Hello!

I've just started getting into these mods and I installed bootleg. First of all, I want to say thank you and congratulation to everyone who participated in this, it looks really great!

I have a few questions/problems  .

1) Imagine I have forgotten something in the initial bootleg window, or if I want to change a style (say change Tifa's haircut), can I change it in the BFE.exe and apply? Or will it re-install everything? If the latter, how am I supposed to make such a change?

2) After having downloaded all the "red" files, I clicked on "Run bootleg" and everything went right except from one error saying a file was corrupted (ff7_enhanced_movies_1.part1 I think). What should I do? Again, do I have to re-install everything or is there a way to fix only that?

3) During battles, the menu displaying HP and stuff is messed:

To make any changes or repair damaged files you need to run BFE again and reinstall Bootleg completely.
It's best to do this on a fresh maximum install of FF7.

I had the same problem. I discovered that there we 2 separate Trish(aka Mike)s custom model pack.7z entries. One was "Trish(aka Mike)'s custom model pack.7z" and the other was "Trish(aka Mike)_s custom model pack.7z"
What I wound up doing was I clicked one link, waited for it to download and added the ' or the _ in the corresponding file, bootleg will have the file name it is supposed to be, after that bootleg completed without an issue.

On a side note, I was having the FF7Music problem that Anyguy had where I had sound but no music. If I disable FF7Music I have the old MIDI but no matter what I have tried I cant seem to get any of the remakes to play. Was there a solution that I didn't see? I have searched the forums but I can't seem to find anything helpful.

There is a bug in the way Bootleg installs FF7Music.
You need to manually extract OSTRe.7z into the folder .\FF7Music\OSTRe\


Q:Why is there no sound in the game?  Why is the music playing from a different sound device than the game sounds?
A:You need to configure the sound and/or MIDI device.
  Run .\FF7Config.exe as Administrator
  In the SOUND tab, select the 'Sound Driver'
  In the MIDI tab, select the 'MIDI Driver' and the 'MIDI Data'
  Click OK to save the settings
  Open the Volume Mixer
  Adjust the volume for the playback device, applications and FF7 executable

The crash at the first battle is because Menu Overhaul ReTranslation is not compatible with Lost Wing.
You'll have to reinstall the game and Bootleg.
Make sure to disable ReTranslation if you are using Lost Wing.
There is currently no way to make the ReTranslation work with Lost Wing.

I haven't offered the level of customization you requested for videos.  There's no feasible way to provide previews of the videos.  You can manually extract the video files and place it in the .\MOVIES\ folder.

Any plans to make it compatible?
Since Lost Wing is the only mod (i know of) which allow to PHS Sephiroth

I contacted VGR about modifying Lost Wing to work with Menu Overhaul ReTranslation.
He's responsible for converting Lost Wing to PC.
I'm not sure that Lost Wing will ever work with the ReTranslation.
Lost Wing should work with Menu Overhaul so long as the ReTranslation option is disabled.

The Reasonable Difficulty mod should work with ReTranslation.
I'm certain to find out after 0039 is available.

I already have nearly all of the game text in French.
The only part of the game that is not translated is the text contained within FF7.exe.
There isn't that much left to translate.  It's mostly the menus and battle text that remains in English.

Hello I have encountered another problem some of the text in the parts of the game are missing or just not readable, mostly happens on parts of the game were cloud is talking to himself were the text is more greyed out, plus also in his flash backs.

The menu overhaul is turned off and the re translation is in english so I dont understand.

ReTranslation causes the problem.
The Translation option I meant is in BFE under the GAME tab.

You'll have to reinstall FF7 and Rerun Bootleg to fix the issue.

so I have started to go thorough the installation process. I finally get to ostrE.zip and damn is it hard to download from rapidshare. The other links are bandwidth bogged and I have to wait 3 hours from RS.

Still can't get the damn thing to get past access is denied despite me , changing the permissions on absolutely everything on my C drive to full control. I don't understand what I am doing wrong.

I have followed all of the procedures and reinstalled ff7 and bootleg multiple times , I am ready to just give up.

yep this is after running bfe.exe and hitting run , however it IS missing OSTRe.7z will this make it not even attempt to run?

Did you disable any virus scanning software and close all other programs?
Disable UAC.

Something is preventing bootleg from accessing the game folder.

Bootleg will still run without OSTRe.7z.
The FinalFanTim and Bootleg soundtrack options will not work.

Use this FF7Music installer instead:
ff7music_install_15112.exe                       Covarr          FinalFanTim tracks looped as OGG & PSF  Qhimm FILE

If it's just that text, I could do it. But I'm wondering, isn't the official translation for those terms good enough? Or is it a problem of knowing what matches the terms in the official translation?

Oh by the way, is it normal not to see any bar for HP and MP during battles? There's one bar for limit and one for ATB, but none for HP/MP. It's not glitchy, but I can't know what's remaining relative to total.

You should have the MP/HP bars.
Disable 9999 limit breaker in ff7_opengl.cfg.
You can do this via Bootloader in the Configure window.

Any translation would suffice.
The battle and menu text is so prominent.  It's important that it match the language of the rest of the text.

At Shinira Building Motorrace minigame i dint have any problems, anybody have ideas what can i do?

Note on what Sangoku said earlier, on the retranslation project. I followed it for a time, and still check the state of it from time to time.

The project, called Neo-Midgar, seeks to totally retranslate the game from the Japanese. The main project leader is Acro, and the main programmer is myst6re. Last time I checked, they wanted to be able to translate it from more than just the original French. This project is, no offense intended, better than DLPB's retranslation, mainly because it had gone on for longer and has many people participating. Translating from this translation to English would result in a perfect translation, as far as I can tell.
