Need Battle Scene info.
« on: 2010-05-27 20:32:30 »
I found the this thread
http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=3505.0
but I do not know how to use that information to access the files I need to access. Ive read everything I can get my hands on around here, but still can't seem to find the resources I need, could you guys help me out or recommend any guides or maybe just help me access the needed files to alter the battle backgrounds.

You need Palmer. A program that Aali made. Then you need to find the specific battle background you'd like to edit. I'm not sure if its in the flevel.lgp since its a battle background but I'm sure for the field backgrounds its in the flevel.lgp. Then you'll need to save the background as a .png in your hard drive but it will be by layer so you'll have to combine them in photoshop. After that you will have the background and you can mess with it all you want. I don't know how to put it in game though.

Battle backgrounds are found at battle.lgp, near the end. You can find some info at the file reconstruction project but we didnt fully document those yet ^^'

Palmer has nothing to do with battle backgrounds. You can export them with img2tex or bitturn

So its much easier to export the backgrounds in the battle.lgp?? Well that will be much easier to do by jeffdamann. :)

please document the textures and scenes you have replaced jeff. Just a brief texturename/usage, and the scene(s) that use it would be sufficent. I keeps it organized for you and makes any future mods so much easier.

Once i get a new PC i will join up with you to get this project done faster, as well as finishing up the WMRP aspect of the TA overhaul.

Also, feel free to use any of the WMRP textures for any outdoor areas. I'm not sure how well they will scale on the battlefields, but on the off chance they look good it will save loads of time, as well as keeping the environments continuous.

Good luck, i cant wait to see what you come up with. No one has really produced any TA-quality work with the battle scenes, or any real work for that matter.

Thanks guys, I realized palmer wouldn't do crap for me, so you say those other two programs will extract the files? EDIT:(I can't find downloads for them either)I tried lgp.unlgp to no avail, windows 7 command prompt sucks, also tried lgptools, had to search for ficedula.dll got it then had to search for lgpprop.dll...couldn't find it.

Lgptools managed to extract only the first 699 files in battle.lgp so I need to get more files.

Also I plan to make Version documentation for a complete battle scene revamp if I get good enough, will just start with the scenes for bombing run and see where it leads me to..

unlgp.exe will decompress the battle.lgp just fine. Look on the wiki for links to the other programs

Some people have also made batch files, you'll have to search if you want to use those

Still cant get lgptools to work or unlgp...lgptools extracts only 500 files of the 1000 its supposed to.

Can someone provide a link to the unpacked battle.lgp?(or any other lgp for that matter but mostly just battle)

No worries, really though, you shouldn't use LGPTools.   It doesn't always decompile or compile correctly and will mess up your files.

unlgp works perfectly, here is an example of a .bat file that works:

@echo off
mkdir flevel
copy flevel.lgp "%cd%\flevel\"
copy unlgp.exe "%cd%\flevel\"
cd flevel
unlgp flevel.lgp
del flevel.lgp
del unlgp.exe
pause
