I've read January, March or possibly May.

So I don't think anyone really knows.

I'm not going to bother upgrading to the 64bit edition because there are still compatibilty problems with drivers / software and no great performance increases as of yet.

When it comes to MS betas though they are notoriously full of bugs (as are the final releases  ).

Has anyone tried running FF7 in Windows XP x64 edition? I know that it works using a x64 CPU in a 32bit operating system but will it work on a 64bit OS.

Also out of interest has anyone played FF7 on a Windows Vista beta yet?

Try changing the screen resolution or changing between software and hardware rendering

It won't have any effect as Direct X cannot be downgraded that way

You can buy the game on ebay.

I think the 3dfx demo of FF7 used glide, but the final version used DirectX so anything to do with glide is unrequired.

it says in order to run this patch you need to find two files GRU32.ZIP and glide.zip.  io carnt find these files anyware and my ff7 does not run unless i reinstall it.

Have you downloaded the 1.02 patch from a reliable source because neither of these files are needed or even referenced AFAIK.

Its a bug in the 1.02 patch.

88
It should work fine with a 64 bit CPU, but does it work in a 64 bit OS?

89
It works fine for me on my ATI Radeon 9800pro. Use Nvidia TNT mode though.

1) This is a side effect of using compatibility mode

3) There are many different reasons why the game might crash

As you have trouble with the movies it sounds like you have some sort of codec problem or conflict. You mentioned that have the ACE Mega Codec Pack installed. Try uninstalling this and the Duck TrueMotion codec. Then reinstall the Duck TrueMotion codec without installing any other codecs.

Try reading the topic I previously linked to. You'll find many people who do care and if you don't respect that then stop posting.

I also noticed that most of the time after i exit the game, either by Alt-Q or via menu exit, the ff7.exe process will still remains in the process list in task manager.

This sometimes occurs when compatibility mode is used.

Try copying the movies to your hard drive and running them off there.

To fix the world map problem under windows xp you can:

Set the ff7.exe to windows 98 compaibility mode by right clicking on the executable and then clicking on the compatibility tab.

However I'm not sure what you can do in windows 2000.

General Discussion / FF7 PS3 Petition
« on: 2005-11-01 21:45:22 »
Square-enix have said they might consider a remake in the future but not anytime soon. Realistically petitions rarely get anywhere and considering the English version of Advent Children has been delayed to spring 2006 it doesn't look promising.

Have you tried using software rendering?
