Finally some breakthrough for the pre-rendered backgrounds. The other method would have been to remake em in a 3D software which can take lot of work.

This look quite nice, I think the next step would be the pre-rendered backgrounds since they kind of clash with the new HD textures now. I love that HD battle scene tho and can't wait to see the HD summons animations.

This actually look good for the model swap.
Actually Cloud would look kind of similar to Lightning when gender swapped, just a blonde Lightning with spiky hair.
This artist kind of got it right.

Even if it use the AC outfit.
At the same time you have an idea for a female Squall model if you can modify models in FF8 in the future.

I wish lot of other models would get a custom model in HD like that. The work that got put into this project is insane. I wonder what will be your next project once you are done with Red XIII.
