Working well here on my radeon 7900 with Catalyst 13.12.  Thanks for the update.

(Nevermind, see edit) Quick dumb question: I'm using Xpadder to remap my 360 wireless controller dpad to keyboard numpad keys so I can use both the dpad and the stick. Out of game the key mapping works, but in game the dpad input doesn't do anything.  Any advice?

Edit: Whups, figured it out. Xpadder has to be run as administrator.
Wow.  On an unrelated note, mapping numpad keys 9 and 3 to the right joystick makes running around the worldmap feel like a modern game! Now I can drive around using the two gamepad sticks.

If you want to show him how much you are anticipating the release of his work, use the donate link in the first post to tip him.  I did so a couple days ago. I know I will get at least one, if not several full play throughs out of this retranslation and modifications.  I don't know about you, but that's worth quite alot to me!

- what's the current progress on dialog?

This Patch will it work Final Fantasy 7 Re-release edition?
This mod was created for the original version of the game, so it will not work with the 2012 re-release out of the box.  But there has been some development on a patch to revert the rerelease version back to the original. Someone else can confirm whether or not this mod works with that patch.

I miss the progress updates from DLPB.   :'(

This retranslation revitalizes the game like a fresh coat of paint.  I'd wager most people desire a remake of FF7 to see the it modernized with new artwork and graphics.  But personally, my concern is for the story being told and the characters.  With the modifications you've done, you've given a new voice to tell this old story.  It communicates ideas more clearly and doesn't grate one's senses with muddled dialog.

Thank you. I look forward to the day this project is complete. I'll be here to help as I can along the way.

There is no update. And thanks to a mistake on my part, even when there is it won't work. Just click no instead.
I replaced launchFF7 with a simple batch script, so I wouldn't have to deal with the update popup on every launch. e.g.:

start C:\ff7\FF7Music\FF7Music.exe
start C:\ff7\FF7.exe
That saved as a text file with a name like StartF77.bat, with a desktop short to it. Under properties of the shortcut, the icon can be changed to the pretty launchFF7 version.  Under Properties > Shortcut > Advanced, check to run as Administrator. That'll save you from having to click the UAC dialog twice ;)

Xpadder will need administrative privileges to send input to a game running in compatibility mode.  You can use the "Run as administrator" context option to launch Xpadder.  e.g.:


I also use Xpadder and an X360 Controller to play FF7.  Among other things, I set it to use the dpad to send numpad keys.  It beats navigating menus with a stick.
