LoL... that wasn't done in free time... that was done during insomnia time one night a few days ago...  And I'm pretty sure I'm going to use him in my series at some point.  When I made SeeD Reborn and Tripod, I had decided to devote all of my previous 'gaming time' to 'modding time' for the benefit of the community and ff8 fans.

Yes, I got the subs, I just haven't had time to put them in. I've been teaching a camp all week. Thanks again for those!

Right now the AI script, SFX, and Animations, are 60fps and the camera technically has 30 unique frames per second but moves correctly with the 60fps models.   The only thing still moving too fast are magic effects and limit breaks

Would there be any way to double the frames of the magic effects or limit breaks?  To have the game call the same frame twice in a row every time?  that might make it possible to slow them down and keep them looking the same as everything else.  I know I'm really late to this, but I love the concept and I am really blown away by all the great work done on this!

To be clear, that instruction sets the menu back to what it was with the PSX...  i.e. a full 60fps frame rate, which will look correct at 60fps.  It also sets the camera back to what it was on the PSX (30fps, on PSX double frames to compensate).  Obviously, 30fps is still too slow for 60fps on PC (which doesn't do the doubling up that the PSX does).

That instruction also fixes some other things like damage calculation, and hit times.  (At least it should).

Is there any way to make the PC version double it's frames?  It's a classic disney trick.

In an ideal situation where you want movement to look ultra-realistic in an environment, your camera moves every frame while your animations move only every other frame.  I'm not sure if that would even be possible here, but it's fun to see in action.

However, if you double every frame, the timings of all of the animations should line up and everything would retain the 'smooth' nature of the 60 fps look you guys are all looking for.  Ultra-fast mode doesn't really do it for me...  Does it still function the way it looks in the YouTube videos?

How much to make a high res next release with all cool features you mentioned within the month

I've actually made 8 dollars from donations in the past month, which surprised the hell out of me! (THANKS GUYS! )  I think I spent over 100 hours on the Tripod mod - and right now, I'm in a tight spot without much time.  Between not having enough work this summer and my car dying, I'm broke and without a vehicle, and have to prioritize my time.

However, my channel will be updated regularly and I will have new tidbits and fun things coming around the corner!

Just watched a little bit of your newest playthrough, and I must say this is looking really good.  Do you have any plans to mess with the letter spacing?

I am always looking to improve the mod, so if you see letters that are consistently too far to the left or right, then let me know! I'm always updating.  In fact.. I just updated the OP to v3.2

If you mean, change the spacing in Deling - not really unless I change the font to something interesting enough to warrant the change.  Right now, the lowercase 'w' is really pissing me off (tiny spacing!) and some of the capital letters have extra space around them.

Nightmare VII is really robust and pretty amazing.... but as far as the difficulty is concerned; you sir, are a Sadist.

I can't believe I've never tried Nightmare.  Currently it's only the first disk?  I think I would reserve a let's play for that where people actually get to hear me lose my cool as time goes on.  I hope you don't mind if my video ends with me Rage Quitting... lol

  Threepwood!!! Haha.  One of my favorite old games.  Still have the original.
I would do all the sifting through duplicates, I just don't have time.  It was a beast of a few days trying to figure out what to do in game to get the palettes to dump, and I'm still missing two from the English release... someone is bound to point them out, though.   Over the next two days, I have to make video clips for the songs from my band's album, so I'll be keeping up and organizing files and sending stuff to Omzy, but I don't have much time to work on actual upscales.

Only the english uses the 4 separate quadrants 256x256px icon files (iconfl00.tex, iconfl01.tex, iconfl02.tex and iconfl03.tex inside the hires folder); those files are inexistant for the other languages, instead of that the game use the single icon.tex 256x256px file in the root folder of main.fs (this file is also included in the english version but unused).

Actually, it is used for a few small things in the English version -- they're just few and far between.  iconmasterfl in my folder hierarchy is actually icon.tex - so it really shouldn't be that hard for Omzy to hash them once I create special folders for each language.

I would LOVE it if you could dump the debug information from the French version into a .rar file that I can upscale!  I already have JaMeCheHi's Spanish version put together and ready to hash while I work on upscaling it.  Lol... the sysfld01 file that he can't access literally only has ONE character that is different between the versions... it's silly

The problem with dumping into the debug folder is that you will be sifting through so many duplicates, your head will spin - but it's currently the only way for Omzy to know which file has to be replaced.  I put some information on the Tonberry thread about getting all of the palettes to populate while you play.  I would just have a save ready to go and do NOTHING but try to get palettes to populate - otherwise you are going to have gigs of files to sift through.

For each language, I would need all of the memory dumps that differ from the english version. If someone sends those to me, I will try to work on implementing them, but it won't be for a couple of weeks because of some IRL things preventing me from having free time 

Don't worry, Omzy - I've got you covered.  Jemachehi has already sent me a dump of everything I think I need to make the spanish version work, so I will send you the mapdata for it while I work on upscaling it

Kaldarasha, if you send me a debug dump of all of the icon.tex palettes that you can, I can start putting it the German release together for Omzy too.  OR, I could send you the spanish icon.tex dump that I'm working on so you can see what I'm looking for.  Basically, you're going to have to play the game and trigger certain palettes so that they dump into the debug folder in tonberry so Omzy knows what to hash. 

I found that if you get into a single battle (use a gf, hit someone, use renzokuken, almost die, and then die), go through all menu tutorials, get a status effect (and then check your status via the menu), modify your elem/status atk/def via junctioning and look at any magazines and items you might have, it should dump everything we need to make a first release.

If we can get this done, then Omzy only has to worry about hashing the files and we can let him worry about his real life.

