Help! Can't Get Jenova Save Editor to work.
« on: 2009-08-14 00:52:03 »
I put Jenova save editor in my FF7 Folder and open it.  Click on the save file I want to edit and edit the save file.

Once I'm done editing I press OK and then hit exit on the program.   Afterwards when I start up my FF7 game

and click to load the Jenova Edited save file nothing has changed.  Everything is the exact same.

FYI I'm not using FF7 Ultima Edition, I'm using a FF7 PC CD ISO's.

Can you guys tell me what I'm doing wrong or how to fix this??

Thank you in advance.

Jenova does have a problem changing stats IIRC (although this might have been fixed).

There's a save editor called ff7se10 that has always worked for me. It's in German by default but you can change the language to English when you have your save loaded (Sprache -> Englisch). Perhaps you can use this until you find out what's wrong with Jenova.

I also noticed this with aali's driver.

Now that I reinstalled without it I seem to have the same issue still.
Hmm.

Downloaded ff7se10 and unzipped it into my FF7 Directory.  Edited the save file and nothing changed again once I loaded it in game.

I must say, this is odd. I haven't had any save editing problems myself. I really don't know what to suggest.  :?

When I use the ff7se10 editor the changes i had made with Jenova are still on the edited save file.

Meaning that the save file has been modified but its just not showing up in the game.

What kind of changes are you making?  I know from experience that altering characters' EXP with a save game editor normally doesn't work very well.

Post pics.

One of Jenova where it clearly displays what you are editing, along with which save file.  And then another at the Load Save Game screen.

Either you're doing something wrong, or you have Vista, in which case you're still doing something wrong  :-P

@Kudistos... 996 posts!! you better make 1,000 count.  I've heard if it's not a good post you get perma-banned...

Haha, I guess the difference between when I played it last and now is that now I have 7 x64.

Problem isn't it?

I also notice when I save progress and open it in the editor, it shows the same stats/location of when I originally saved it back on my XP system.

I have a feeling that backing up my save files won't do me much good.

I'm using Win7 7201 x64 and the game and all its mods run flawlessly.  No need for compatibility mode or running as administrator.   My account is already an administrator and all I've done is disable the UAC.  I would suggest you do the same...

Hmm... all I can think is you aren't loading save 9.
Try this http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/12/30/how-to-disable-and-turn-off-uac-in-windows-7/
There's no reason it should be disallowing you to edit a .ff7 file though

I have fixed the problem and regret to inform you guys that it was "User error" haha.

Meaning i wasn't running the Jenova Program as an admin.  I feel so dumb, but relieved to have

gotten this to work.  Thanks to all of you for your help.

Could have sworn I was, but I guess I'm not.

I'll be fixing that soon enough.

Glad you sorted it out, running things as an admin is probably the best thing to do if you get problems with anything on Vista or W7

Agreed.  But like he said, he's already (or thinks he is) on an admin account.

I'm positive my computer account is an admin (not THE administrator), and I haven't had to run any programs as administrator.  They work just fine if I run them normally, so that makes me wonder what it is I've done to my computer to make it run correctly that others haven't done...
