So here's a list of what's being added to "the project":
the main menu update +
1st main menu screen

correct?

Also, will it be a simple import from the textures folder so it can easily be swapped?

I am not exactly sure how i am going to handle it. It won't be a part of the main release, but a optional subset as they deviate too far from the original artwork.

Wow that’s a lot of replies. Thanks guys.

Hey that’s Tetsuya Nomura’s artwork for the 10nt anniversary of FF7, it can’t get more original than that. Ok I know what you meant, I’m just teasing you :-D.
Anyway I guess this will make things easier:

I just started using the main menu mod last night.  Excellent work, I love this mod.  Just a simple single file replace in lgptools 1.6 (rarely ever used anymore lol) and add a single buster_00.png to the textures folder and like magic what was such a complex issue now has a simple, modular solution.

Thanks also goes out to aali without whom the UI mods wouldn't have been able to even start.

Awesome avatars, glad you released a version for texture replacement. Only one gripe though. Cloud and rooky cloud have the same image. Anyway of finding a different one for him? Understandable if not

Unfortunately for as far as I know this was the only image from the 10nt anniversary sowing Cloud with his original Soldier outfit. The only other images I could think of would be from cutscenes but those don’t seem to fit well together with the other avatars. Those two are the only that I kinda like but the quality is very poor. If you happen to find them in a better resolution, just post them here and I’ll see what I can do.

Not sure really. I searched again but to be honest since they are captures from psp I don’t know if it’s possible to find anything more than 480x272 (I for once couldn’t). At least if the image could be sharper, this one is so faint that when I put it in game it looks like the old 8bit avatars. To be honest I’m not sure if it can be found in a better quality but if you want a different avatar for rooky Cloud so badly and you have a picture that you like to use I could tell you how to make it.

Nah it's not that i want it badly, Just pointing out that is deviates from the original (though i guess since the avatars are CG is would do that anyway)

Yeah I see what you mean. I wanted to have him look more accurate too (with the outfit he appears in CC) but since neither the game’s 3d model changes during the flashback scene I suppose it won’t mater that much.

Could someone perhaps upload for me a screenshot of how the full screen menu looks on a 1960x1200 monitor since I am running the game in a 1280x1024 and I haven’t taken into consideration any stretching problems that could occur on a different resolution?

It’s pretty easy actually. All you have to do is to convert the image you want into .png format (you can do that with windows paint). You might also want to modify it a little bit so that it would fit properly to the resolution of your screen (1280x960 seems to be ideal if you are using a 1280x1024 screen resolution). Finally you would have to hex edit the file “buster.tex” that is located into the menu.lgp to point to an external image but for this step you can just use the one I had included to my full screens download.

The problem is that it's the Saint High Res Patch that causes I believe, that patch has been rendered obsolete with Aali's custom driver, check the tech related section for link to download it.

.7.2 has bugs that cause random crashes.

Can somebody explain to me why I can't get the fullscreen start menu image into the game? See that line to the left of the 'New Game'....well that's all it does. I do have Aali's driver v7.3b and the Avalanche patch installed. I tried putting the PNG file directly inside the textures folder and inside this directory (Final Fantasy VII\textures\WMRP\menu) and I still get this image. Another image I would sometimes get is a lot of numbers and letters above the 'New Game'. I placed the .TEX file inside menu.us and packed it back up. Is there anything I'm missing?

I have also tried using a different version of Aali's driver but got the same result.

which team avalanche patch are your refering too? Did the custom start screen from the TA patch appear before you changed anything? If it didn't appear, you installed something wrong or the archive was somehow corrupted. All you need to do is overwrite the original buster.tex in world_us.lgp, and place an image in {ff7 root}/textures/WMRP/menu.
It's super easy so i would double check your install, and make sure you ran the .reg file that comes with Aali's driver again.

*edit* I can confirm that Aali's patch isn't installed correctly.  You correctly inserted the TEX file because i can see the odd data in the upper left corner. Run FF7_opengl.reg and all will be fixed.  You cannot use the standard FF7 confiurator anymore after installing the driver(unless you run the .reg file again.
