for a good replacement of Crazy motorcycle.
At the moment I'm using the FFX opening theme from Rammstein - looks cooler this way. 8-)
-
Rammstein didn't do the opening of FFX... that is a myth. It was Nobuo Uematsu composer and I dunno who did vocals. Possibly Black Mages.
-
It sounds nothing like them anyway.
-
Hahaha... I'm sorry, my crystal ball has a scratch...
But honestly it doesn't matter who it was.
I like to have metal in this scene. It would be better to have a metal variant of crazy motorcycle because the lyrics
of the 'non-Rammstein'-FFX-opening are sub-optimal (and it is from FFX)

I would like to know what this modd offers more than the ff7music_installer included in bootleg 0039 ?
-
It's not "more", it's "different". Different selection of music, mainly.
-
Okay, thanks. What do you think of 'bootleg' selection on the FF7music.exe ? It's the option where we have the fantastic black mage theme as boss theme.
Personnaly, I like ! What 'audio modd' do you prefer ?
-
^ I would personally recommend this over Bootleg but if you want to keep some of the tracks from the Bootleg selection just copy em and place it over some of this selections.
-
Okay, so I'm a super n00b when it comes to modding anything. I have the installer downloaded, and (from what I understand) the NEW FF7 - recently purchased from SE. I don't understand from the installer "README" whether I am supposed to install the files in the "/data/music ogg" folder, or just the "Program files86/square enix/ffVII" folder. I don't wanna ruin the game I just bought and want to make sure I am doing this right. I tried reading the read me but I feel unsure. Sorry to bother you guys!
HALP!
-
From readme
Simply choose which music you want to install, and click next/install,
then wait until the process completes. It is important that you choose
to install to the ROOT folder of the game. In other words, the folder
where ff7.exe resides. This installer should locate the root for you.
If using the New FF7, you will have to manually locate the root.
Please make sure the root is 100% correct before proceeding.
You have to select the root. The root is the folder that has ff7 exe in it. As the readme tells you. In your case the folder that has ff7_en.exe.
-
Thank you very much for the help. I think I have it working now, my problem was not checking the NEW version in installation. Stupid error on my part. If I have any further problems I will let you know.
Is there any way we can support this project (monetarily or otherwise) for a job well done?
-
Sometimes it is tempting to ask for donations for all the hard work but then you have to factor in that the soundtrack wasn't created by me and that making money off mods like this one (where I am using the official soundtrack) is probably illegal (I dunno... guessing).
Any case, since I don't know the legality, qhimm's position on it, and moreover I'd feel... bad for asking for donations, the only real support you can give me is a thanks and to let others know about the mod :)

Not exactly true since Qhimm himself takes donations for everything found here. Donations are a bit of a grey area. There are a number of churches in my area that hosts 'movie' night. Where they ask for donations to get a ticket, I highly doubt anyone's hauling the priest off to jail.
-
Okay well I'll tell everyone that I know that this mod is super easy to use and runs flawlessly for me so far. Should you ever take to accepting donations or anything I would love to support the work you do.
My 2 cents on "donations" (pun intended) is that although you didn't create the content - you arranged it and made it readily available. It's essentially what modern musicians do, and a host of them make a killing. You shouldn't feel obligated to take the high road, we all have bills to pay and you put time into this. So thank you.
-
heh, perhaps I will shove a paypal link in for donations next time in readme. people who actually read it and want to can do so, at same time I won't need to look at it and feel guilty :P It isn't really me though. I guess if people want to they can. I certainly wouldn't expect it or require it.
-
May I suggest leaving it at the top so people that don't read it "properly" will still have a chance to see the link?
Cheers.

I can't download this on torrent for the AH.exe, it can't connect to the tracker..

Thanks to you ajthedj747, I have it and I can say : Wooooow, that songs are just awesome ! It changes from my precedent 'bootleg' choice in ff7 music :)
-
Maybe it's just me, but I believe this is Square-Enix's fault on the re-release.
In the Shinra Mansion's basement, usually Vincent's theme will override the battle music and fanfare themes should the player have an enemy encounter. But in this new version the music stops playing altogether for the duration of the battle, and will only resume on the fanfare, then Vincent's theme will resume. Is it just me or Square-Enix screwed it up?

Hey I've been obsessing about looping ogg files lately and I've started by looping some of my favorite FF7 music.
So far I've only done Adrenaylne Kyck from the Voice of the lifestream album.
Was wondering if you wanted it (any the rest that I'm looping) for your AH library.
-
I have looked through them all and didn't add any more, however, once your looping ogg are done I will have another look. tbh it is unlikely I will add any more of them.
-

Regardless, it's finish and it's up here if you want to check it.

-
Have you looped these manually right to the sample so that the loop point is not detectable?
-
Yes... is what I should be saying. They were all manually looped but I found 2 mistakes already =,= (Which I've corrected).
I'm running them all to see if they're are any other mistakes but atm I think it's perfectly looped.
Big emphasis on I think.
Big PS... Kweh (Electric De Chocobo) is something I'm not to proud of and was looped... creatively.
-
I will wait for now anyway. I will wait until Aali has released his latest driver with ogg support for ff7, then I will release Anxious Heart 4. FF7Music is history, one way or another.
-
and how long untill he releases the new driver?
-
Who knows.

The download link is broken, where can I find this?
-
Mako's link is down... so need either Mako or someone else to upload the torrent files.

I have A03b included with the large torrent package for Bootleg. Would you like me to make an individual torrent for it? I may be able to get it hosted on a seedbox as well.
-
Does this not violate copyrights? Distributing the official soundtrack ?
-
Considering the OST comes with the original game and these are looping OGG, I doubt it.

