General Discussion / Re: FFX-2 Hidden Models
« on: 2014-06-09 14:56:03 »
I am told they are used during spherechange animations.

I have actually seen a bug that made the game to show these models and textures during the special dressphere animations, instead of those shiny rubber-like bodies that are normally shown. Gotta say it spooked me a bit...

Facts are universal. It doesn't matter who tells you.

Your opinion is not a fact.

Sorry, but Tidus is a whiny little brat who is only along for the ride.

It's Yuna's story, not his ;)

Cant say if you are trolling, stupid, or THAT much ignorant. Wow.

Just because rotten nuclear sh*t is worse than regular rotten sh*t does not mean it's not still sh*t

Sure thing. Next time dont speak for other people.

Everyone is not you.

I think there's a dissonance between what Square thinks the game should be like and what the players want. It's really not hard, we want
1) A believable and immersive story or plot.
2) Well developed characters with real motives.
3) A main character who isn't a huge kitty cat (Tidus)
4) A battle system that doesn't assume its players are braindead mongoloids (FF13)

Is that too much to ask?

The heck does everyone have against Tidus all the time?
Would you rather have second Snow or Tidus? Bah some people these days...

General Discussion / Re: FF13 Boss battle theme.

The game was so easy and automatic most of the time in fights I dnt even look at the screen and just keep on mashing 'X' that's it lol

Well yeah but you had to switch paradigms to use different abilities and tactics. I bet nobody would finish this game by using only relentless asault or cerberus paradigms. You would soon wind up dead if you just mashed X.

To be honest, I am not surprised. I  bet they would lynch them for what they did to franchise. The heck were they thinking anyways...

I "played" XIII and XIII-2 by watching YT videos ;D I often times dozed off on some of them because the music and voice acting was more entertaining than the gameplay. Listening to the game is a whole lot easier than seeing it sometimes.

I played it the same exact way. Shame on square for not bringing this game on pc. The dialogue sure is cringy a lot of the time, but the game-play seems like hell of a fun.

I am not really too fond of FF13 characters (with exception of Sazh, but I dont like the way he uses those guns), But holy crap the Boss battle theme kicks some crazy ass! Imo it is even better than ¨force your way¨ from FF8.

LOL @ blitzball. God, that was awful.

X-2 Blitzball was great. I have spent countless hours grinding for new techniques and stats upgrades.

The only thing that bothered me in the begining was how awful the starting team was, as it took forever to finally get things to move.

I wouldn't call these soldiers pansies, only Denethor.

Honestly, I cant remember even one instance of gondor soldier killing an ork, yet I have seen many poorly armed and armoured rohan peasants kill quite a lot of skurut-hai, who are considerably stronger than your average ragtag bunch of orcs. The movie just doesnt do gondorians justice, and it seems to me that the writers made them deliberately lose, so they would show off another boring cavalry charge.

11
Two towers:

Under siege? Cavalry charge!

ROTK:

Under siege? CAVALRY CHARGE!!!!!

Seriously, does Peter Jackson have some kind of horse fetish?

And also, why were gondor soldiers such pansies? I have seen rohan peasants kill more skuruts than gondor soldiers killed orcs...

"This is my story, MY STORY, MY STORY"

f*ck off you annoying twunt, it's Yuna's story, you're just here for the ride 'cause yo daddy is a giant monster you floppy haired prick.

Why so much hate? He was actually pretty pretty cool and likeable. I cant really remember him being ass to anyone ever.

People say he was a crybaby, but I would like to see anyone out of people who played this game being torn away from their world, friends, family etc. , and being thrown into different completely unknown world (or rather age) and being perfectly fine with all that.

Not only that, but the guys father was a drunkard that dissapeared when he was 10 years old (not to say Yecht was a bad person, as he deeply regretted what kind of father he was), and his mother died of anguish soon afterwards. After he finally finds his place in the zanarkand as player of zanarkand abes... *WHOOSH* Nice life you had there buddy, now it is gone.

That is a lot of bad stuff to happen to ONE person, so give the guy a break already.

There is this one thing I dont understand. On ps2, it is understandable that there are low res field models, and HQ cutscene models (not FMV but cutscenes), but why the heck, with all the hardware performance ps3 posseses, does remaster still have separate field models, and HQ models? Why not to use just the HQ models?

http://www.vg247.com/2014/02/19/square-enix-keen-to-bring-more-final-fantasy-games-to-pc-in-future/

Too little too late, they should have thought of that when they released 9, 10 and 10-2 as ps2 (and later ps3) only games.

