- When you load a directory and click on "Save Current", it will crash (Index out of bound error)

Yea, i should've set a defaul ent to load. It crashes because it's trying to find -1 within an array, which isn't possible. -1 is the default list selection which equals nothing.
Quote
- It also crashes if it hasn't found files (what about giving us an option to name the files whatever we'd like?)

Maybe later. I dont really see why the user would like to rename 256 scene files.

The interface is pretty bad i reckon. I've been meaning to put a drop down menu in. Heh, also glad to hear that there only bugs i already know about - not any of these "you've killed my computer you basterd" bug's, those ones suck   .

-- edit --

Just realised something stupid, i accidently put in unused as one of the possible elements

Requirements
- Merge Files Installed, if you already have them you dont need them again
- .net framework v2
- scene file names need to follow standard naming convention e.g. scene1 or scene243

- Merge Files Install-
http://www.geocities.com/b_smithie/vccrt.zip

- Main Program / Editor -
http://www.geocities.com/b_smithie/FF7SF.zip

* Completed *
- basic monster stat editing
- correct elements list
- Entire Monster Listing, for easyier selection
- better win/steal thingy
- disabled character input keys (forgot to do last time)

* In Progress *
- Attack's Editing
- Bug Squashin
- code overhaul's, im a perfectionist so i tend to keep refining code over & over, and then a month latter when ive learnt something new i will do it all again.
- Tabs im pretty sure are messed up again, i moved some stuff on the interface around to try and make it neater.

Notes:
- Save each entity as you go, the auto save like before has been removed because of problems with the list. (It was letting me select different items on the list as it was still saving   )
- Saving the directory will auto close after its finished.
- Start anew from the original files, i dont wont any bug reports that are not or that could be possibly linked to the use of another editor.

As things are now starting to get somewhere please report any bugs that you are having or find, theres bound to be a few somewhere.

-- EDIT --

Few, scared myself for a second there... i remembered a possible error that i forgot to test for. Just ran an ingame test and its all good. So my previous warning that was here is now invalid.

(int) I = (int)(((float)F + 0.5f));

Yea, i should've just done that, instead i used the <math.h> RoundUp function... ah well. I didn't realise i didn't need a precise round up. heh.
I also forgot that i had to filter out character key's from the text boxes, so i had to do that too.

Ive been dying to upload this all day but have been busy... which is unusual because im usually never busy. So ill be putting up the links to download now.

I always feel soo stupid whenever someone gives such a simple solution

Is that the "element" where if you link an elemental materia with a non-element materia (like say ultima), then it acts just like an element in regaurds to offence/defence when the cratures has "hidden" as say, a weakness or attack?

Yep.

Quote
Terrance Ferguson's enemy mechanics has several creatures listeed with the "hidden" element that are like this.

The ones that are listed attack with the hidden element im pretty sure, this is the only creature ive found that actually defend's against it. It surprised me that one did.

I should be able to get the editor up tonight, ive gotta go get new tires for my car right now, then i'll come back and fix it. a float value of say 7.56 currently will not round up to 8 when converted over to an int for some reason at the moment. This is when editing the win steal percentage.

“Non-Elemental”.

Heh, good point.
Guess i didn't think of that one because i already had a "No-Element"(Now changed to nothing).

Just thought this was kinda cool - take a looksy at the nice hidden element on cactuar. And no i didn't put it there, it seems to be the only creature that has it.

http://www.geocities.com/b_smithie/screeny.jpg

And yes that list down side has duplicates removed  :D . Edit's the entire folder & saves out correctly too.

This version will be up for download as soon as i work out annoying little naggle with the win/steal percentage. It wont round up correctly at the moment :x.

Also does anyone have a better name for the hidden element, because hidden doesn't exactly give people much idea what it does.

Does the FX5200 work fine?

From what ive seen and read the problem seems to be limited to the 6800 alone. I wonder whats so different about it that screws it up.

My guess is that it has something to do with the alpha channel, maybe it expects it to be blue rather than black like HL. You might want to head over to http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?id=19 and check out the modded driver downloads, just test out a few. You might find a driver that helps out.

Winter: 8-bit palletes is supported by the 6800, download and install rivatunner or nvhardedge (or just about any other tweak utility) to check out the settings. Otherwise textures in game wouldn't show up at all. Its only the config that fail's to find it, but that doesn't matter.

but you have to admit.. it was the first to really put it all together in one heck of a package.

Yea... ill admit that. I had no idea of what to expect when i went to see it the first time because no one would tell me anything about it & i wasn't interested in finding out because i had never really heard about it, but it was awesome :wicked: .