Yeah, need both though, the manual Music Package and A03b. I have the Music Package if you need me to upload that.
The next AH release will be part of the Reunion installer anyway... but for now I need something up in the meantime :)

Yes, please upload the Music Package. I don't have it yet.

Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core - A Flower Blooming in the Slums ~ Aerith [Extended w/ DL Link] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qq2SzNB0oEE)
-
Is this addon going to be updated for the 2013 steam release?
-
It should work with that already, you'd just need to specify correct folder and select 2012.
-
I dont know if Im doing something wrong, but Ive installed AH about 5 times, and every time I reload FF7 through steam, it uses the crappy MP3s instead of the instealled OGGs.
Any advice on what I can do to solve this?
-
If your Steam library is in C:\Program Files (x68)\Steam\steamapps, then you may need to run the installer as administrator.
-
Actually, it seems that after some digging, I figured out that the AH installer just simply installed the music_ogg folder in the wrong location, leaving the other files intact and un-replaced. I swapped the two music_ogg files, and everything is working wonderfully.
Thanks to all for helping me change out that trash remake with the origional!
-
Did you ever get a screen capture of the opening sequence? I have a working copy of FFVII and a PS2 (will just need to dig them out) maybe somewhere even a PSX. I don't have the greatest capture card but will contribute if needed.
-
That problem was solved. The problem was caused by incorrect music start movie frame index. The installer fixes it for 1998 version by editing ff7.exe.
-
Hello, I need some assistance regarding this mod.
I am using the new Steam version of Final Fantasy VII and have installed AH, which is working beautifully for the most part. The issue I am running into is the world map theme. When leaving a town/cave to go back to the world map, instead of starting the theme over as the PSX version does, it resumes it from the point you entered the town/cave. Is there any way that I can change this so that it does not resume? Bonus points if I can make it resume after battle, but not after leaving a town.
Thank you.
-
The PSX resumes if I recall. And why you'd want it to keep starting over every time, I don't know. That also has nothing to do with this mod.
-
I am confused it seems. I suppose regardless of whether it's part of the original PSX or not, it's just my preference. As I understand, your mod uses ff7music to implement the patch so that it will play OGG correct? Also, there must be a flag that tells certain songs to resume or to start from the beginning correct? In this case, it seems like my question has everything to do with this mod. I suppose I should broaden the question. How would I go about changing a song so that it will always start from the beginning while using the AH mod?
If I am not understanding how the mod works, please feel free to correct me.
Thank you.
-
Remembering the position of the tunes has nothing to do with oggs. I am not sure if ff7music deals with it. The correct way for the game to operate is to remember that tune, if there's no option for it in ff7music, you'd need to edit ff7.exe with hex editor or something. You'd need to change code.
-
Wow this is great! The original masters... Can't get any better than this. The quality is way better than the minipsf's. Many props!
All that's left is finding the original sources for the FMV's. Using the fmv's you released already and it sure is a treat!
Kind regards

I can't help but point out, no disrespect intended to the OP, that it was FinalFanTim who did the OSTRe (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=8160.0), no matter who fixes the loop points or makes an installer or whatever :-P
-
He said original masters though, not remasters. I did the original soundtrack into loop ogg. The music from this installer is mine.

Well, that just goes to show how I totally misunderstood this project... AH includes so many options besides what you did with the looping oggs... I am setting up your OST version as we speak because I am pretty sure I never realized it was different from the OSTRe... Eating... foot... now. bleh.
-
All the options in AH were done by me :P All the oggs were created by me and looped by me, regardless of album or source. :-D 8-)

Ah that makes sense. Could you answer one last question for me? AH does in fact use FF7MUSIC right? If so, where does it install ff7music, I can't find it anywhere to see if I can make the changes I want manually. I remember using ff7 music a long time ago on the 1998 version and you could specifically set certain tracks to restart or resume.
Thank you!
-
I can't remember. use search in windows and search for ff7music
-
That's the confusing part, I a full drive search and it found nothing. You did build the installer correct? If you get a chance, could you check and see where you are pointing it to install ff7music and its config file?
Thank you.

Yes, the installer works correctly!
Having already worked with thousands of people, you should be able to accept that!
FF7Music.exe should be in folder "Ficedula".
-
Okay didn't know there was a remastered version. Also found some problems with this soundtrack and don't know if the original source or the ogg quality is to blame.
Which one sounds closer to the source how the authors intended? This, or http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=8160.0 (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=8160.0). I'd rather buy it unless there's a FLAC release.

I'm not sure you really understand what I'm saying. Yes, the installer does indeed work, I am using the mod with no issue. There is no ff7music.exe in the ficedula folder, there is no ff7music.exe on my entire hard drive. I'm trying to understand exactly what the installer does with it. The idea is that I want to make some modifications to ff7music, but I can't do that if I don't know where it's located or if it even still resides on the hard drive after the installer finishes.

Having tested this today, I can say AnxiousHeart original soundtrack is closer to the original. Some problems almost certainly come from the ff7music plugin itself and not this mod. These may never be addressed. I think there's an issue with the sleeping song only lasting a second not sure if there's a workaround; sadly, this was the main reason I didn't know much about this mod.

Did you make sure to run the installer as admin? And best off installing ff7 outside of program files folder. The ficedula folder is in the main ff7 folder. If the music is playing, then it has to be there.
-
Any chance you'll release this in FLAC? Don't mean to be pushy and think your work is great!

