Releases / Re: No more ballerina Vincent

What have you done! Poor Vincent had ballet classes since he was 5. He was trying so hard to perfect his moves jut for one performance to beat his final goodbye to Aerith and now you just took everything away from him.
Ok seriously now, it is great that we don’t have to endure any more that ridiculous glitch that ruined entirely Aerith’s death scene, thanks Namespoofer.

It’s pretty easy actually. All you have to do is to convert the image you want into .png format (you can do that with windows paint). You might also want to modify it a little bit so that it would fit properly to the resolution of your screen (1280x960 seems to be ideal if you are using a 1280x1024 screen resolution). Finally you would have to hex edit the file “buster.tex” that is located into the menu.lgp to point to an external image but for this step you can just use the one I had included to my full screens download.

Yeah it’s a pity. I mean seeing how the image looks in game it gives the impression it was originally made exactly for this purpose, it should actually been used as the default opening screen for teem avalanche’s project, but I suppose rules are rules. Anyway if that’s the case I’ll also remove the screenshot to not get anyone in trouble.

Well it’s not that I released it or anything. I just gave a few hints to help people who might want to do it full screen on there own. I haven’t really thought that the screen capture does any harm (I mean there is another one a few posts above), you think I should remove it?

If it is for a full screen you could release the image as it is, which should be ok since it was published for free in the first place and then all that someone will have to do is to resave it as a .png format (you can even use “paint” to do that) and rename it as “buster_00”. Perhaps you will want to also cut off a small part from the top and the bottom of the image to fit better in the resolution of the screen:

Romeo I like your colored items. Though I personally prefer to use the uncolored version I still believe that the work you did on them is very good.

Yeah I see what you mean. I wanted to have him look more accurate too (with the outfit he appears in CC) but since neither the game’s 3d model changes during the flashback scene I suppose it won’t mater that much.

Could someone perhaps upload for me a screenshot of how the full screen menu looks on a 1960x1200 monitor since I am running the game in a 1280x1024 and I haven’t taken into consideration any stretching problems that could occur on a different resolution?

8
Not sure really. I searched again but to be honest since they are captures from psp I don’t know if it’s possible to find anything more than 480x272 (I for once couldn’t). At least if the image could be sharper, this one is so faint that when I put it in game it looks like the old 8bit avatars. To be honest I’m not sure if it can be found in a better quality but if you want a different avatar for rooky Cloud so badly and you have a picture that you like to use I could tell you how to make it.

9
Unfortunately for as far as I know this was the only image from the 10nt anniversary sowing Cloud with his original Soldier outfit. The only other images I could think of would be from cutscenes but those don’t seem to fit well together with the other avatars. Those two are the only that I kinda like but the quality is very poor. If you happen to find them in a better resolution, just post them here and I’ll see what I can do.

I too prefer the transparent windows since they don’t hide the background but yes I suppose it is a matter of personal preference, so whatever the majority decides.
Btw I too just tried the installer and everything looks to be working fine.

You’re right I rechecked too, it’s just that in my case the size difference was so small so the displacement was barely noticeable. But other than that... yes it looks kinda funny.

I’ve encounter a similar problem in the past and it seems that in contrary with the field models the game places the battle models always on the ground’s surface regardless of their skeleton’s height so I might be wrong but I think there is no need to use compute ground on battle models at all.

13
Wow that’s a lot of replies. Thanks guys.
I am not exactly sure how i am going to handle it. It won't be a part of the main release, but a optional subset as they deviate too far from the original artwork.
Hey that’s Tetsuya Nomura’s artwork for the 10nt anniversary of FF7, it can’t get more original than that. Ok I know what you meant, I’m just teasing you :-D.
Anyway I guess this will make things easier:

14
Ha,hah. I don’t think he did it on purpose sl1982, but I suppose that solves the mystery.
Btw would you like to include this mod to Team Avalanche’s patch, maybe as optional if you guys still prefer the old avatars?

Well that would add to the Gargoyle a whole new perspective :-D. I guess it would be better then to not use the compute ground on it at all or is the Gargoyle then stands below the ground all the time?

After I got the grey screen I went and re-downloaded the Driver, but I still get the Grey screen. So I am using Buster_00. I placed it Directly in the Texture folder which is in my FF7 Directory. I placed the Buster.tex file into the decompressed Menu_us LGP file, re-packed them and overridden my original Archive. So I do not know why its not working
Well, you did everything right so it might be another mod that’s causing it. Try it on a fresh install with only the 1.02 patch and Aali’s drivers on it to see if it will work.

Having an issue myself thats not a grey screen, No text.. an easy fix by adding text to the picture, But still thought Aali's driver fixed that. Will report to Aali. Anyone else having this issue?

That’s strange, having the hand cursor but no text. Does this also happen when you run the game in full screen? I don’t think that it’s the custom driver’s problem. I mean this feature worked fine for me and Aali. It must have to do something with your game settings but then again yes perhaps you should report it to Aali, he should probably know better.

17
I’m not really sure what the problem is. Can you tell me exactly by name what files did you move where and what other modes you have placed in your game? Also do you have the latest version of Aali’s custom drivers installed?

18
Thanks guys, glad you like it.

19
You’re welcome Grimmy.

I love the way those new maps look. You’re doing a great job guys!

Sorry for the delay. Have fun:

(Instructions are in the first page)

22
Well actually I haven’t encountered any other problems for that little I’ve used it so far not that I’m saying that I’ve run any close tests on it or anything. But yes now that I’ve realized the actual features that Aali’s drivers provides I totally agree with you guys that there is no reason to use the Saint’s patch any longer.
Thanks again Aali.

23
Hmm, yes indeed I don’t. Thanks.

24
Thanks for the new custom driver Aali. The new full screen opening menu works fine but I just wanted to mention that when I’m using it along with the “SaiNt's High Res FF7PC Patch 1280x1024 fix” the external image does appear on the background but it only covers the ¼ of the screen. Otherwise it works just fine. I’m not sure if it’s just me who is not doing something right or if it’s just how it works with the “SaiNt’s patch”.

25
No for now that’s the bigger we can make it, but thanks to Aali we will be able to have it in full screen when he gets his next release of his custom graphic drivers ready.
