I have tested the GC also with Win 8.0, but was long time ago.
Maybe it helps the Win7 compatibility mode to switch on...

Well I try Windows 7 compatability mode on my first install and still got FF7.exe has stopped working.

After I had looked more closely, I see that you used the BC version of the Game Converter.
I do not think that the newer version 0.11 works better, but it's worth a try.

BC is the same as 0.11. I just changed 0.11 script to install 0.7.11b instead of 0.8.1b, which doesn't even make a difference in the end.

Ok so I installed it all on my laptop and its all working fine other then a couple mods, like the intro credits scene backround I chose isn't showing up. Also the most annoying thing is it won't let me play in fullscreen it says "Failed to set the requested fullscreen mode, reverting to original resolution window mode." and when I click ok the screen is a small box in the middle of my screen which is highly annoying. How do I fix this? Also I was wondering in BFE in the game tab, which FMV Cutscene do I pick for like the advent children opening video?

Advent children opening video?  ???

The output resolution is set higher than your monitor can manage. Check the resolution of your monitor.

Yeah I figured out the fullscreen issue. Now I have another issue, sound issue. I have my laptop hooked up to my TV via HDMI, the TV outputs all the sound effect sounds but no music except for in the opening video, my laptop outputs the music. So my TV is outputting the sound effect sounds and my laptop is outputting the music. How do I make ALL the sound output from my TV?

Also does this game/mod support game controllers? Like if I hook up my PS3 controller and use motion joy, will that work?

There have been a few reports in the past of people who hook up sound through a separate receiver output like your TV, but it gets the same results. I don't have that  kind of setup to fiddle with it, but it's possible the driver doesn't support that. I don't really know for sure though.

There is a mod for 360 controller support, so perhaps console controllers don't work? I use a PC Gamepad, and it works fine.

ok i checked and the one im using is the remastered - the remix difficulty mode, which honestly im finding a little too easy. so how would i go about resolving the issue? would changing up the difficulty mode fix it or would i need to do something else? if changing the mode will fix it, what would be a good mode to switch to that will up the difficulty and make it a bit more challenging.
also another question i have i think has to do with the spell names mod? im assuming that the new spell names mods affects the limit break names? for cloud his 2nd limit break, which is supposed to be called cross-slash, is called jinx slash. do i uncheck new spell names to revert it back or is it something else?

Pretty sure it's related to the shaders and its effect on the transparency of that scene. What I did was run into the wind, which knocked me back and put me into a battle. As soon as battle ended, I had the forward direction held down and was able to run through. It's one of the very few glitches in the game we haven't fixed yet.

This is me doing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzWb-zMsjLo&t=17m50s

The problem with HDMI is that the graphic card has its own soundcard. You need to change the soundcard in the configure FF7config.exe when using HDMI. But remember to switch back to the default soundcard when unplugging from HDMI or the game will crash.

Hi everyone,

First thanks to the creators of the mods - I'm having a blast reliving my days in HD, and playing some challenges!  Thanks also to EQ2Alyza for being patient and responding to youtube, forums, and everywhere else possible.

The FAQ has covered every tweak that I need to make this game sing, however, I've got a black bar at the bottom of my screen in the Field screen only.  I'm running two monitors, and don't seem to easily be able to take a screenshot, so please allow me to list some of the (I think pertinent?) settings that may be the problem.

My monitors have a native resolution of 1920 x 1080.  In the bootloader configuration, I have entered these same values, and even gone so far as to match every config option as in the FAQ to no avail.

Full Screen, Preserve Aspect, Vsync, Refresh Rate at 60, Internal Resolution of 3840 x 2160.  The mods I'm running are best in show from the bootleg.exe, including Facepalmer, Ozmy, etc.

Please let me know if there's anything else useful that I might post here to solve this little issue!  Thank you for your time, and look forward to your reply!

Edit: I had enough time to comb through this entire thread and answered my own question.  For others that may see this post:

You have black bars because you have preserve aspect turned on and there's always one on the bottom.

It looks like there are corrupted files. It may be due to an aborted installation or lack of admin rights during install (which shouldn't have happened). Maybe it's lacking admin rights to run properly. Have you launched the game as administrator?

Are you running windows 8 or 8.1? I had an issue where even though I had checked the "run as adminisrator" box, it was running normally. Might be worth going through all the applications you need to run as administrator and unchecking and rechecking them :)