I answered this before a few times, and the answer is no for various reasons.
1. If you desire to listen to the tracks in top quality that you can notice a difference you actually need very good ears and expensive audio equipment. Contrary to popular belief, the difference between mp3/ogg 192 and Lossless source is too small for most people to hear without those things, and even worse the older the person gets. FF7 music is not exactly an orchestra piece to begin with, and so it matters even less.
2. If you really wanted that so much you could buy the album and listen to it rather than play the game.
3. Flacs are much bigger than 192kbit/s audio files, and the whole reason for making them small is because this is a game. One of the reasons MGS4 has retarded install times and other problems with space is because they wasted an entire 50GB blu-ray by including uncompressed audio... and 99% of people or more wouldn't have even realised the difference had they not. FF7 is a small game in modern terms, and it's meant to be efficient. Adding massive flacs is a waste of space and simply unprofessional. The small gains you theoretically receive cannot outweigh the increase in bloat (both game and installer).
4. I don't know how to make flacs loop, and I don't know of any dll that can do it. Even there is, it would mean redoing all the music files yet again. Simply not going to happen. What I have released is a professional, sane, and working mod for FF7 that updates the music to be even better than the original PSX game. That's all that is required.
5. Aali's next driver will support oggs, like the new release FF7, which uses his driver. Flac support is simply not happening.
-
Aali's next driver will support oggs, like the new release FF7, which uses his driver.
Not trying to be annoying here but do you know for sure there's still going to be a next one? I'd feint if he released it, but I stopped "hoping" a while ago. If you can say "there will be definitely, dunno when" that would at least be something else to look forward to.
-
I spoke to aali once not long ago and he expressed a desire to get it released. So he must be willing to :)
-

Sounds good to me...
I'm not sure you really understand what I'm saying.
In fact I have misunderstood you ...
As I understand, your mod uses ff7music to implement the patch so that it will play OGG correct?
FF7Music is NOT installed when you use an unmodified Re- or Steam Release!
In this case, the existing OGG files are overwritten by those of DLPB, then that was all.
However, if you a kind of "new to old patch" using, also FF7Music is installed.
Also, there must be a flag that tells certain songs to resume or to start from the beginning correct?
I think without "new to old patch" you'll need to manipulate the ff7_xx.exe...
-
Thank you Kompass! You have made everything clear to me now. Sorry about the misunderstandings. :)
-
Pardon me for asking what may be a stupid question, but after having installed a fresh redo of FF7 on Steam, then using the Mover, then installing the series of mods I wish to use with BFE, I discovered Anxious Heart. I actually have the PSF version of the OST installed, but I'd very much like to use Anxious Heart, as it is much higher quality (obviously). My question is, having used BFE already, when I go to install the Anxious Heart set of music with AH.exe, do I choose Old PC (1998) or New PC (2012 cash-in)? All I want to install is the OST from the master files, none of the Fan Made tracks.

check bootloader make sure ff7music plugin is checked on

In the Plugins tab, Music Plugin is checked and the path is plugins/FF7music.fgp
External Library is checked as well, with it's "path" being Multi.dll

Run ff7config.exe and test sound.
-
Sound test works fine. The sound effects work fine in the game, just not the music.
I also tried running the game after doing the sound test. Still no music.
Edit: Okay, I think I may have fixed it, maybe.....I went into the FF7 root directory and moved the FF7music folder out of it so that the only FF7Music installed is the one in the Ficedula folder. I'm thinking maybe I was supposed to uninstall FF7Music before installing a new one, eh?

Do you have a folder in your game install directory called ficedula? Do you have another folder called ff7music? If you have both try deleting the ff7music folder. Run ff7music.exe from the ficedula folder after and make sure the profile in the files tab is set to OSTRemastered.

I see you didn't notice my edit. I figured that out just about 20 seconds before your post :D
As for the profile, I'm not using OSTRemastered music, I'm using the AnxiousHeart music. Thanks for the little kickstart I needed to figure it out, though :D

Hi
I have a few questions, don't know if they have been asked yet. I did skim the pages before but didn't see it. If it already has been answered I apologize.
I have the steam version of Final Fantasy VII and I have been reading lots of comments that the mods made for the original pc release break the achievements and even might break the game. Can you either confirm or that or do you know it to be the opposite. I know the music files are in fact just a matter of copy and paste so I suspect it shouldn't be to much of a problem if the files are properly named and looped but when it comes to an installer I want to be sure before using and/or recommending it.
The installer. It comes with a readme that says the following "Make sure you select the New FF7 game in the installer". The music setup there, is that the same as the DLPB'S selection and does this also counts for the OGG only zip? And can users still adapt those files themselves?
If the installer can be used by steam users without problems, would you mint if I host those for steam users on my 4shared for those that don't use torrent programs. I have downloaded both packages and will seed them for a while as well myself.
Thanks in advance
Whizzy :-D

I am sorry, I was under the impression that that was about the SE store release. :) that's why I wanted to make sure before hand
-
It mentions compatibility right there on the first post.
It mentions compatibility with 2012 version. I don't think most people are aware that the Steam version is identical.
-
It's probably also here in discussion just a few pages back, but I'll update first post, even though they will still ask.
-
Great work! I am so excited about this! For the 2012 version of FF7 for PC, is FF7music.exe required or can you simply replace the ogg files the game comes with with these ones?
-
Read first post.
-
Ok, I will read it carefully! Thank you so much for all that you do! :)
-
Download the installer and use. You can choose 2012 version in it and locate the correct folder.
-
I had no business asking such a question because I don't even know ff7music.exe is or what it does, I admit. I can't wait to install this! I adore the FF7 OST!
-
Aww.. plz seed somebody. :(

Aww.. plz seed somebody. :(
This should be on permanent seeding.

