Although I'm not good with arguments, personal experience is my point here. In many ways am I effected by the Pro's and Con's of pharmaceuticals.

Pro's being that personally, my mother has recently undergone surgeries and such to help her deteriorating body to at LEAST prolong the inevitable. The fact that it is working is good enough for me to be able to have that extra time with someone I love dearly. The fact that she can live this life with as little pain as possible through the medical achievements that she is able to benefit from makes it that much more worth while.

The Con's Being that I personally went through many years on different medications for ADHD. Ritalin, Adderall and such. Even Medications for Depression ( as they believe that goes hand in hand with ADHD, Which i personally believe ADHD to be a personality trait not an ailment.) Zoloft ( HA... one of the side effects is depression go figure...) Dexidrine and more.

My point being, We can't exactly say that pharmaceuticals are for health alone. Everyone's gotta make money somehow. Medications that are helpful, and medications that are created just for monetary gain are just a way to make money whether or not its purposeful.

All in all, Given the chance, I would support Pharmaceutical companies completely in all aspects. May be strange, but I believe in a portion of the work that comes out of there and that portion has actually been proven to work.

I'm not trying to argue for, nor am I arguing against. Just stating opinion and I'll leave it at that

Thanks for the response ChaosControl. I'm glad most people are pointing towards C# and Java. Reason being, I found a copy of "Java 2 Enterprise Edition 1.4 Bible" at Fry's for $1.99US. Which I think might be pretty helpful. (Especially for the price.) Anyone feel this is a good buy? (Other than the fact that it was only $1.99US?) Thanks for the help!

I'm trying to find some good IDEs for these Languages. (Aside from C++ and C#, which I've found some that i feel could help me starting off.) What are good, Free, IDEs for beginners to Java, Python and Ruby?
(I figured that I'd continue in this thread since it's kinda still on topic right?) Thanks for any help. You guys are awesome!

Edit: Oh! Just to add. I'm just asking for Opinions on good-for-noobs IDEs not an entire list. I've found lists of IDEs. I just don't have enough room on my PC to try them all out and get the feel from there. And sorry for a lot of edits tonight...

Hmm... I'll definitely have to check python out too. I'm switching languages a lot, but I feel that I'm getting myself closer to figuring out exactly what i want to learn first. Thanks to everyone who has posted here. You have all helped A LOT! I really didn't consider trying to learn one thing over the other. I just decided that C++ was gonna be my start no matter what. Now that I'm getting to look around, that may not be the case for me. Again, Thanks for all the help.

Edit: Moved my edit to pitifully bump the thread to try and avoid making another thread so there isn't more wasted thread space by me... Hope it's a legitimate reason since it's still slightly on topic.

Thanks for the post Borde. That doesn't seem like a bad idea to me. I'm not very far into learning C++ so it wouldn't really bother me to jump over to C#/Java from the beginning. As for the video tuts, I decided against those, not too long after thanking sithlord48, after falling asleep in the middle of one with the laptop on my chest. I believe HP has a secret plan to brand most of their users....

Completely Unrelated / Learning C++ - Is there no better way?

Currently I am learning C++. (Much slower than anticipated sadly.)

Now my predicament is that I'm learning via Youtube, and the guy is a bit slower than I would prefer.  Getting off track, and sometimes spending his time in the video trying to figure out what happens if he does something that, I'm assuming, his teacher told him not to do. Personally, I'm the kind of person who learns by doing rather than watching or reading.

I have a few reasons for my desire to learn programming in general. I want to be able to learn a good bit before I get into college in January, to see if that is something that I would love to pursue in a possible career situation. I want to be able to see if learning could push me along the right path to bringing my own ideas to life for myself and others. And possibly to be able to help others with their projects in the future.

Back to the point. Can anyone help me with possibly some materials that they used to help them along? Be it a video a tutorial (preferably with exercises and the such) or maybe even very helpful books?

As an added bonus! Since your Dying to know what channel on Youtube I'm using, I'll give the link, so you can review one or two videos, to see if maybe its something I should stick with, or Remove from my bookmarks.

