[PC Remaster] ZZZ extractor - qt-zzz (0.1.0)
« on: 2019-09-03 20:42:56 »
Hello, I looked at FF8 Remaster files today, and it looks like all data is packed in strange *.zzz archives.

Okay, Deling can't open that, it's time to be back!

I wrote a tiny tool to extract/pack files from theses archives. This is the first step to make the game moddable again.

Here it is: https://github.com/myst6re/qt-zzz

Thank you so much. The characters from the Remaster look so great, but the battle scenarios and the worldmap textures are awful.

-EDIT-

Ok, I extracted the textures with the tool. But Tonberry: Enhanced (2.04) doesn't work. The DLLs are not compatible anymore?

It's possible to make the ZZZ tool able to rebuild again the extracted folder into a .zzz file instead of making a new Tonberry version?

Repacking ZZZ archives will be possible in v0.1.0, it won't be too long to do.

Now you can repack ZZZ files with my tool. The CLI interface slightly changed, please run zzz --help for a complete help.

Note: An alternative program was released at the same time

I think you need to pass command line arguments to use this tool. If you just run it then it exits because there isn't anything else to do.

Open command prompt. Then drag the exe in the window and it'll populate the path to the file in there. Then you can add arguments after the exe. See the GitHub page for more info on the arguments.
Or you can write a batch file with the commands you want to run. It's like a text file with the .bat extension. Lots of info online.
Nice thing about batch files is the commands are there ready for you to reuse.

@Sebanisu also do you have any idea about what are the files that contain the data about the spawn location of any monster ? if we mod them we can finally put all the bosses and all the monsters that we can fight only one time in a place of the map were they can be found forever

I think the battle.fs. Like each location has a set number of encounters. Maki has Openviii setup to tab thru them. Though not all of them are working in openviii yet. Where it shows a black screen. I'm unsure why yet.

Orz are here now, but almost not yet.  Soon Orz are really here!  It is too funny.

what do you mean? you mean that the program will be released soon ? because that program could also be used to change the location and spawn condition of the monsters, so we could also place all the bosses and the other kind of monsters that normally can be fought only one time somewere and fight them as many time as we want like they are normal monsters

I mean that a little bit of searching (which you did after I posted) would have yielded your answer.
