For those that have been wondering what I've been up to whilst I've not been active here, it's this

Well it isn't actually an editor at the moment, just really a test of some field background loading code.
Just needed some people to test it to tell me what other problems there are with the field background code.
It should fix several problems that exist in most if not all the other field background loading projects (since they're all based on Qhimm's code) out there.
If things works out fine, I'll release some documentation so everyone else can implement it.

The mod has been deprecated by Aali's Custom Driver. Use it instead!

All of it would be moot if nobody actually wanted it.
This will be the official FFVIIPC Higher Resolution Patch status thread.

Links are as below.

For those of you that follow the battle->field conversion thread

And for ppl who just can't get enough of FSAA

STATUS
World Map: 100%
Field: 100%
Movies: 100%
Menu: 100%
Battle: 99%
Misc: 80%

And finally, here's a beta release of the patch:-

http://forums.qhimm.com/The_SaiNt/[The_SaiNt]_High_Res_FF7PC_Patcher.rar

NOTE:I can only guarantee this patch to work if you can run FF7PC 1.02  in "NVidia TNT" 640x480 Full screen mode. Pls check that this works first before reporting a problem

Pls link to this thread if you tell anyone about the patch and not to the file directly as this allows me to keep statistics about downloads.
I would appreciate it if I get feedback on how many installs actually work (not just complaints on how many don't work) since I'll be able to troubleshoot what's broken.

DO NOT REQUEST for any other resolutions. I already know about them and whining more doesn't help.

General Discussion / Hunting for "Story" people
« on: 2002-07-16 14:12:07 »
The remake is in dire need of more "Story Designers".
Anyone interested is encouraged to contact me or Seph3D.

Honestly speaking, you English doesn't have to be "perfect", as long as most people can understand what you're trying to say, it's fine.
Mainly, we need people to help out with designing and developing the story. (The story is way too huge to work on with a small number of staff)

You'll also need to write a short document on your perception of FFVII. When I say "perception", I mean something that wasn't included in the original story. It can be something suggested or something you completely thought up yourself (Has to make sense though).

Oh, and before I forget, you'll also have to ensure that you have "sufficient" free time for the project. It would be pointless to go through all your work and authorize you to only find that you don't have time to do anything at all :)

Scripting and Reverse Engineering / Strange....

FF7 version 1.0 runs fine on my PC.
(CRC-32=E79D5195, 5,820,416 bytes)
I don't even have to use the TNT patch

I'm using WindowsXP
Nvidia 28.32 Drivers
The latest comp. update from Msft via Windows Update (It won't work without it)
FF7 Config Ver1.02 (Direct 3D Hardware) Nvidia TNT checked
I don't even need to switch off 8 bit palletted texturing support.
4XFSAA is on.

What is extremely surprising is that FF7 runs only if the exe is named. FF7.exe, if I name it anything else, the game will load but it will crash everytime I try and access the menu system.

Do you have an old username you want to remove?
Do you want to change your current username?
Do you want to transfer your posts from an old username to the new one?

Well, if you do, then reply to this thread, I'm only gonna entertain replies up to this Sunday. I might or might not consider request after that.

You will need to provide me proof though if you have another account ;)

How is the font size?

I hope they do.
If they don't,

For those that don't know the details, you can check the official site.

I was just thinking it over today.
Do you think it would be possible to write a cgi or php script to request files from other ftp or http servers and send them to a mail account / upload them to webspace for later downloading?

For those of you that didn't know, Rpgamer.com had a music composition contest. Well coming out in 3rd place was quite a nice piano rendition from FF7. It's about 8MB's I think.
Here's the direct link:-

Hehe, I forgot to leave the link to the listing of the results. ;)
http://rpgamer.com/music/compo/av/av.html

It seems this one got a poorer score cause the judges recieved a broken copy of it. You can get the full version here:- (12MB)

Sephiroth 3D.
He's the head of the storyline so there's no point sending them to me cause I end up sending them to him anyway

Everything else besides storyline can be send to me.

General Discussion / What happened...
« on: 2001-11-21 13:12:00 »
Here's what happened in the last few hours.
Arcticnetwork.net's server got hacked and all the html got erased.
I've tried my best to reupload the forums.
I did everything in a rush, I hope everything is working fine.
If there are any problems, don't hesitate to post them here so I can look into them.

Looks like the ev files might not be for elevation after all.
It looks like a colouring kit.
This is what I got from my tests.
Note : These are all the same save game.
