Win 98 SE or Win XP?

I want to replay FF8, but since it's next to impossible to get it to work correctly with the best grafics on these newer computers, I've decided to build a new computer out of all the pld computer pats I have lying around in my home. My problem is that I'm unsure wether to use Windows XP or Windows 98 SE on this computer.

Here's the stats on the hardware
ABIT KG7 Motherboard
768 MB Ram
SIS 6326 AGP Grafic card
and I'm unsure about the size of the hard drive.

Oh, and is the grafics card good enough for FF8? Or should I try to get a better one? If so, which card would you suggest?

What's the processor speed/model and graphics memory?
A good soundcard would help too, although probably not as important as some other things.

Definately go with 98SE if it's for older games. Although make sure you can find drivers first.

I would recommend going for Windows XP if you are playing FF8. I haven't heard of any xp specific issues, although I could be wrong.

The processor speed is apparently 1,2 ghz, And I'm not sure about the model. The grafics memory I have no idea about, But I also managed to locate a Geforce 2 MX lying around, so I might use that one instead. not sure which of the two cards is best.
