Releases / Battle model > Field model Conversion FINALLY!!
« on: 2005-10-03 10:33:58 »
Maybe this is a wierd thing to say...

But seeing as how I cannot enjoy the these mods on my own (I only own the PSX version) and I have more important things to spend my money on lately...

is it too much to ask?

Can somebody share with us some more screenshots?

This truly is a cool development and I'd like to see some more of it! I'm almost awestruck (I dunno why... newer games most obviously look so much better  ) But maybe because it's just adding on to old memories and getting to see them in a new light, just alittle bit.

Of course... if anybody has the time! So I ask bluntly... Please?

Great jobs guys!

Check out my stuff if it's still there when you read this... I use Melody Assistant, that uses high quality real instrument recording samples to generate it's digital music. It reads midi, but uses it's own playback. I personally feel it's a godsend, it just kicks a$$!

Archive / trying to remaster ff7 music need feedback
« on: 2005-09-17 21:58:07 »
Well... I can answer that for you! :D

I'm not sure what lengths other people go to to render midi files, but 'Render' in essense, is what we all are trying to do.

It all starts with the midi files, or the sheet music, which ever you run into first, or want to deal with. Midi is by far easier to get, you don't have to pay for it!

Then you find a program that will read the midi, that uses a sound base consisting of high quality samples that will replace the crappy midi sounds, for better sounding goodness. but you have to get money for good ones... -_-

May I plug an awesome program for this adventure? www.myriad-online.com

It's a nifty digital music making program, and it uses an alternate soundbase with many instrument recordings for any one instrument, to get the sound you want. If you play with it enough, you could fool anyone into believing your mp3 was an actual recording! And it's only 18$, not bad!

Literally the best program I've ever found that has to do with music!

I'll re-post my mixes later when I have some more time, right now my girlfriend won't let me on the computer :x

Well I'd love to listen to your music ... but apparently I got here too late... :(

Ironically though, I myself did the same thing, but I'm not going to do it for the whole soundtrack! Just for my own geeky pleasure :D

Tell me what you think!

I'm a fellow 3D Studio Max student myself!

Great Great work man!

By Any chance can we view this with the realistic textures? Without the toon shade, but don't get me wrong. What I think your did was brilliant and better than anything I could hope to do with toon shade!

apz freak: I can answer your Biturn question. Reason why everything is mixed up is, as I mentioned in older post, that there are no animation files in the archive, so program does not know how to setup the skeleton. If you own FF7 you can get the whole data yourself, see information on how-to-do-it here: gamedata.txt

Ah, I see. Well... I've already read every readme file for the programs. And in fact I think I would extract it myself with your program  if I owned the PC game myself. (I don't have any money right now, long story involving a car wreck -_- , and now a new car  :D  ) But thanks for your input! 8) I really appreciate it!

That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard of.

What's the size of the downloaded file? Did you try opening it with Windows Zip, Winzip, and WinRAR?

Really? Hmmmm... I opened it using WinRar of course.

The file I downloaded is 6,934 KB, I unzipped it to it's own folder, yet I kept the .rar

I can open the .p files ONLY, when I use Ultima. The funny thing is it'll open the .p's but when I open the .hrc's the viewer goes white, but I can view the skeleton parts list. So It's loaded , I can't see it.

Ya think it's my video card? or maybe the drivers? Ahhh, I give up, I think I outta just try this on a REAL computer!

:o Okay, I'm a SERIOUS noob. At least when it comes to the programming aspect of it all. I'm quite a good 3d modeler though. 8)
( I'm also 20, not 12, so nothing you guys say will go over my head )
I ran into this message board by accident and boy am I happy I did... :D

Now to the point... I downloaded the .rar, Tried to open some of the files in Ifalna, Nothing! At least nothing to view. In the model/anim toolbar drop down I can select the .hrc file, and nothing! In the filter anim toolbar I can view how many bones it has. But I don't see no model.

If I missed anything, and I know I have, please let me know! Please!

I also downloaded Biturn and it allows me to view a jumple of all parts, plus the skeleton, of any of the characters when I open the .hrc... And the individual parts in the other file extensions.

Why can't I get it right... or... do I have to have the FFVII installed on my computer before this will work...? The realistic question might be... Is this because of my video card?

Thanks for your time, I suck :P  but I am dangerously interested
