Title: Time to celebrate! (Model releases)
Post by: sl1982 on 2012-12-22 18:26:29
So I guess the Mayans were a bunch of idiots and we are still here. If that is not enough reason to celebrate i will give a couple more:

1. I just had a baby girl 2 days ago, yay me!
2. It's Christmas, yo! (Yeah I know I am early.... I am in a good mood so let it go)
3. I get some time off work.

And just because I am in such a good mood... Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, non denominational gift giving time, or whatever else you celebrate

Chibi Cloud (http://adf.ly/GKOBe)

Battle Model (http://adf.ly/GKOI5)

Yes the links have an ad, just click through. I am hoping it may be enough to fund some real hosting.

As for instructions:

Use unlgp/lgp to put the chibi model into char.lgp
Battle Model goes in battle.lgp

Sorry I was not able to make an installer but I do not have the time right now.

Merry Xmas and happy parenthood :)

Do you have pics so that we could quickly check out how these models look like?

EDIT: Thanks for the clarification (cf. post below)

What is it with this time of year and people popping out bairns? Grats dude. (funny that chrome knows what a bairn is yet doesn't have standard UK English spellings in the same dictionary...)

Its pretty simple.

1. Winter is cold so you stay inside.
2. You get bored
3. You decide to do something about said boredom
4. Wait 9 months
5. Profit

Follow this thread and you'll see there are still a couple models and some field textures left in the repisitory.
I'm happy to have these models available because I'll definitely use them in my game.
But I'm also a little sad to have them outside of the Avalanche project.
I hope these releases serve to jumpstart the ambitious Avalanche project!

Post by: sl1982 on 2012-12-25 10:55:41
They are still part of the avalanche project, but i dont think it is fair to everyone to have to wait for the entire bombing mission to be finished to enjoy the ones that are done. Especially considering it has been almost 2 years so far.

Sl1982 many thanks to you for your gifts, you made my chirstmas ! Your cloud battle model  is such impressive and you don't imagine how many times ago I was drooling on Guard Scorpion model !

As I'm back to FF7 I found this kind of things... and I'm really happy :) I'm just sad your Battle Scene link is dead :(

Edit : And Oh excuse me : congratulations for having a girl ! A very special Christmas I assume ! I wish you the best :)

Edit2 : Can you please let me try to convert your Cloud Battle model (not chibi one) to field model ?! As I'm back to FF7 (and trying to "mod" again) it will be great for refreshing my memory.

You should see another time what´s goin on with Sweeper if i put in direct\battle folder run the game and doesnt change anything. :|

But the guard scorpion and cloud battle models and new fields runs perfect.

The sweeper model should be the one from bombing mission. Unfortunately I cannot troubleshoot it as i cannot find my discs. Anyone offer him any advice?

Oh damn my bad I didn't see it was only a warning message concerning Battle Scenes.rar because file is bigger... Thanks again for this Sl1982.

I didn't test Sweeper yet but Guard Scorpion is really wonderful (Battle Scenes too...).

Title: Re: Time to celebrate!

To use the sweeper model in the bombing mission, you must rename the 26 files from the Sweeper.rar download.
Change the 'cv' to 'av' for all 26 of the files:
  CVAA to AVAA
  CVAC to AVAC
  CVAM to AVAM
  . . . and so on . . .

Great! I totally forgot to search for it. Now I only have to change the texture color to getting two models.

The blue materia has a bad filename.
Rename "dacp.p" to "dacb.p" to make the blue materia work.

Running low on Team Avalanche assets already?
What about the Grunt, 1st Ray and Wedge models?

Thanks again for all these cool new Team Avalanche goodies!

Congrats SL and best luck to you and your family !

My gifts to the community :

1.) Blend file of upper 7th heaven. Most of the big things out of the, needs detailing and textures. Most likely I wont finish it.
Whoever like to play with it, grab it here : http://www.pasteall.org/blend/18471

2.) The unfinished Junon Pub. Same as above: http://www.pasteall.org/blend/18472

Hi anaho,

Last time I checked, I didn't find your finished scenes (I remember you made "blinele" and another one from the slums of Sector 5) in the file repository. I think this should be remedied  :)

Next question

Can we obtain that battle cloud model in field model (with/without sword)? I dont like too much the chibi model, and im using the big model with sword.

Looks like Bloodshot has that battle model converted to field in his vid:

Maybe you could ask him if there isn't a field one available yet

What tool is he talking about? If its open source I could look at making it support more anim frames, is it possible to add animation for when changing direction too rather than just "appearing"?

Hey guys, I've been pretty busy until recently. Just checked and since the models are finally being released, I figure I'll share my conversions and modified textures for them as well :)

Field -

Comes with
-standard field model, train, sword, wheelchair, bike, and parachute variants
-modified aafe.a and acfe.a animations, to fix his standing position (default anims can be used but cloud will look horrible standing still, also be sure to back up any files before overwriting!)

Merry Christmas and happy new year, and whatever else you may celebrate :D

DISCLAIMER: The field conversions have been done using my animation mod alpha as a base, and as such have NOT been tested without it. They should work, but there will probably be animations where his arm floats off or twists backward, stuff like that.

This thread is great. So much quality content getting released at the same time makes for something special.

By the way, I noticed your mod BloodShot. Great job. It must have been a real pain to get it done. I also saw you had troubles with long field animations. There was a pretty ugly bug in Kimera that prevented them from getting written correctly. It should work correctly now. Anyway, I'm currently working to improve the animation edition.

Post by: BloodShot on 2013-01-02 21:22:00
Thanks, that's fine by me. It really is a great cloud model :).

Also Borde, does improving kimera for animation editing include fixing the interpolation bug?

I know when I was making that mod it was pretty daunting because once I interpolated an animation, going back in to edit an interpolated frame would cause it to crash - This is just speculation based on what I was looking at, but it seemed to be something to do with how once interpolated, the rotational positions became floats instead of integers, which seemed to crash it when you actually view the values.

I wasn't aware of such bug. I checked but couldn't find anything wrong. Maybe I didn't understand correctly. Could you detail the steps further and what happens exactly?

Thanks.
Title: Re: Time to celebrate!
Post by: BloodShot on 2013-01-03 16:30:26
Well I haven't done it in a while, but from what I remember - I would work on a couple of frames of an idle animation by duplicating them, then changing the rotation values for the different body parts - and then when I'm basically finished, I would interpolate the frames to get it to be much longer (and smooth) so it looks natural.

Problem is, once I do that, if I go to frame options and click on any bone piece, if the rotational/positional values are not an integer, I am greeted with a crash. Let me check what the error message is.

EDIT: Here it is:
Quote
Run-time error '380'

Invalid property value

Haven't been around for a while but i kinda feel that the difference between the lightning on Cloud and Barret are too much.
Maybe reduce the brightness on the Cloud textures to resemble more the ones on Barret?

Seems like Cloud is battling in daylight while Barret is in nightlight.

I absolutely LOVE the Cloud model and it's great to keep the classic chibi-look.

I just noticed that the battle model looks like Cloud is leaning back a bit. I just compared original graphics with new and took notice about that.

Keep up the great work!  :-D