Not a lot people are interested in their future releases.

15
Did anyone else who played FFX-2 notice that the in-game soundtrack and the ost sound completely different?

I mean, the in-game soundtrack was actually pretty solid, but the versions I found on youtube are all funky and meh...

I had a good week today thanks for asking.

There is no "trying to gain the attention of the TPS and action game crowd".

I just hope that you are right and that I didnt just witness how my favourite series of turn based RPGs turned into action-adventure/hack and slash crap.

Honestly, you guys are just feeding off the negativity that Square Enix has gained in its fan base with the release of FF13 and making up ideas of how Square Enix must be so evil. They took a spinoff title, made it a flagship entry, and that's it. Maybe they should have left the spinoff title to appease you guys, but it is the same game (that looks more promising every time I see it).

They made it crystal clear they dont give a flying f*ck about their playerbase, in more ways than one.

Quote
The fan reaction when it was FFVS13: "Wow, that game looks unique and kind of interesting! I'm excited to see more!"

The fan reaction after it became FF15: "Heresy! Burn Square Enix to the ground for changing its name!"

Because they made the game one of main releases. The moment it was called Final Fantasy 15 it stopped being considered spin off.

It is practically the same as it was with Resident evil 4. Not saying it was a bad game (it was awesome) but the moment they made it TPS it stopped being Resident evil.

Ditto, the exe is edited.

It was a stupid mistake on my behalf, so sorry to waste your time guys. Anyway, is it alright if I just change the code for 2x cut and 4x cut? I Dont mind having flash and slash all replacing the attack, I just wanted to be able to attack with my limit ready, which is archieved with double cut.

EDIT: Tried to edit the code in ff7_en.exe too but the code for 1CE324 is 00 instead of D6. is that alright?

EDIT2: It doesnt matter, the code works! Thanks NFITC1, you are ace!

19
Dan nailed it. As an aside, you opened ff7_en.exe in your hex editor, then in the search menu you clicked GOTO, then you put in the address? If you click "find", it'll search for values, not the address itself.

I did use the goto, but it told me there was the number contains an invalid digit.

20
You guys are trollin him with that grammar? Or is that how you type normally?

21
The one from the SE store, or the Steam one? Thanks to SecuROM, all the addresses are offset in the SE store version.

SE store, the HxD addresses are all offsets.

22
My hex editor of choice is HxD.

Nah still nothing. I am using the SE re release, does that make any difference?

23
Depending on your hex editor, it might not show "0x" in the address. Look for 1CE2FD.
Nah, no results. Prolly hex editor is shit.

What are you guys using?

24
Wha? Those are addresses in ff7.exe. What are you talking about?

I am a bit confused. I tried to open the FF7.exe in hex editor, but I can not find any adresses like that. How do I edit those adresses then?

25
OK, I found the cause of your problem and have a solution.

There's this function in the exe I have labeled as "byte FindEmptyMenuSlot( byte cIndex )" that looks for a place to put a command in the menu when building the command menu. This menu can hold 16 commands though in practice I don't remember it having more than 12. In this function, Slash-All, 2x-Cut, Flash, 4x-Cut and Attack commands are designated to the first slot in the menu so they'll override each other (If you have a Double Cut materia in an armor slot, that will take priority over a Slash-All materia in a Weapon slot). Magic/W-Magic are assigned the second slot, Summon/W-Summon the third and Item/W-Item the fourth. Any other command gets the next empty slot past the fourth.

FIX:
This takes two steps. First, the exe needs to be modded. Second, the materia needs to be changed (as you noticed).

Step 1:
Make these changes for the following commands (raw exe addresses):

Code: [Select]
Slash-All:   0x1CE2FD: FD -> C1
2x-Cut:      0x1CE30A: F0 -> B4
Flash:       0x1CE317: E3 -> A7
4x-Cut:      0x1CE324: D6 -> 9A

This will prevent that function from telling the menu building function that they go in the first slot.

Step 2:
Change the materia to type 6. Sub-Type doesn't matter.

Slash-All and Double Cut are the only type 12 materia. Change them to type X6 and they'll now be independent commands.

Do I need to use visual basic studio for that? I tried to use hex editor but I didnt find any entries starting with 0x1.
