Title: [FF10] Save Editor - FFXED (2019-07-23)
Post by: fuzzymillipede on 2009-07-29 19:39:47
Hello, I have created a save editor for FFX that allows you to edit many things. Any feedback is welcome.

FFXED directly supports the following platforms:
PS2
PCSX2
PC (Steam)
Switch
PS Vita

Download page:

If you want to use FFXED to skip to a certain point in the storyline, here are some helpful game coordinates:

I have added support for .psu files. If you are using PCSX2, just extract the save as a psu with mymc, edit it, and put it back into your virtual memory card.

New update posted. I have added an "Import" menu where you can import data from other saves. You can also edit AP and poison damage % for characters, and EXP for Blitzball players. Finally, you can edit the room position. Enter World Location = 371, Room Position = 0, and Storyline Position = 0 for a new game+!

Awesome!

Question though. Would it be possible to implement a sphere grid editor? I'd like to make my own, Just for fun. (my own maxed out sphere grid) tried yours, But it's not to good to start the game with XD (since all of the spheres are clumped together)
Title: Re: FFXED - FFX Save Editor
Post by: fuzzymillipede on 2009-08-23 02:41:06
It would be very complex to make a full-on Sphere Grid editor, because you would have to match every value in the save file with its position on the grid, for three separate grids! That is a lot of work, and for what good? Why not just edit the grid in-game with some hacked Clear Spheres, etc?

The "Max Sphere Grid" option is intended as a substitute for stat-maxing, where people typically do exactly what FFXED does.

Finally, don't forget that you can use the Import menu to import custom grid layouts.

-Edit-

New version posted. You can use abilities as items now! Beware, some combinations of user and ability will crash the game.

For those wanting more comprehensive Sphere Grid editing, I have posted a substantial update for FFXED. You can now edit the type and activation of individual nodes on the Sphere Grid. There are also images to help people locate the nodes they want to edit.

Comprehensive Sphere Grid editing?
So does this mean you could actually make a 'hard mode' by lowering the stats obtainable from the grid, and setting to the new game+ position?
That's quite impressive, has anyone done or doing this yet?

You can change any node on the Sphere Grid to anything you want. Nobody has made any custom grids yet.

Here is what the menu looks like:

1. Extract a save file to a USB drive using uLaunchElf, Codebreaker, or AR-MAX.
2. Edit the save file with FFXED.
3. Put the save file back on your memory card.

Watch these videos to see how I do it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSjEVyQnOTM

There is no good way to use FFXED with a PS3. Go to the FFXED homepage for more information.

Well i ported my PS2 saves from memory card to my PS3, so i guess i can figure that out.

In case you don't check out your thread on GameFaqs very often, I post my little request here too :

I really love the ability to scramble stat nodes on the grid, and I'd like to know if it's possible to do the same for the ability nodes (so that the program randomizes their positions - sometimes Esuna would replace Nab Gil, Flare would replace Defence Break, etc). It would be awesome IMO (playing with a different sphere grid every game, you'd never know where a certain ability would be). I hope it's possible.

I have posted a new version of FFXED (v0.737). As ArmorVil suggested, FFXED can now scramble the ability nodes.

Changes:
-Can now edit Sphere Grid type (Standard, Expert, Original)
-The "Scramble" function can now scramble ability nodes as well as stat nodes
-Some optimization was done to the code

I updated FFXED v0.737. Re-download it if you downloaded it already. Now you can modify the overdrive mode counters.

I recently played through FFX again, and used this editor to lower each stat on the grid by 1 tier (and if a stat could not be lowered, it was left alone).
This made the game slightly more difficult, while not making it stupidly out of balance, I really enjoyed it.

Since this takes a while to do in the editor, I have uploaded my save for anyone that wants to try it:

Final Fantasy X Hard Mode Download - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=G4APGOXQ (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=G4APGOXQ)

This is an Expert Mode grid by the way. You can use FFXED's Import function to grab the grid from it, and onto your own save.

