Title: [Weeemus] New Main Char Design Beta Release!

Hey all. I got abit bored over the weekends, and just made this field model for fun. heres a few screenshots of my work.

I'm just making models, soon up for release and not making my own story line... to troublesome.

So same story but different models/name.

This model replaces cloud. As for battle I'm planning to chang his bone structure to something else, or perhaps a stance which makes him look as if his actually wielding 2 swords. I was thinking of giving him sephiroths stance, but I don't think it'll look as good, so browsing most chars for a good battle stance.

I used kimera, just changed clouds hair color black, and moved the vertices's around and as for body. I took it from the last knight in knights of round summon and changed it abit from here and there.  :lol:

EDIT: hey, Zack Fair made a battle stance for cloud suitable for 2 handed sword fighting. maybe you could use that perhaps?

Finished that highwind project yet?

And yeah slightly more legal :P so i can release this without hesitation lol.

Hey, Just finished the Battle model, In the end i had trouble finding a perfect battle stance. But i just gave him sephiroths battle stance in the end (limit works)

Going to change the weapons soon as well, that suits the model.

Man that looks sick, it kind of reminds me of Hellgate london, in the cyber/medieval/anime style, you should try the same sort of thing with the girls as well.

Question, should i draw my own avatar for this character? as - anime (simple cell shaded or blended? hi quality anime) or realism style. I'm a pretty alright artist and photoshoping.

or the 3rd solution, just print screen a close up of this model in kimera and touch it up with photoshop. (the lazy way)

Alright then, I'll try an anime avatar  =]

Oh and i been messing around with kernel2.bin and changed a few here and there.

Also the main characters name is now Eiroku

These are the only text i changed, and i think thats all I'll do with the kernel2.

But i was wondering, how do you open the files in kernel.bin? i extracted the files out, except now, i don't know how to open the kernel files. Bit curious to explore inside kernel as well, whats inside of it and what can i tweak from there.

Well i have used a Hex editor for the kernel files

But for me it was very hard to find what i wanted to edit

Nearly finished the main char and up for release.

Only thing left to do are, mini games and world model replacement.

Oh and soldier uniform. For now I'll just replace the head and maybe next time or something, I'll create a new mp model.

Hmm after messing around with the models.

I reckon the best models suited for this game is the original or reunion patch models.

Anyhow, I'm going to try an attempt to make the main characters like the ones in the fmv's and see how it turns out.

I think the hi-res cloud looks abit and maybe the one used in fmv's.

So I'll try an reedit hi-res cloud, probably change the lighting and add textures onto the model to look like this....

That would be godly of you. I remember it being mentioned in the Reconstruction topic that any really high quality models were to look like the cutscene models, and I've been hoping for that to happen ever since. I'd attempt it myself, but the result would be a disgrace to FF7 lol.

EDIT - on that note, I wonder why nobody ever used the CGI buster sword or even some of the models shown in the ultimanias to redo the weapons. Granted, you'd have to make textures from scratch using pictures, but I've seen a lot of people in the Morrowind community using pictures from BudK and the like to create textures easily enough.

So far i smoothed out the entire model, also added heaps more polys ==

As for textures shouldn't be too hard for me. Well actually depending how lazy i am ;)

I haven't done the chest yet, but so far the shape of the body is like how that picture above is shown.

And heres some screens and a eye i drew in photoshop in 5 min xD ( i was just trying to make a new eye for fun)


There are still a few holes i need to patch up, and make some bits 2 sided, i just noticed the original hi -res cloud, at the back of his head his missing 2 spikes lol since this ff7 engine doesn't support viewing from both sides.

.... I'm hopeless at explaining but yeah.

CGI buster? lol the only buster you see in the game files, is that crappy buster sword you start off with.

I'm going to create a buster sword from scratch rather than edit the original one.

Hmmm those flipped normals could cause a problem.
If you don't flip them before you start adding more poly's you'll find it harder to fix later down the track.
Also I'd reccomend making him frim scratch using the original models as a sort of stencil, that way you can work in quads instead of tri's, and will make further editing much easier.

Well, I meant the sword you see in the artwork, such as on the cover or the shot of cloud you posted, to be turned into a texture and slapped in game. Mind you, it's not a request at all, I was simply wondering if it had been done/thought of.

But problem is, i checked the model... it just has way to much poly. So perhaps I'll just create a cloud from scratch.

hmm but its almost the same as making my cloud mod... using kh1 head of cloud but made the body from scratch.
