Graphical / Rigging or Modeling first
« on: 2012-05-19 22:47:44 »
Hi there people. Could someone tell me what would be preferable to create models for Final Fantasy 7. Will it be easier starting from the rigging parts and the skeleton or create the whole model and then try rigging it? I am a little bit confused on this and if you can explain to me the situation it will be easier for me to move on with helping out in the forum here. :)

Graphical / A newly styled Vivi
« on: 2012-03-19 02:34:23 »
Hi guys. This is the model i've been trying my hand on. I aspire to make some kind of a Vivi-ish character. Mostly for the fun of it but in the end i may use it as well :)

I saw a couple of year ago some really awesome videos on youtube. I don't know if anyone has seen them from here but it's tottaly worth it to check them out. Wish people like the one who created this were in the forum. His work is just amazing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJWCvhm6oJk&feature=related

Here is his work in devianART as well. It's worth checking it out http://montyoum.deviantart.com/

Hi guys. I am currently working a re-designing a couple of characters from ff-vii and i would like to know what are the limits of the triangles etc that i shouldn't exceed so that my characters can actually be playable?? I know people have already answered this question somewhere. But i've been through most of the forum and i can't remember were it was.

General Discussion / Final Fantasy versus XIII
« on: 2011-09-24 05:59:09 »
Final Fantasy versus XIII is getting somewhere after all those years. Looks promising. Check out the latest info about it below..

Nomura told Famitsu how he performed a walkthrough of the entire world map recently, checking out the towns and dungeons on the way. He said he was amazed at how wide and impressive everything was. A slightly subjective opinion which isn’t much use to us but he does confirm the use of a new lighting engine. Previously, he stated that the games lighting was being improved and that he was aiming for Versus to be photo realistic. Today he confirmed that an entirely new engine was being used just for it.
The Luminous Engine which was announced back in August is Square Enix’s next generation tool kit and parts of it are being implemented into Versus. The engine does have a small tech demo showing what it can really do (not constrained by specific hardware however). Below is a photo and a screenshot from the tech demo. The left is the photo and the right is the render from the engine. A slightly unfair comparison but it still looks impressive. The 15 second walkthrough video of the scene is http://game.watch.impress.co.jp/video/gmw/docs/473/138/html/render.wmv.html but only works on some browsers (IE). Youtube however, doesn’t do it justice.

It really does look quite realistic as far as i am concerned.

« on: 2011-09-17 23:35:31 »
Hey all. I am trying to open a Riku model so that i can analyze it. Blender says that it supports .DAE formats but for some unknown reason it doesn't load mine. Here's a pic of the files I'm trying to import and what blender application says about the problem.

Hi. I have just installed most of the mods i wanted for my ff7 game and i was in the mt corel area for the first time on the railroad were the rails break and you fall.i had decided to use the fmv replacement for movies from grimmy. So i edited the rgistry in order to do so. But the problem was that when i fall the video wouldn't load. After that i decided to set the path to the original again until i pass those rails but when i changed it back it still wouldn't recognize it even though the movie file exists inside the ff7 disc. what has happened?? Also i use the AC cloud model (which if i recall well it isn't illegal that's why i'm mentioning it). Maybe the model can't work well with this particular place of the game that's why it skips it. Any opinions on what happened and how i could fix it???

here's an image of the error

Troubleshooting / Problem with mike's mod
« on: 2011-08-31 08:59:23 »
Hi. I recently downloaded mike's mod for my game. In the beggining i though it only replaced the weapons and not the characters too. So when i tried to undo my mistake and replace the old files of battle.lgp i must have forgotten one or something. when i opened the game to test if everything is okay, when the battle started it said could not open cloud.T004 and cloud's waist and i think a part of his face was missing also. Furthermore when my chars attacked sometimes the sound of the hit and of the dissapearance of the enemy would be heard like an echo and not as a clear sound. In order to fix that i thought of download the ac cloud battle model. I replaced the files in battle.lgp and everything is fine except for the cloud.T004 problem. Can i fix that somehow?? Is it a serious problem for my game or i can play without worrying about it too much??? help plz..

Graphical / HD vincent project!
« on: 2011-08-26 19:58:10 »
Hi all :) I decided to start modifying the Vincent battle model since no one else has made a model. It will take me sometime to modify his limits too...For now i would like to ask a couple of questions about how i should create him.. Should i base my model to the Dirge of Cerberus Vincent or keep it good and simple like in ff7 original??Furthermore, i know in a way how i will modify galiant's beast and chaos but the problem is with his other two transformations. What do i do with them ??? :S :S :S If someone else is interest in helping me make this happen to hesitate to say it :P I'm fairly new and all help will be appreciated :)

Solved Problems / SOLVED: Biturn doesn't load
« on: 2011-08-23 22:10:46 »
Hi :?: i recently decided to try and learn how to texture so that i can contribute to this website. I downloaded Biturn version 0.87 beta 4 (later beta 3 too ). I opened the program and it ran smoothly. Then i tried to open the battle.lgp inside the program and it slowly started reading them all. Then when i minimized the application and opened a pdf to read something the window went all white and it didn't show anything. After that i closed the application and restarted it. It showed that the application ran okay but there wasn't any window. Only the minimized one can be seen. I tried to use an older version but it still doesn't work. I tried restarting my computer but still the same. I also tried deleting Bitrun from registry too but still it doesn't work. Can anyone help me solve this problem? and if not any suggestions for a different program to create a 3ds model which can work on blender?

I run on windows 7 ultimate (64 bit).
AMD Athlon Dual core processor
2gb  ram
ATI Radeon HD 5500

here's a picture too..

Troubleshooting / battle error!
« on: 2011-07-01 10:51:12 »
Hi. During the battle start a message pops up that says Error : could not open file RED13.T09. Although it gives up this message the game doesn't crush or stop responding or anything like that. It just gets slower and it may stuck for around a second and unexpected: zero count. I don't understand the nature of my problem. Maybe it's because of the felix leonheart and magochocobo's battle scenes that makes it happen so. Any ideas on the matter??