I was trying the wrong torrent

This is really awesome. I love how you can select the tracks and mix and match from the OST, fan versions, and other professional versions.

This should be on permanent seeding.
I think I am only seeding RaW, i'll download this later and seed. Sorry guys!

It was very fast for me

The installer is removed. Please wait for update.

Can't you put it on a fileupload like site ?

Cheers. Definitely need seeders....
Seeding at work too, We have 25mpbs up here :P
-
Can't you put it on a fileupload like site ?
No. Those have bandwidth limits and this is too large for most of them anyway. It has to be torrent, unless you want to upload it places, but it won't last.
-
This looks good, looking forward to checking it out after the video driver gets sorted out. That's the only thing that sucked otherwise when I was testing the new driver and reunion, the original music is just god awful.
I was able to download it in about a half hour so not too bad, seeding as well so it'll get better.

Installer no longer supports FF7Music.

Please note that my upload speed SUCKS. So until we get more seeders, you will probably have a long wait.
Sorry if this sounds too noob, but after I installed the music seems same... I tried to manually go to the music_ogg folder and find that the music played and the one in game are not same.. Is there any settings I need to tweak when installing or after installation? I am playing the 2012 PC version, and I have set the installer of Anxious Heart to install 2012 version.. Any settings else I need to tweak? Thanks!
-
Not sure how 2012 version operates, but once the files are there it should be good to go.... Were the oggs that came with the game originally in that same place? And did you get music before AH.
-
Hello, hello. I have installed this but when opening it ... I get this error:
Error loading music plugin.
It may be helpful to note that I have the Reunion patch installed. If I remember correctly, I did not get this error when I had the previous version (332MB was torrent size) installed.
Any ideas?
-
EDIT: Oh gosh why did that quote the post above me I'm so sorry! I took care of it! Extra apologies to you superneko!
I'm not an expert at music. I don't generally hear major differences. Even with this I've only heard a few (although fixing that annoying midi problem in later versions as window is honestly worth the price of admission with this thing). But I have to say, Aerith's theme sounds SOOO much better with this. I personally can't wait until the final battle, because One-Winged Angel was completely fail with the midi tracks.
-
When played on a surround sound system or good pair of stereo headphones this really makes a difference. The original music option really sounds great.
-
Hey hey, first post in an awesome forum!
I have the 2012 re-release downloaded from square. Running it on win 8.1 laptop. Game works fine but not AH. When I check the "music_ogg" folder it still has all the original "ogg" files. Here's the rub, all the files I chose from AH is in there as well, except they are "logg" files.
When I play the game it uses the "original" sound files and not the AH ones. Does anybody else have this problem?
Cheers
-
Assuming you used the installer on this thread, you probably didn't read the readme that states you need to run with antivirus off, and run installer as admin.
-
Ah, did not notice that. Will try again tomorrow.
Thx for the pro-tip :)
Edit. Didn't get it to work, tried antivirus off and run as administrator. I will try again with a clean reinstall of the entire game later during the week and keep you guys posted (dunno if anyone else has this problem).
-
The batch file should rename all files. I dunno how that could fail. Any ideas anyone?
-
I solved this problem by disabling my antivirus( kaspersky )
-
Obviously the guy above has still got something interfering with the installation.
-
thanx for this awsome music project, i must ask something if someone knows or sorry if i missed it somewhere, when i am installing AH with bootleg it offers AH original, dlpb, fan and professional. can someome explain to me what is the difference between all of them, oh and one other thing, when i installed everything with bootleg, i have the 1998 version of the game, there is no music, everything else works perfectly but no music except the intro fmv, the sound effects are there, just no music at all, i checked the config, i installed ah at the end of everything. ticked the 1998 version run as administrator disabled the antivirus.
-
I don't get how A04 Release is supposed to work. I have bootleg 040 installed so is A04 necessary to install for new features? If I try install it over my bootleg game with ff7music previously installed, I get "could not load music plugin" error because the vgstream or music_ogg .cfg is nonexistent in the plugin folder. If i change the plugin in bootloader to ff7music.cfg I get no music at all.
What do you mean by...
A04 13.Jan.2014
Installer no longer supports FF7Music.
Now supports new Aali Driver and 2012 versions.
You say in your first post it also installs ff7music but now it doesn't support it? Does this release work independently and does NOT use the ff7music.exe but instead loads the files directly?
Basically, how the hell do you get this working with Tifa's Bootleg? Do i need to update the Aali driver etc? Everything seems so vague FFS
-
Works with Aali's latest driver. Does not install ff7music. I have so much to do that I missed updating the first post properly.
It isn't vague.
RUN THE INSTALLER. Download it from the first post, and then run it. It's that simple. If something doesn't work after that, it's because Aali's driver is not installed properly, you installed to wrong place (read the readme), or you didn't run the installer as admin with your antivirus OFF.
This installer should be run separate to anything else. It doesn't need "Bootleg".
-
Don't ever run another mod's installer after Bootleg has been used. There are Anxious Hearts options set in Bootleg (A03b), and until we release the next update, those are what must be used.
-
I know I should not be mixing mods, but the reason I really wanted to NOT use ff7music is that I found it buggy with music lagging, cutting and bugging out. After continuous gameplay the music sync and issues eventually get worse and worse. I'm not sure if this is a common problem but it's really annoying.
So I now understand A04 Release needs Aali's Latest Driver which was outdated in Bootleg 040 and it does not require ff7music to run anymore. This is why the .cfg was invalid and could not be found. I can actually get it working but alas the new release of Aali's driver now breaks the new battle interface mod installed by bootleg, massive black bar where the battle menu is. And trying to install another battle interface via Reunion/Team Avalanche will probably break something else since it will override bootleg 040's settings? Sigh, I guess I will wait for an updated bootleg in that case and bear with the buggy music.
And I didn't want to sound mean when I said vague, it wasn't aimed at you directly but rather my frustration with the majority of the mods on here. In comparison to say modding a game like Skyrim which comes with a much larger community + mod manager, trying to get things to work here is more of a headache. A couple things they really do well there is emphasizing full install instructions, preview pictures/video and FAQ etc.
-
Your problem is the reason I install only the things I like and from scratch. The mods I created were designed to work together. I have never used bootleg so I can't tell you how that works, or the problems it has.
I only know I use the following: Reunion + Anxious Heart + new Aali driver.
That's it :) The hardcore mod should be okay if installed before Reunion, but other than that, there may be issues.
Some mods are never going to work well together.
All of my installers are designed to be used on their own.
-
Reunion + AH + new Aali + 7thHeaven for textures sounds like a good combination.
-
Having some trouble getting AH to work after installing Aali's drivers and Reunion. The OGG files seem to have extracted just fine to /music/vgmstream, but I'm still getting an "error loading music plugin" message and lackluster MIDI sound when I run the game. I'm guessing it has something to do with my opengl.cfg file settings:
# plugin used to play music, the FF7Music plugin MUST be enabled for FF7Music to work.
# If no music plugin is loaded the game will play MIDI as usual but FF7Music will NOT work.
music_plugin = plugins\vgmstream_music.fgp
As far as I can see, there is no vgmstream_music.fgp in my plugins folder. There is, oddly enough, a ff7music.fgp. If I direct the config file to it, the music simply cuts out completely.
-
Ah, I think I see. I may have skipped a step when installing Aali's drivers. I'll reinstall from scratch and give it another shot tomorrow. I am a bit concerned about running everything in the correct order, however. Is the following general sequence correct, or am I missing something?
Install FF7 from Steam ---> Copy and convert the game to the 1.02 English version using FF7 Game Converter ---> Install latest version of Aali's drivers ---> Install Reunion ---> Install Anxious Hearts
Am I at least on the right track here?
-
If you don't use any other texture or mods
That's how i did and works fine
Oh, and you should turn off any anti-virus and run AH.exe as admin
-
Ok, I think I see the problem.
It seems that the FF7 Converter automatically includes Aali's drivers v 0.7.11b (at least, I believe so; the documentation in the thread is a bit unclear - http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=14047.0 )
If that's the case, then I imagine that installing the newest version of Aali's drivers (upon which Reunion depends) on top of it would cause a problem. Is this likely the culprit? If so, is there any way around it?
-
Anxious Heart supports the new version of Aali's driver only. There is no way round that except to use the new version.
-
Mm, I suspected as much. Then it appears my problem is that the only tool that converts Steam FF7 to the moddable 1998 version automatically installs an obsolete version of Aali's drivers.
One solution might be to cut out the conversion, then. I'll see if I can get a hold of a fresh 1998 version and start from there.

