I managed to get the mod installed but i don't see nothing changed,the Hud is not blue and i don't have the Gunblade icon,can anyone help?

Try using the 1.6.5 release of the zzzDeArchiver!  My directions follow that exactly. Had the same issue with someone else last night.  I will try to troubleshoot the new zzzDeArchive program and see what the issue might be.

You have to put the mod path first, not the main.zzz path. the SECOND file you put in is the main.zzz

Tripod: Remastered v1.1
For use with 2019 FF8 Remastered PC version (Working on other ports)

This mod replaces the Triple Triad card game textures (*cough*) with mine from the old Tripod mod, yet upscaled to 2048x2048 pixel resolution!





Mod Contains:

New Upscaled cards from previous mod
New Borders for menu and 'normal' cards created by me.
New Character "special" borders created by hikashi (thank you!) with minor edits by be to 'fit' the border theme
New Number Fonts for cards and stack sizes!
New animation sprite for the 'earth' element. (all other anims are mine from old Tripod mod)
Anim sprite alignment fixes!
2048x2048 Background 'splash' Mat (from old Tripod mod, but higher resolution)
2048x2048 Custom Game Mat (from old Tripod mod, but higher resolution)
'You Win, Draw, and You Lose' text that matches the original vanilla version almost exactly, yet HD (CURRENTLY BROKEN -- v1.0 had a 'halo' around 'you lose' and 'draw' so I reverted to original text here for now.

Using Ds4 Controlller on steam, no program, this mod doens't show the icons. This show only keyboard

Hello Mcindus. I installed your mod with my FF8 steam version and the controller button mod doesn't work. When I installed the FF8_Buttons_Main for PS4 DS4, the game is still showing keybindings not the actual ps button. I also tried installing the Shunsq version but it shows a gunblade icon. Thank you.

I'm having this issue too, no matter what I do, I just get keyboard prompts and displays instead of icons, not even B1 B2 etc etc…


tried 5 or 6 times now but it either stays at keyboard or goes nuts and uses the hand icon for everything

using ps4 controller with no other apps or mods other than steam and lunatic pandora / raw.

Make sure you use a file from the 'HID' folder. That folder is for keymapper programs.  If the buttons are wrong, try another file in that folder!
Sounds like you are trying to use the 'MAIN' folder, but you are mapping your controllers...

This is for the MAIN mod and the FONTS, which includes the Menu, UI, Icons, etc. but only contains one alternate Gradient.

There is an extra file located in the download known as 'hitech' that will give a more updated look, with a hi-tech gradient and gunblade icon instead of the finger-pointer

Im new here.
Im quite excited when i heard the news of FF8 remaster but pretty bummed out by the lazy amount of work put into it by the dev.
So heres my rendition of the triple triad card for character card frame which i hope it stays true with the original work and art direction of TT.


I would love to use your card border in my most recent Tripod: Remastered release as one of the border options - would that be ok?  I wanted to release the mod tonight and have already integrated your card borders as a test in one of my packs. If not, just let me know, and I'll use the borders I have available to me for the Character cards.

I really like this idea.
The remaster didn't even do something like this.  They made their own font widths table that IS NOT the same as the one in the .tdw file
I want a beautiful font, but I'm forced to use their widths right now, which I hate.  I know for translations it's even worse.
If there's a way to figure out font widths table in the remaster, you might not even have to do something this involved.

I need help for this step please "C. Move the contents of the /pack folder (not the folder itself)". What does it mean? Where do I have to move it? Should I delete it?

"move the contents" means move all of the stuff from INSIDE the pack folder into the NEW gedosato folder.

Hello everyone, I hope this is the right topic to ask. I wondered if it was possible, now that the remaster is out, to take the remaster's menu (I mean fonts, HUD, icons, letters, numbers... everything) and port it to the ''old'' 2013 FF8 as a more ''vanilla friendly'' SeeDReborn. One could say ''Just get the remaster then'' but Squall's new character model completely breaks the deal for me... 20th century Squall is just better imo.
  SeeD 3.1 is the most 'Vanilla' version of seed.  It has a font VERY similar to the REMASTER, and nothing is modded like my current versions of SeeDReborn.

Wow.  You know, your work on enemies themselves would be greatly appreciated.  Lunar Cry could use a facelift.  If you put your art on the actual enemies themselves, then we could simply screenshot them in a 3d renderer with some anti-aliasing and baked lighting and use them as the cards - two birds, one stone.

I really like your versions of the cards, and this would be a very cool version of Triple Triad. If you want textures to be 2048x2048 (tripod are currently 1024) then you can't use other tonberry mods that are only 1024.  I'm working on getting an 8x version of Lunatic Pandora up and running, but until then, know that 1024x1024 on the master atlas file will be your max resolution.

i did all of that you suggested to me and now i am having a hard time getting your Lunatic Pandora mod package to work the right way

the start menu background did not change at all, and the menu on the game did not change at all either

Show me screenshots of your FINAL FANTASY VIII folder, your FINAL FANTASY VIII/tonberry/hashmap folder, and your FINAL FANTASY VIII/textures folders

Hm... sounds like you need to download the dx9 update (win10 needs it). Go to the MCINDUS Steam Guide for FF8 and go to the troubleshooting section.  That dx9 link will be the one you want. download, install it, then run DXSETUP.exe.

After that, if you still have problems, follow the 2010 and 2013 vc redist download links on that same page.

Thanks for your hard work, Mcindus. So sorry if this sounds rude, but what will SeeD Reborn Remastered bring to the table that isn't present in FFVIIIr? The UI elements in FFVIIIr (Shitty font kerning aside) is the only nice thing about it, IMO.

Well, I created SeeDReborn, which has full icon replacements, etc. that are much better than theirs.  Even the vanilla stuff that I created (and some of that original stuff was team avalanche) and there are several fonts available, so I figured I'd offer that to the public.  The funny thing about their gradient is that it's a pixel perfect match of mine.  There's seriously no possible way to do this 'by accident'.  Also, they didn't 'crack' the gradient, so they don't know what pixels repeat, how to compensate, and how to change it with varying colors like I have.  In the latest SeeDReborn, there are many gradient options for the text boxes and I'll be offering that to the public as well.  I guess I could share a screenshot of that progress:

Probably not for a long time. They changed the file structure A LOT.

Yes, definitely.  I'll give the option of using default font or the updated SeeDReborn v4.1 font.  If yagami light makes a version of his that works for this, we can implement it too.

Are the font, icons and UI elements still *.tex files with palettes? Or are you able to import direct *.png files?

The fonts, icons/UI elements are actually set up almost exactly like the original SeeD mod by sl1982/Aali's Driver using .png's instead of the original .tex files.  I updated that mod a long time ago, and it looks like they used it as a template for their version lol.  They even stole my gradient to use in the remaster lol - it's a pixel perfect 'replica' which is pretty much impossible to do accidentally with gradients.  it's probably just a cut/paste of mine.  They also took the cut out textures I made for tripod cards, and stole two of my hand-crafted sprite animations for the magic sprites in triple triad. mwahahahahaha!
