General Discussion / hmmm
« on: 2002-08-02 05:33:50 »
I've been a real idiot over teh last few days on this forum. I really shouldn't vent about external things here. Really sorry, I'm just misunderstanding, possibly because I'm trying not to understand -- Whatever.

Anyhow, I have a solution. I have friends on AIM who can try out the hack until I get it doing something you guys might consider useful. I won't realease anymore Patches.

That solves the fact that it might confuse new users.

I'll also rename it to FF7HackXX. That a bit more clear?

Sorry Qhimm, I'm just a stupid fool.

*goes to beat up Emerald Weapon*

numbers can't be copyrighted. Can someone please delete this stupid topic?

I really can't be bothered with FF7 anymore. I thought I was just utilising Ficedula's tools, but if he made them to sit there and gather dust, that's fine by me.

*goes to start a new game on PSX, where it WORKS, It has NO CRASHES, and is 10 TIMES BETTER*

I have an Audio.dat file that is 0KB... I've done all the routine checks of files on the CDs, but I can't find it. Shinra Inc told me that it is meant to be 64 MB...

Anybody know where I could get it from... it seems that this is the last problem I'm going, except of couse if it crashes =P

 :D  Thanks

I dunno about the technical Z-Buffer stuff etc, but the PS2 has slightly lower screen quality, IE: It "grinds" the edges of the lines on screen... everything else looks fine. Does that help?

7
That was my fault entirely, I was annoyed yesterday because a Malboro had just killed me =(

Sorry about that... well, ok... Ij ust thought people actually DISTRIBUTED their work... hacking FF7 is pretty useless then... what's the point of stuff like Cosmo?

if you think you're so good do that yurself =P

*DELETED Because it ain't good enough for you guys*

EPSXE is a great idea, but it's already been done =P

I don't need to play the game - I've got the PSX version, and that's good enough to play on. The only real reason I want FF7 PC is to hack it =P

Of course, I would rather it ran nicely, so that I could see my hacks in action, therefore, I need the working PC version.

Unless of course, Cosmo works with the PSX version... problem with that would be that the pSX version doesn't use flevel.lgp =(

Well, ePSXe would work nicely for those who want to play it and be satisfied =P

I've noticed a bug in Cetra 0.20 which makes it patch the Debug-ouput Patch if you try to patch the FF7Music one, and all the other patches apply the 32-Bit Colour Patch.... wierd. But anyhow, could you fix it for the next version *and maybe release the next version, lol*

FF7 Again - I find that there are no sounds. I look through the CD's, no wav files. I check the Install Directory, in /data, no wavs. Are the sound effects even .wav format?

If they are, then does anybody know where or how I could get them?

Oh yeah, I found out why my flevel.lgp file was corrupt when I played the game - I had to get my copy off of Ebay, right?

Some fool thought it would be funny to sell a corrupted backup that had bad flevel.lgp and avi files -- And possibly the sounds too. I fixed the AVI problems *so there WAS a reason to have the PSX version aswell after all =)* by simply ripping the PSX ones.

Of course, if the sounds are in wav format, I would like those too =(

Anyway.... any links to places where I can get them?

I've been messing about on Cosmo for a few hours, but the main thing I want to edit are the Internal Text Strings. After a few hours of trying to figure out the different meanings of "Click the icon and the discription wil appear", I give up... Is it just me, or does the internal editor not work =P

All that's happening is this:

I open the editor, and the internal editor.

I click on a + next to Weapon Names.

The names come up. From here I've tried:

1: Clicking the icon next to the name
2: Clicking the name itself
3: Using Arrow keys
4: Madly pressing every available button
5: Right-Clicking, Mid-Click, Button-4 Clicking
6: Throwing my Keyboard at a wall and repeating process
7: Throwing mouse at al wall and repeating process
8: Throwing computer at a wall... nah, that would be lying.

Can anybody help?

well, the only purple materia you can get anywhere in the Northern Crater area is MP Turbo =P

16
Maybe he means 'MP Turbo' - It looks like a purple materia before you pick it up, but it's actually blue...

Another funky little 'field bug' is the infamous "Lucky Plus"

General Discussion / Shinra Inc sent it already...
« on: 2002-07-28 22:51:12 »
ShinRa Inc already sent me the file - The game now works fine. I'm doing what Seph3D told me to now; making backups.

I checked, and the good flevel.lgp is ~120 MB, yet the one on my discs is only 78.9 MB... the problem obviously lies there.

Anyway, it's sorted, and after I've made all these backups, I'll be starting on some editing =P

And of course, starting a new game aswell...

18
.mpt - It com[presses files nicely - 1 gig became 186 MB (WHOA), but it took a long time to decompress them. My coomputer is a top-of-the-range one with 2.6 GHZ Processor, 64 Meg Gfx, 128 Sound, 712 MB RAM, but it still took 30 mins to start running the game =P

scary... of course, when I decompressed it, the game loaded in seconds.

19
General Discussion / 120 MB?
« on: 2002-07-28 01:53:40 »
Shinra Inc has a Cable Connection... The File.... Time to Kill.... but does he have AIM? =P

Erm, well, maybe you could compress it Shinra? How big is it compressed?

General Discussion / NOOOOOO!!! Please Help!
« on: 2002-07-27 15:11:29 »
My FF7 Order from Ebay came today! Yay!

But, having installed it all, I get an error message and the game refuses to run -- "error in flevel.lgp", then the game shuts down.... I figured re-installation would do the trick... then I see that it still gets the same problem!

=(

Do I have to buy another copy or is there another way to save mine?

Perhaps someone could send me their flevel.lgp?

Catch me on AIM if you can help - My screenname is Ultima2876.

Thanks!

21
If you had the name I would be able to help...

erm.... I'm thinking... Mega All?

Not sure though... Specify Please!

Dissapointment? Not in the least!

would it be possible to distribute some sort of universal patch *maybe .ff7, hehe* which changes all the things you've edited in the Graphics, Text etc for our edits?

Basically like a multiple-file IPS patch which applies itself to the FF7 install directory?

If somebody could make that, then there would be a much bigger point in hacking!

I'll try that out actually...

General Discussion / Question:
« on: 2002-07-27 08:37:54 »
Question: what programs do you guys use for all this cool hacking graphics etc?

can you give me some links... and are they really hard to use?

of course... the first prerequisite is FF7 PC....

25
These are just some recompilations ripped from the PSX FF7 CD... they are animations that do not happen in the game.

http://ssrg.emulationzone.org/ultima/Chocobo.jpg

When does this "pouncing" style animation show?

http://ssrg.emulationzone.org/ultima/Sephiroth_End.jpg

I don't recall seeing Sephiroth's Hair standing up here, and his lower wings hiding others.

oh, and if you get a "address cannot be retrieved: yadda yadda yadda", click the Blue Underlined Link "the address you just went to*, and it'll work. Sorry about all that - Bad Server *shrug*