Or just install Aali's new driver (8.1b) after converting the game...
-
The new drivers can be installed on top of the old ones? I thought doing that might have been my problem the first time.
Could be I just installed Aali's drivers incorrectly.

It seems that the FF7 Converter automatically includes Aali's drivers v 0.7.11b (at least, I believe so; the documentation in the thread is a bit unclear - http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=14047.0 )
I wrote there
UNZIP NOT Aalis driver 0.7.11b into the game folder. (included with "Everything is made of light" Fix)
What exactly do I have to write, so that is clear?
If your game folder is not in a system folder (ie not in "My Documents", not as a folder on the desktop, not in "Program Files" or similar), you can Aalis driver 0.8.1b unzip directly into the game folder.
Overwrite the already existing files there.
Then you must edit the file "ff7_opengl.reg" (right click on it and choose Edit).
Find the line
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\VirtualStore\Machine\SOFTWARE\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII\1.00\Graphics]
and replace with
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\VirtualStore\Machine\SOFTWARE\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII\1.00\Graphics]
Also find the line
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\VirtualStore\Machine\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII\1.00\Graphics]
and replace with
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\VirtualStore\Machine\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII\1.00\Graphics]
Then save the file and load it right again into your Editor, to make sure that the changes were really saved.
After that you edit the file "ff7_opengl.cfg" and re adding this line:
load_library = Multi.dll
Now Aalis driver 0.8.1b is integrated and you can install other mods.
-
@panjshirlion Your issue has nothing to do with Anxious Heart, which is working perfectly.
Please take all Aali driver stuff to his thread. :)
-
So going back to the uploader issue thing ever think of getting dropbox and send it that way?
-
This has to be sent by torrent. As I've said a few times, no site will allow the bandwidth to download a file this size (the link will be cancelled). Especially not dropbox.
This is staying as a torrent, permanently.
-
hm I've sent exe from it before namely the main ff7.exe. At any rate they torrent might be corrupt as it wouldn't install. I'm trying it again and I believe I have the driver but I'll double check.
-

Hey hey again!
I've tried a clean install while the antivirus was inactive and the same with AH + run as admin ofc :)
Unfortunately nothing changed and the funny part is that it's working fine on my stationary computer, it is only the laptop that keeps on resisting me :/
-
Someone else had that issue. look back through this thread. It may be that your antivirus is still interfering even when disabled. Try to close it entirely from task manager.

