Team Avalanche Boss Project
« on: 2010-03-20 02:22:37 »
Right, Timu said I should make this thread since I started modelling a new enemy recently, and I guess this'll pick up as time progresses. Though, there are a lot more bosses than there are Main characters, so this could take considerably longer.
So yeah, Bosses are a lot funner to make than regular enemies. Also, it seems I've found my speciality in robot -type characters, since the only model I've ever actually completed was sweeper, and I've been making fast-ish progress on this model.

So, yeah, screenshot time:

Not many screenshots right now, but can you guess what it's supposed to be yet? (I wouldn't be able to guess)

Looks like Motorball to me.

Glad you're taking up the challenge of modeling bosses btw  8-)

Well, I'm gonna go with what obese said.

And also make comment one the taking up Boss modeling: Hopefully he won't be alone in modeling for too long.

Actually, Mendelevium was right on the money with guard scorpion  ;D

It just doesn't look like it without the legs and tail  :P

great start, and no he wont be alone. After the main characters my game quality models (not backgrounds) will be split between summons and bosses. I'll probably start with the character bosses like rufus, palmer, turks, etc... hojo... those guys :D

Not at all, It's just that the next step of junon is so daunting that it's slightly demotivated me from working on it. That sort of stuff just happens to me, I'll get back to it eventually.

EDIT:
Another Update.

Original's on the right, for comparison.

EDIT 2:
Almost done!

Yeah, I knew someone'd bring that up. However, to make the model slightly more detailed than the original, I had to do that, because I couldn't see a way around it at the time. I'll revisit it in optimisation I guess.

Also, I'm very close to being done now. I think I'm faster than I was before at modelling, so yeah. It's not an overly complicated model to make, either.

Update soon!

well, you could just have that square as a separate object floating in the required space, and going into the mesh, not all edges have to be welded :P

and keep up the good work! I demand an airbuster, proud clod, motorball, carry armor, heli gunner, and hundred gunner :P!

jk, take yer time, just focus on putting out quality work.

(btw those are all the robot bosses, not that many to go :P!!)

Yes but I remember the problem now. Here's my Dilemma.

I can't make the thing any taller without intersecting the smoother edge, but i'd like to keep it smooth. any suggestions?

Why not take ideas for modeling and coloring from crisis core? They have Guard Scorpion =)

Don't worry, I've still got guard scorpion - I sent it to Timu a while ago so he sent it back to me. It's just gonna take me a while to UV map him.