Have you ever seen Versus? There's a funny matrix rip off towards the end where he try's to dodge a bullet from a huge sniper rifle(cannon more like it) it hits him dead on and blows him in half.

1c & 2c havent been around since i was about 7 however and the lowest coin you can currently get here is 5c.

Anyway... all thats rather pointless, here's a link for info about it. It's meaning and origin and stuff like that.

hope that satifies your curiousity.

Its the equivilant of saying, Its just my opinion.

And i have no idea how it originated but its been a very common saying for quite some time. It might have originated over here because we used to have 1c & 2c coins but thats just a wild stab in the dark.

Have tried turning on 8bit palletted textures by using RivaTuner

The 8-bit pallet checks got nothing to do with it, my computer failes it and it runs fine with no graphical glitchs. It's all to do with a new transparency option/optimisation in the updated geforce drivers however control over this option seems to have been removed.

One person reckons you can downgrade your drivers to version 77.77 to fix the problem, this might be a good temporary fix for the meantime.

by the way to clear things up a bit, 8bit palletted textures is supported by all new hardware, however its generally disabled because of performance issues/compatibility issues and the fact that it really should no longer be used. However it can be re-enabled with the correct registory setting, which is all rivatunner does. Im pretty sure the reason why voodoo cards supported it was because thats as high as they origninally went.

I'm going to go search threw my internet history to find the website i hadup about how to fix up the transparency issues and will post a better fix for it latter (i seem to have lost it  at the moment). This problem is a well known recent issue with geforce cards and apparently and doesnt only affect FF8.

--- UPDATE ---

Well I suck, i couldn't fix it. I would say your only hope is to wait for newer drivers that fix it to come out. I've tried just about every option in rivatuner but none of them seem to make a difference. As for the transparency option thats for cards newer than the 6800 only aparently, i havent been able to find anyone with the 6800 that has been able to fix it.

if you want to try and fix it i would reccomend to search around over at www.guru3D.com as there are alot of various tweak programs there. I might search around a bit more latter one but i wouldn't count on it, this problem doesn't affect me and my little bros gone off to use a different computer anyway.

Hey Eric1987, did you end up finding a fix for this?

My little brothers having the same problem on his computer. I've never seen this problem before.

I've tried everything and nothing seems to fix it, the video card is just not displaying the transparencies correcty.

though I noticed some very Matrix-like 'bullet time' cuts in it (can't deny the Wachowski brothers their contribution to film-making).

You have heard of john woo havent you?(I hope ive got the name correct  :erm:  ) everything in the matrix has been done before, bullet trails, slow motion and even those cool little bits where they flick the gun up with their foot. It was the story that was original, but even then alot of it was influenced by anime and various other stuff.

Want some john woo action? My favourite john woo thing would have to be the john woo cheat in AVP, it gets slower and slower for each monster that is near and also explosions.

btw, this may interest a few of you, i had just come out of the sydney art musium when they were filming the helecopter scenes in the matrix, we sat down the bottom and watched them flying around. It was pretty cool seeing the helecopters flying around close to the buildings. We didn't have a clue what the hell they were doing at the time.

Yes, they do.
I think some of them may have a level cap.

Thanks, i think your right about the level cap. That would explain why the early bosses stay easy when your above the expected level.

I remember Diablo get's pretty hardcore if you get high up before you verse him.

--- UPDATE ---

Just thought i would update this for anyone who's interested, I just did some testing and found out that the bosses are limited to the level of a particular character.

In the case of the test Evorite & Black Widow were both limited to the level of Zell, rather than Squals level.

Test One:
Squals lvl: 19
Zell: 9
Selphie: 8
Bosses: 9

Test Two:
Squal lvl:19
Zell: 11
Selphie: 10
Bosses: 11

Outside in the world map monsters are generally the average of the whole party. In this case about 16.

i have great respect for square and have told them this it wont be like a lifechanging mod but it will be worth thte wait i cannot understand why they wouldnt approve like everything else on here they may want to sue some other people for there work.

One reason only - Money, there is no money to be made from a game with infinite replayability, unless it has a monthly subscription fee. Alot of pc rpg games go down due to lack of funding for example the creater's of Systemshock2, Baldurs gate, Fallout series. Too much replayability in a game create's no need for a newer product. Also fear of competition modders are getting more and more talented providing mods next to the original product in quality - Especially total conversion mods like counter-strike, why else would sierra be so quick to buy them out.

Only problem is Square is harsh and quick to destroy anything that may provide competiton for they're products. If they could find a way to shut down current modding they would.