How do I get this to work with BOOTLEG> This is driving me INSANE.

How do I get this to work with BOOTLEG> This is driving me INSANE.
1) Bootleg comes with it's own option for Anxious Heart and installs it automatically if chosen. Installing it separately is not needed.
2) The OP says it has been updated to A04, which only supports Aali's Driver v0.8 and newer. Bootleg uses A03b, which supports Aali's Driver v0.7.11b and is what is installed when using Bootleg. Trying to mix and match the drivers after a Bootleg install is definitely not recommended.
-
nice work dlpb, this is my first time download music,i need use the original soundtrack of game but in the momento of i install the last versión of Anxious hearth i check in the game and have the same music midi....
i use the installer and select original soundtrack...what is my error.
thanks.
-
heya Im having problems getting this to run with bootleg, do i need to install seperately or something like that?
-
Bootleg has Anxious Heart options. Install from Bootleg, and never run a separate installer after Bootleg has been run.
-
I mean I ran it with bootleg and there was just loads of missing music, i didnt try to install it afterwards and I got the ah.exe from the torrent posted (site was broken)
Is there something I have missed?
-
This installer was designed to be run separately. All of my mods are. But some will have issues if run separately after bootleg. I can't see how this would be one of those.
-
so i should run it after bootleg?
sorry i know very little about computers :P
-
Never run it if you use Bootleg. The latest Anxious Heart is designed for Aali's latest driver 0.8.1b. Bootleg uses the driver version 0.7.11b.
-
so what do i do to make it work?
sorry complete noob here

Update Aali's driver is what I'd do. I don't use bootleg, I install all my own stuff separately.

is this a solution or not? I'm afraid I dont understand what you are saying, I can see that AH and bootleg run different Aali things, that kinda makes sense, but you also say that bootleg runs its own version of anxious heart?
If there is a way to get this to work please explain in layman's terms, i build cars not computers xD
Update Aali's driver is what I'd do. I don't use bootleg, I install all my own stuff separately.
How would I do this? can I do this without messing up bootleg?
I really appreciate the help guys
-
If you using bootleg which I have no idea why and you should just make back up of all your files then use 7th Heaven for most of the lgp items. Then create a patch with kernel bins and scene with Proud Clod and wallmarket respectively. So the steps would be this:
1: back up all your original files
2: run bootleg
3: then extract all the files into a folder labeled the lgp they are under plus .exe
4: put them in the mods folder and make a core folder entitled something like HD FF7
the next two are optional
5: use wallmarket to patch the kernel bin
6: use proud clod to patch the scene bin
Once this is done you'll more then likely be able to use alot of the features from both mods. 7th heaven was used to make mods more user friendly and an easy click to activate or deactivate them. If you use Reunion I would recommend to only use the char.lgp, flevel.lgp(possibly) and battle.lgp.

No layman's required, but I'll do my best to speak in car terms to help :-P
Bootleg040 uses Anxious Heart version A03b (gasoline) and Aali's Driver v0.7.11b (gasoline engine). Those two go hand-in-hand compatibility wise, like gasoline to a gasoline engine.
Since Aali's Driver v0.8b (diesel engine) was released, DLPB updated Anxious Heart to vA04 (diesel) to be compatible only with it, like diesel to a diesel engine.
DLPB is saying that if you started using diesel (A04), then you also need a diesel engine (0.8.11b). What I'm suggesting though is to stick to the tutorial, which is designed for Bootleg040 to run on gasoline (A03b) and gasoline engines (0.7.11b). Down the road, we would like to offer Bootleg with a diesel engine + diesel option.
The link to download AH.exe (A03b) individually is working, but the torrent will have it packaged as well. The tutorial's links are the only place to download A03b, as I don't believe it is supported in this thread anymore.

ok so with my modding capability (little to none) would it be wise to try your method genesis? I dont completely understand where you are coming from :P
Honestly the music mods I am using now are very nice and I can definately live with it. (so far tried bootleg OCremix, ffftims) and just look forward to being able to use the diesel and hybrid engines of the future :) (please lets not treat this like the automotive industry too much though, I wouldn't want you to sacrifice performance for more environmental coding fuel)

Hey there.
Trying to update my old ff7 bootleg install to the new aali driver and your AH matching version, however I get no music.
Uninstalled FF7music, Unziped ff7_opengl-0.8.1b, reconfigured ff7_opengl.cfg, installed AH A04, the ogg is in the right folder, however I get no music.
Do I require a clean ff7.exe too? Or is there an absolute incompatibility between a bootleg install and these new versions?
Best regards and thank you for you great mods.
[edit]
Nevermid... The music plugin was not correctly pointed in ff7_opengl.cfg during AH install.
-
Wow, this is hardcore malware. Auto insalled multiple troys and toolbars without prompt and other crap, kaspersky immediately reported a two digit number of infected files. Currently repairing my browser...
-
I have downloaded Anxious Heart several times and never had such a problem. I suspect it might be related to the "Ultrafiles" mirror that links to the download.
-
Probably, what's the name of the target file? I had only a single download button on screen and that linked me to an installer called something like “filedownloaddansomething.exe“. And this file is hell.
-
The target file is AH.exe.torrent, which downloads from Google Docs.
-
Crap, I got trolled by the mirror. Still I dont see how Im supposed to get around that. I clicked the link in the initial post again and I get the same page trying to download the same file. Ill probably renew my win7 and try it again.
-
Wait five seconds, and then at the top there's a "skip ad" button. DLPB, I would strongly advice using a more honest click revenue service.
-
Ah that one, damn. I was sure Im loading the correct stuff, well Ill kill my windows anyway now that I know that I executed a file that wasnt from dlbp. Mystartsearch is a common trojan so who knows what else was packed. Shit, why isnt everyone using mediafire :D

