Troubleshooting / Re: Final Fantasy VIII, weird problem.

Yeah, like black lines surrounding weapons and trees, but I can live with it. Since the problem only persist with Wishing Star, Ending and Eden I decided to continue playing with Launcher and switch to the patch once I need to screencapture Rinoa's Limit Break and Squall at the end. *giggle*

The launcher gives me the opportunity to screencapture images the size of my resolution *1680x1050* instead of the regurelar 640*448

I'm happy about the fix and I like to thank you so much for the help. *smile* Now I can continue working on my SquallxRinoa tribute. *happy*

In other forum, yes indeed. But well, terms vary from a forum to another. The forum I'm used to welcome newcomers with smileys drinking large cups of beer, in this one you'll most likely receive a warning from obesebear. That's how things are. In this one, double-posting means posting again while nobody answered your previous post.

About Aali's driver : why, by installing square 1.2 patch you couldn't get further?  :o
I thought this was correct : game + 1.2 Square patch + Aali's driver : yukkie 'psx quality graphics'

I managed to get it working now, had to re-install game again, extract 1.2 Square patch and then the ff8_opengl without launcher, I kinda done same before but it gave me error, must be very sensitive I guess. Yes, I get the pixelated graphic now, I tried linear ON but that gave me black outlines on weapons, spells, and enviroment. I'll try and play with the settings later and see if it works 'after work'. But I wanna thank you atleast for this, and i hope it also works on the ending and Wishing Star, atleast Eden isn't lagging no more. *smile*

I need to get to work now or my boss will yell... *cry*

@obesebear: I still apologies for it...

Uhm...I'm not really a guy 'though that doesn't make sense' and I did read the rules, but I explained I'm not a expert when it comes to forums and most internet stuff...

I apologies if I done something wrong... I'll leave then it's just because no one at work or neither my kids know how to fix this... I can live with the problem then.

My son told me to post my question here...but maybe I shouldn't have.

I always thought double posting was one message posted twice...Hm, I'll keep it in mind for later.

I tried the patch with and without the launcher and I recieve a error msg, like the patch isn't acceptable...it's the same error in this image

So if the Aali's patch won't work then I can't fix the problem I guess...My Final Fantasy VIII pc is from EA Classics, that makes a difference? I shall try once more by tomorrow after work, I'm bit sick for past two days so need my rest. *waves*

Hm...double post...? I'm experimenting and posting the news....

It's without driver...only game and launcher. The custom made patch here at Qhimm.com doesn't work, the launcher nor ff8.exe accepts it.

I finally managed to get a screenshot of how Squall looks at the end. Oh...and Eden now also shows signs of slowdown, I never used him untill now on this pc game.

With psx graphic quality, I basically meant...as if you see the game on your playstation instead of on your computer. By this it really didn't fix my problem, with or without launcher I get black boxes surrounding weapons, furthest view in battle screen. I'm trying to get Wishing Star working  to test if anything is working but Rinoa's being stubborn...

1) correct
2) correct
3) correct

Ugh...games always disliked me for a unknown reason...

Uhm, not exactly...let me re-explain.

I receive that error 'the image I shown' when I apply the patch you linked to me. That error say's that my game has 1.2 patch of Eidos and I require 1.2 Square patch. I tried that, and that patch gave me psx graphic quality.

So for whatever reason that custom made patch you linked won't be accepted by the launcher.

Finally back from long day at work...

To reply on response, I've tried that driver and it gave me a error...I shall try again though and show you what the error say's.

I've tried the 1.2 patch of Square and it gave me horrible 'more like psx' graphic which is yukkie.

I don't know if I do something wrong...?

I was hoping this would help, those drivers I mean, but it didn't. I'm following the guide, but I get either a error or those black stripes you get in hardware 'even when using FF8 Launcher that got rid of them' they appear again. Tried using without that shortcut launcher, re-installed FFVIII fully again...doesn't seem to help.

Error said 'cannot work with this driver' and once a bigger error showing a list of other drivers and even the Square 1.2 patch...which I installed to too try, but it gave me the psx graphic quality.

Hm...

Troubleshooting / Final Fantasy VIII, weird problem.

Hey there.

First of all I apologies for any mistake I might make here, not by language, as I'm not a person that browse forums daily, or even yearly.

I recently noticed a few problems with my Final Fantasy VIII pc game, and it only happens on three occassions. The game play's perfectly, no graphic, movie or sound problem so I think it isn't really game related however I do hope a couple of people would like to help me. I shall give a easy explanation on the situation.

As I've said my game runs great, however...as I have no problem with any other Limit Break...the game has big problems with Rinoa does her Wishing Star. Her casting and jumping on Angelo goes smooth, but when the screen switches to out space I get two lines, the game suddenly slows down 'as if the fps drops to 0' the music continues normal, but the animation of her Limit Breaks is well...anything but normal. I have the same problem when confronting Ultimecia, once when during fight with Griever, once when she dies 'Ultimecia+Griever' and when she dies again in her Time Compression transformation. I also notice the weird thing at the end when Squall is running in the black empty space 'before the movie starts 'instead of switching the screen you will keep see Squall running 'ending with 6 Squall's on the screen'

That's basically it, I've added a screenshot of Wishing Star at the end of that Limit Break to show the lines... I hope you can help me with this...It's something you can live with I guess, but as I'm re-creating my old SquallxRinoa shrine I kinda need a good working game for eventual screencaptures when explaining her Limit Break and the ending.

*smiles*

I tried re-installing the game
Get new graphic card driver
Tried in Wishing Star in Disc 3 and 4
Got some patches aswell...

I hope I did my best explaining.
Greetings.

P.S.: I got a HP Pavilion Elite HPE 135.be, bought this year...Aside from having short split second freezes in every game, this kinda goes beyond anything I've seen...