MCINDUS YouTube Channel

I have created a channel mainly as a demonstration of the capabilities of modern FF modding, and what a hive-mind like Qhimm can accomplish over time.  This channel will be updated with mod tutorials, video demonstrations, let's play videos, walk-through's, and more!

I currently only have FF8 Steam videos, but I will be expanding and showcasing FF7 Mods as well over time.  I felt that this forum needed some video tutorials a long time ago, and I think this is how I will facilitate that.

I finished a new video and posted it to YouTube today that showcases ALL of the current Tonberry mods available for Final Fantasy 8 on Steam.  Watch it HERE!

The last video I showcased with Gameplay (Part 1) had some glitches in it and only had half of the actual SeeD Reborn mod in it.  After releasing SeeD Reborn v3.1,  I wanted to show what FF8 could really look like as a whole package.  Also, I figured after I posted the Tonberry Tutorial, I would try my hand at speaking over my videos.

Also, to the community:
What would you consider the absolute BEST visual FF7 mods to be?  I want to do an 'Ultra' version of FF7 for a video series, but I'm not sure what to pick from since it's all so robust.  I will definitely be using cmh's models for this video, considering I want the visuals to be as HQ and consistent as possible - but what else should I use?
On a sidenote, I think I will also be doing a let's play of DLPB's "Reunion" R02 when it comes out, and I know some of you purists want everything as true to the original as possible, so I'm saving the unshaded models, etc for that version... Unless you guys think I should just smash it all together into one series?

Hmm. On the one hand, I don't feel like it. On the other hand, it *is* a good idea.

But seriously, I don't feel like it. Honestly, the only things I could see myself actually bothering with is the releases and tools; I don't think troubleshooting and general discussion need a separate section that badly. And on top of that, we have a lot of sections as it is, especially for a default forum skin that makes everything take up more space than it really needs to.

I totally see where you're coming from - it was a huge pain to just find these.  At least releases and tools would be really nice   In all honesty - pinning this thread would do just peachy - it's pretty thorough.

There's 2 divided textures for fonts: sysfld00 and sysfld01 (2 folders with 8 *.png files each for SeeD Reborn). It looks like the only folder working is sysfld00 because all sysfld01 letters remain untouched. Not sure about the german and italian versions but both sysfld00 and sysfld01 works fine with the french version.

Are the icon.tex files working for the french version? Do they share the English version (4 seperate quadrants)? 
If SeeD Reborn isn't working with it I wouldn't mind trying to tackle the french version, but I would need the 15 different palettes that get dumped into the debug folder in Tonberry.  If you're interested in going forward with a version in the future, you could .rar them up and send them my way and I could try to tackle it with Omzy in the future.

I see you're having a problem with some of the text. Do you think this text is from sysfld00-01 or iconfl00-03? Are you having a problem with the backgrounds?

It sounds like there's a sysfld page that is in the Spanish version that isn't in the English... it's probably the same for any foreign language that has more characters than English.
I also know via 5way that all of the foreign versions don't use the upscaled iconfl00-03, but they just use their own icon.tex (which I do have two replacements currently - they are what we have in 'iconflmaster' in SeeD Reborn's file structure.)

Would we have to have them dump debug images of them in order to have Tonberry access them?  I would do it, but I don't know how to access all of the files. Also, it seems like I would have to have different packs for different languages - since all of the text on the icon.tex image is in that language and not in English.

If I have him debug and send me all of the original files to hash, would we be able to integrate it?  i could do a version of icon.tex (iconflmaster) in spanish and send you the complete mapdata and textures for it that way, right?  Would we have to do this for all other languages, or would I just need to create the new icon.tex for each one?  sysfld should work the same way, but Tonberry might need a new exception, etc.

The background is in that image you posted. I has added some smoothing to it but thats about it.

Nice to see you here sl1982!!  I just updated the OP with an update with a much better background gradient!
I should be able to port all of these changes over to Project SeeD for the original release for use with Aali's driver soon

I'm still having the same issue with non replaced chars... and I'm using the Tonberry v1.5, hashmap 1.3 and this last SeeD release 
I'm starting to really HATE the spanish version! And unfortunately, I cannot appreciate the real improvement of this update due to this issue...

I'm pretty sure the spanish version is calling different pages for different letters and textures... the issue is that there would need to be a special exception made in tonberry for each of the different languages... AND I would have to re-do a master texture page for each of the main languages.  I only have access to the English version myself... so I wouldn't even know where to look.  I'm sure it's just a .TEX file named something based on the language it's in... and the icons would probably have their own .TIM file, but this would be a beastly project.

Hey Thanks for your hard work, I really like this mod, the borders of the cards in the menu are not all alligned the same will this be fixed in the future? Also when playing the game itself I find the borders of the cards low res compared to everything else do you plan on updating them in the future? Thanks again

EDIT: Also I found that when choosing cards during a game or simple moving the cursor up and down at certain points, the background card map will flicker/change shape slightly in certain areas. some parts of the card map will get thinner while others get thicker.

The alignment issue is something I've done minor fixes to already in the Menu, but I will be coming out with a hi-res version of Tripod in the future, with hi-res borders, fancy text, and more modern icons -- but that won't be for a while now

I'm not sure what you mean by the background flickering. You'll have to post a screenshot or video clip - I can't seem to re-create it.  also - are you playing on a non-english version of the game?

one tiny line underneath the y, tiny dot above the e, underneath x and v, two lil dots right underneath the w and tiny line underneath the exclamation mark, that's all im noticing at this point. But it doesnt even bother me that much, was just saying. Love the mods, cheers.