Alright, thx for the help guys. 8)

Put AH.exe into my seedbox, patiently waiting.

hi
could some kind soul reupload latest ali patch ff7_opengl-0.8b.zip ? coz original thread is closed and link is dead ;/ i need this one file exactly vgmstream_music.fgp and on google is only one link to that closed thread ;/

There is an alternate link posted in the thread, but it's kind of buried and hard to see.

DLPB, playing at the resolution you suggested didn't help unfortunately. However ditching the steam version and converting to the 98 version has fixed my problem. Also being able to use the menu overhaul is a very nice bonus, I like the new look.

Hello everybody I'm new here and been playing FFVII since I got it earlier... I'm here to talk about this mod and how it doesn't work for me since there was not readme file what so ever so please tell me what I did wrong so I could get this mod to work?
-
The first thing you didn't do was read the license in the installer. That's the readme.
-
Thanks for your amazing work. I've been really enjoying it in my replay, but I did notice an oddity. In the scene recruiting Yuffie, rather than her usual theme music the background plays the music from the mythril cave. It's been a while since I played it on ps1, so I wasn't sure if this was normal or not. did anyone else notice this? I'm playing the re-release from the square-enix store converted using the game converter and aali's newest driver installed. thanks for the help
-
That's not the fault of this mod. It's likely a script error or a problem with PC version.
-
thanks for the reply, I figured it was something like that. again, great work on this!

First of all, thanks so much for putting this together, it's a great collection of tracks. Thanks for putting in the work to loop the OST as well.
I wanted to ask a question about the selection of tracks you've chosen. I've browsed this whole thread but couldn't find a complete tracklist for the individual settings in the mod.
If you could point me to one or provide one for me, I would greatly appreciate it.
Again, thanks for your work on this mod, it's an invaluable addition.
-
There isn't one. Try them or read the readme. That's about all the help I can give you :P
-
Ah, that's too bad.
I don't get anything clicking the "Readme" button in 7th Heaven, is the readme hosted elsewhere?
-
For that release it's inside the installer. You don't need 7th heaven - just download the installer from here.
-
Well, I went and torrented the 300 meg installer despite already having it installed with 7thHeaven just to read the license text but nope, no help there.
Forgive me for being confused about this, but how am I supposed to know what's in each selection? By what criteria am I choosing Fan Selection 1 or Fan Selection 2? A number of these don't change a large selection of tracks. It's quite confusing without a guide.
Do I need to play through the whole game to know which tracks are different and which ones they've been replaced by?
I feel like I'm missing something here.
-
There is no "fan selection 1" in my installer. As I have told you, use MY installer from the first post of this thread. Not 7th heaven.
-
Hello, I used your installer but I only hear the original music "Playstation style". I have the tracks in the file, but it only plays the originals.
Also, I have a suggestion, I just found a very talented musician who orchestrated a few tracks from FF7, they would be a great addition to Anxious Heart ^^ https://www.youtube.com/user/PiertasMusic/videos
I'm trying to cut some of them in Audition so they can loop but I don't know how to make them loop inside the game (especially when they have an intro before the loop starting point).
EDIT > OK I found out how to loop my new audio files, and also I had to rename them with the default names (like "yado.ogg" for the sleep music) and replace the original oggs, and now it works like a charm, I've been able to mix the OGGs given in Anxious Heart with BitSymphony's remakes, the orchestrations I share above in this post, and some of my own creation. I love how it sounds ^^ Thank you !
-
Okay, I get that you're telling me not to use 7thheaven, but it's the mod manager that I use to play FF7 with and support for Anxious Heart is included.
I tried getting support for 7thheaven and they told me to talk to you, since you're the mod's creator.
I guess nobody really knows what all of these separate soundtrack designations are, huh?
Maybe if you can't help me, somebody else in this thread can explain what these mean to me:

This thread is for bug reports regarding my installer or installation. Clearly, this is neither. If you want to know what the different options are - download my installer. Or just install them and see what you think.
Or create a new thread, please :)
It doesn't matter that 7th heaven supports my installer. Those are not my options. I can't do anything else for you in this thread.

