If anyone could offer their opinion to a not so important problem, i downloaded patch 1.02 and then installed the hi-res patch and my game stopped working. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled to get it back to normal state, and my game appears to be stuck in high res(if high res is a small box in the middle of my screen outlined with blackness), i just want to get the game back to completely normal, not this small box in the middle of my screen. I'll admit it looks good but on a laptop my screen is small enough as it is. Anybodies insight would be appreicated. I am on windows vista ask if you need to know anything else. Thanks :)

NecroSandro it appears you arnt using Aali's driver.
Try using Aali's driver 0.7.5 from this thread

install that, run ff7config and select "custom driver" on the "graphics" page then click ok run the game, if it crashes again post your new app.log.

I've been trying for a LONG time to download the 2.5.1 release using a variety of download managers :orbit, flashget,jdownloader,the default flashget & internet explorer download managers & downthemall but nothing.It just doesn't work.EVERY time it stops at exactly 99%.I have absolutely no problem downloading files with my downloading managers from other sites including rapidshare,megaupload,various ftp sites etc.PLEASE help me download this great release.Is there a torrent for 2.5.1 somewhere?If no maybe a rapidshare link?Please help.Thank you.

Other people have had similar problems with the server that I uploaded the file to... Check your PMs.

Hello, first of all: Nice work! It's great what some people killing their fingertips in a keyboard can do. lol.
Bad joke, so I'll go straight to my point.

Everything is ok with the patch, I managed to install it, I installed truemotion, got the game running tested a bit, it work. My only issue so far is the sound. For some reason there is no sound, the sound effects are ok but the mp3 don't reproduce, nor the midi by the way. I just hear cloud's footsteps and slashes and him being punched :D

I read in another thread (a tutorial to install this) that a guy had the same problem and he went here, got some drivers from the last page or something like that and then it was all ok.

Unfortunately, I don't see those drivers (maybe I need some stronger glasses, whatever). I would really appreciate if someone (I would prefer titeguy3 :3) explain what I have to do to fix this minnor problem.

By the way, my OS is w7 x64 and I installed everything in a custom folder.

This isn't much of a big issue or anything but...
How hard would it be to implement a custom installation?
I Mean for me personally, i didn't really want everything
from this installer, just a few choice mods.

Also, do you know if I have to keep the files from the
installer in my game directory, or could i organize them
a little?

But other than that the mods work flawlessly from this.

The music only works if you run the game from the shortcuts made to the start menu and desktop after installation. If you run ff7.exe directly, the music *will not* work, and you won't know if the game is running in normal or hardcore mode.

Most of the files in your install directory are necessary. You can delete the .txt, .log, .bak, .lnk, and .vbs files without a problem.

A custom installer is doable, but doesn't interest me...yet. Before I implement that, I want to make some reductions to make the filesize smaller because a custom installer will undoubtedly make it a lot larger.

ficedula's ff7music isn't a mod, it's a standalone program that reads the debug data printed to the global console and plays music according to the MIDI START/MIDI STOP debug info. As such, it has to be run simultaneously with ff7.exe. The .bat files automatically start up ff7music simultaneously with ff7.exe and automatically close it when you close ff7.exe.

There are also two filesets for ff7--the hardcore mode files and the normal mode files. When you run the hardcore mode .bat, the game renames the hardcore mode files to the nomenclature that ff7.exe looks for, etc...

Also, the .bat files run the game in compatibility mode if necessary.

Also, (although this will be obsolete in the next version), ff7config uninstalls Aali's driver's registry entries every time you run it, so a .bat file is needed to automatically reinstall the registry entries after you close ff7config.

Also, I used a .bat file to force ff7opengl.cfg to open with notepad.

This isn't much of a big issue or anything but...
How hard would it be to implement a custom installation?
I Mean for me personally, i didn't really want everything
from this installer, just a few choice mods.

If you wanted to do that it may be more beneficial to you to just download those mods individually.  It would take much less time as well :)
