Hello all, previously just a lurker, signed up hoping someone might be able to assist me in correcting the issue mentioned in the title. I've searched for the same issue reported by others and could only find this one:
http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=8931.0But, as mentioned on that thread the problem seemed to correct itself without any explanation, so it didn't really assist me. I'm running the bootleg mod on my steam version of FF7, and have been playing mostly bug free up to disc 2 (just before going back to Cosmo Canyon for the huge materias) until I decided to start racing/breeding Chocobos. As soon as I enable manual mode in the races the controls seem to go haywire, and ignore or fight against my inputs. The bird generally wants to crash into the left wall, even if I'm holding the stick to the right, or not giving any inputs at all. It will also randomly sprint and move in other directions. When automatic mode is engaged, the Chocobo seems to race normally.
I'm using a joypad (a Nyko brand PS3 knock off) combined with x-padder, which has worked just fine up until this point. To try and resolve the issue myself, I tried:
- Choosing a different Chocobo to race
- Disabling/Re-enabling X-padder
- Remapping the controller within game
- Unplugging/replugging the controller (including other USB ports)
- Using the keyboard instead of the controller
- Rebooting the game
- Changing save files
- Rebooting my PC
The outcome has been the same every time. In no other aspect of gameplay have I had an issue with the controls, including riding Chocobos on the world map, or the other mini-games (such as snow-boarding/bike combat). Calibration tools also seem to confirm the hardware/drivers are not malfunctioning in any way. I'm running the game on Win7 64-bit in case that is relevant.
So, I'm currently at a loss on how to resolve this issue. Any help is appreciated and sorry for the long post.