I dunno if this is completely dead. But I figured if your still working on this, then maybe I could help somewhat...

I compared a save thats pretty much the exact same, except for being 6 seconds apart here is the setup

Thanks for the replies! I didn't think it would, but I wasn't too sure. I just kept it as a possibility since my game didn't slow down till after I used it. I got all the way to Gongoga region before I used it. It only started lagging when I got the buggy.

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot!

The question is: Is there any kind of memory issue with the editor itself? I used it for 10000 gil, ( Cause im cheap, and wanted to get out of a spot very quickly.) and now, about 5 or 6 hours in, the game slows down a good bit. Just wondering if Jenova could be the cause. If not I should be able to narrow it down to my pc, or something I've set wrong in Aali's driver.

Any help would be appreciated. Oh and Vicious remarks would be fun.

Thanks again for the replies.

I don't plan to attempt to Improve upon any of it, I just wish to be able to learn from it. I figured that by the time I get a good bit more advanced in programming, I would be able to look at it and understand a little more about what it takes to edit the save file and such. If I could get a hand on possibly a newer program's source code, that deals with some kind of editing in FF, that would work too.

I just wanna look at it to poke and prod a bit.I feel that personally I could better understand the workings that way. Kind of a "Take it apart and see how it ticks" thing that I've always had. Which is how I came to understand minor electronics and how to diagnose and repair cars.

Thank you very much for the reply pyrozen.

The files I'm trying to open are the files from Jenova's source by Qhimm. He states that they are made using Visual Studios 6, next to the download link. The files in the source I have tried opening are: Jenova.dsp ( Windows states the type as VC++ 6 Project file) and Jenova.dsw ( stated as VC++ 6 Workspace) Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't opening the project file send the files that the project uses into the solution explorer on the left hand side of Visual Studio? I also think I may have finally found something on the issue on Google. (After going through quite a few pages, maybe I'm not exactly using the search in the manner I should for what I'm looking for?)
According to what I found, MS doesn't support upgrading VS 6 files in 2010. Supposedly the only way to get it to work is to install 2008, upgrade the file, then reinstall 2010.
As for the possibly corrupted, I really didnt think about that, I'm going to at least try to download again and unzip into a different folder. Thank you again for responding.

That is completely amazing. I have only just recently come back to playing FF7 after playing a boat load of shooters on my Xbox, and I can honestly say that I'm glad my Xbox crashed. I love coming back here from time to time just to see how far we've leaped forward. Thanks to everyone who has put a lot of their time, effort and ideas into figuring out how the engine for FF7 works. They have been able to take it many steps forward from where it was when it was first released. Honestly if an FF7 remake ever came out in the future, I would probably still come back to this rather than play the remake over. Because this stuff is just amazing.

Surprisingly... That made me smile more than the day I divorced my wife. The hours and frustration going into making that video, really paid off. I loved every bit of it. At the same time, I couldn't help but imagine multiple FF characters duking it out in a Super Smash Bro.'s style game. That too made me smile. Thanks a truck load for sharing this with us!

I apologize for posting this here to begin with. I couldn't exactly figure out where to put it. So I figured I would post it where it wouldn't seem to jumble everything up.

I have begun learning to program in C++. This will be my first language, but hopefully not my last. I figured that in between these many exercises, i would take a look at  programs that i personally use with the progressing knowledge that I obtain.

Currently I am using Microsoft Visual Studios 2010 Express to learn the basics of C++. My issue is that Qhimm's programs were written using Visual Studio 6. Unfortunately it seems that 2010 cannot load a VS6 project.

Finally the question. (Sorry to fill your heads with the nonsense and such that my ADHD brain decides that I should post...)
Is there anyway to upgrade the files to VS2010 using another program? Am i missing something important with the basic install that should allow me to do so? Or am I completely and utterly SOL in this whole idea?

Any and all help would be appreciated, and I understand if none is given due to this being in the wrong space/being something that I was just too far behind to understand.