I have posted a new version of FFXED (v0.738). Changes:
-No nodes are lost when converting the Sphere Grid from Original to Standard (displaced nodes are relocated)
-Sphere Grid data is retained if the grid is converted back to Standard

Now when you say there is no 'good' way of using this with a PS3, are you saying it is long and/or complicated, or are you saying it can't be done?

EDIT: I checked out the FFXhackers site and found what I was looking for, thanks, looking forward to trying this out. I have been meaning to start playing through 10 again =]

What is the problem? Where did the save file originally come from? Email me the save file ([email protected]).

Just says it's not valid. It was originally a .max save, I imported it into PCSX2 with Mymc, then exported it as a psu.

Should I send both the psu and .max?
Title: Re: FFXED - FFX Save Editor

Yes, send them both.

The problem is because you are using a save file from AR-MAX. There are many crudely-edited AR-MAX save files floating around the internet. For some reason the data is messed up when it becomes a PSU save. You can solve your problem by creating your own save file in PCSX2, or using PS2 Save Converter (http://www.ps2savetools.com/download.php?op=viewdownloaddetails&lid=90) to extract the raw save file from the messed up PSU file and edit that in FFXED.

Where did the AR-MAX file come from, anyway?

Post by: ultima espio on 2011-02-14 14:02:18
It works if I convert it using the save converter you linked to. The ar max file came from my own save, I used Action Replay to copy it onto a pen drive, then put it on my Computer.

I have posted a new version of FFXED (v0.739). Changes:
-Fixed bug where FFXED couldn't read certain PSU saves
-When "Save As" is used, FFXED will switch to be editing the new file
-Error messages updated

This should fix the bug that ultima espio encountered.

Could you make it so it can load .ps2 files (the ones generated by PCSX2)? It's because, since I have no way of taking saves from a memory card so I'd like at least see a boosted save on emulator.

I use mymc to export/import the FFX saves from the .ps2 memory card file: http://www.csclub.uwaterloo.ca:11068/mymc/
Though I do agree .ps2 support in FFXED would be nice, because it's likely what most ppl use. (Since FFX is really easy to emulate, and a real PS2 has low res - yuck)

I have posted a new version of FFXED (v0.741). It has been a while since my last update so make sure you are on the lookout for bugs in case I messed something up.

Changes:
-Equipment selector dropdown uses bold text to indicate equipped equipment
-Equipment selector dropdown uses gray text to indicate empty slots
-Blitzball player selector dropdown uses bold text to indicate which players are on the selected team
-User cannot activate empty nodes or lock nodes
-Error messages updated

The game only lets a certain amount of items show up in the menu because you are not supposed to have more than that.

New version of FFXED posted (v0.744). This should fix the issues with people saving PSU saves to raw by accident.

Changes:
-FFXED is now compiled for Java 7
-Fixed bug in Java 7 where the file choosers were defaulting to raw save
-Added warning message when trying to save PSU as raw
-Saving PSU to raw will remove the .psu file extension

I used this to avoid having to do blitzball until a prize finally shows up. Thanks for helping me skip that tedium.

One thing I would like is being able to individually adjust quantities of monsters in the Arena. There just one "catch everything" button that I'm sure sets all the enemies to 10, but I just want to increase one to max or even check on the quantity without having to return from the bottom of the Omega Ruins to learn I need 2 more Master Tonberrys.

Either way, it's a great prog! SGEs are awesome!

It would be a lot of work to add all the monsters. I don't think the benefit would be worth it because you can just click the button if you want the monsters. Plus you can go to the monster arena and see how many monsters you have caught. It's the same reason that all of Rikku's mixes are not in the list of overdrives.

New version of FFXED posted (v0.746).

Changes:
-FFXED is now integrated with mymc and can edit PS2 virtual memory cards directly. All you have to do provide the location of mymc.exe and FFXED will do the rest!
-FFXED remembers the most recent place that you loaded a save from, and will default to that directory if you don't have any "Saved Locations".
-"Favorites" has been renamed "Saved Locations" to make it more clear what it does.