What? I only see 4 posts from you, all of which are in this thread.
There is an option in 7H to preview audio files, but I haven't added it in yet. I will get around to it when I have the time. Until then, I guess use the installer and listen to them on your own time.
Even though those aren't DLPB's specific options he wrote in his installer, they are all still music files from Anxious Heart. I just simply made custom selections based upon what users would "probably" enjoy. Obviously the variations that could have been chosen for custom selections is WAY too many to all be added, so I left it at those. Take it or leave, I'm really not in the mood to cater to every specific request with 7H anymore. I've done it for so long now and it's worn me out. Sorry :|
-
You're at the same point I am at then. That's why old Reunion was abandoned :)
Also the person above is being lazy. It isn't difficult to either use my installer, or install the files to a dummy folder and test them.
-
Hey DLPB,
I'm having an issue installing this mod - every time I attempt to install it for the 2012 Steam Release (with your preset selection of tracks), it extracts a series of .logg files and fails to overwrite the files in the folder. I'm new to FFVII modding, and the only other thing I've installed for it is the latest release of Reunion. My antivirus is all turned off, ran it is an administrator, etc. Am I missing another driver or something?
Thanks for your help (and all the mods)!
Of course, the second I posted that and tried it again, it worked!
-
I'll be releasing an updated version of AH soon. Installer will be slightly improved, but the main change will be that
15 - tb : Final Fantasy VII Main Theme B
will be correctly edited to make it play like the PSX version does. At the moment, it is not looping a few times near the end and so it is running out before Cloud throws Sephiroth into the reactor.
-
I am having to reconstruct it. There are two 6 second segments that do not appear in the OST (they are used in the alt version of the world map theme to bridge the loop). The PSF packs are also missing the alt version of the world map - so I have had to record it using emulator - and am now using the missing 12 seconds from there (also, roughly 1 second from the start). This will mean that around 13 seconds of the reconstructed music will not be OST quality - but it's a small price to pay really.
-
I had a question about the official audio patch that restored the PS1 quality audio for the Steam version. Is the official patch's audio better quality than this one?

It is not. The official patch is, as you said, PS1 quality. Anxious Heart uses OST rips, not PS1 rips. The OST sounds slightly better, as it had additional post-production and mastering work beyond what was possible on the PS1.
If you want your music the most authentic to how it sounded in 1997 on the PlayStation, use the official patch.
If you want your music to sound the best it possibly can short of remixes, use Anxious Heart.
-
Thanks for the reply. Out of curiosity, at what bitrate are the vanilla OGGs for this and VIII encoded at?

He should use AH anyway because the cintro.ogg is wrong in the official patch. As far as I know AH installs the PSX music by default.

Bumping because i have useful info.
The reason the installer fails on the 2012 (steam) mode is because it tries to rename the new files without renaming the OLD ones first.
if you move the old music files into subdirectory, THEN run the installer it actually works.
if someone sends me the batch file used for the installer i can make the proper one easily enough and fix it.
-
I'll sort it, assuming that this issue exists. I've probably already fixed it. ;)
-
well it existed as of version 4. I had it happen. it writes the logg files, then tries to rename them, and the rename fails because it would conflict with the old one.
-
I mean as of the next release. I have probably already fixed it.
-
Hey, I literally registered to ask this, but don't think too low of me haha.
I just downloaded the PC Steam version of FF7; I've never liked remixes and the strawberriesty random jazz they add all over the place and I want the original music I heard when I was a wee lad. I tried downloading the linked file that is supposed to replace the music with the original soundtrack, but there are no seeds.
So, I read you'll be releasing a newer version at some point? The posts in this thread seem fairly recent. I don't mind waiting for the new version if there is one in the works, just is there any ETA on that?
(By the way, I don't think I'm in the wrong place, but why is it called "Anxious Heart"?)
EDIT:
Whelp quite literally after I typed that a few seeds popped up. You guys must be psychic.
And Gods. I appreciate that.
-
It's called Anxious Heart because that's what one of my favourite tracks from the OST. :) It's also to make it stand out, so it makes it easier to find.
-
I hadn't already fixed that oversight with Steam / 2012 install. I have now.
Almost ready :)

Final Changes
A05 Final 08.Jun.2016
1. Installer updated.
2. The alternate Main Theme, played during the Cloud revealed scene at Midhir (Mideel), has been corrected.
3. Modification to track names.
4. Files will install correctly for the 2012/Steam version of the game.
5. DLPB's Selection altered.
-
As usual, I will need seeders - some permanent :)
-
Yeah, no seeds means no download :( have you considered other solutions, like MEGA? Or you already tried and it was a failure? :|
-
Give it time. Other solutions come later :) Mega etc isn't generally a good long term solution since they will cap the number of downloads or have limits once enough data has been downloaded (which dos not take long).
-
Haha, i finally got one seed, it's a little slow but better than nothing :-X

And it's me. Sadly that is my max upload. So hopefully in time a lot more will seed and permanently.
-
Can you post how to remove this again and what requirements there are. I can't seem to find anything and when I install it on a clean FF7 install all music is gone and with the Bootleg mod(s) the FF7 Music can't play it either, only the PS1 Original soundtrack. I did get it to play by accident when playing FF7 through steam with mods, but after reinstalling mods to get rid of some of them I can't get it to work again. Since you don't post much about this I have nothing to go on, so any help will be appreciated.
-
See help file.
-
I will leave this seeding at 150kbps permanently if I could jsut get a hold of it.
No BS I'm being truthful.
-
I look forward to it :)
-
Has anyone officially uploaded this file to mediafire or something similar? I am unable to use torrents.
-
Hi, could somebody start seeding the mod torrent, please? I can't download it.
Also Is there anything I need to know about using ogg music with the PC-98 game (converted from Steam version) or is this just a "run the installer and you're good to go" type of scenario?
-
What did you convert with? All that's needed for ogg music is Aali's Driver v0.8x and a music\vgmstream folder in the game directory. The ogg music files go in there to be played. It's been a long time since I installed AH, but I imagine it already places them into that folder.

I used Kompass63's FF7 Game Converter V0.11 and I already have Aali's Driver installed along with a vgmstream folder. Just wanted to make sure I have everything I need since it already took me quite a while to find stuff that could fix up the PC game. I also have The Reunion installed if that matters.
-
Read the help file. It should all be there.
-
I request this thread be closed. This installer is no longer supported and will be removed in 7 days. Anxious Heart will be part of The Reunion, as of The Reunion R06.
