Looks good - I'll start seeding when I get home :)

Garland demonstrated a gameshark code that removes all the water from the map, but it's pretty glitchy...

Part 1
Part 2

Edit: Part 2 actually has him navigating the map as if he's on the Northern Crater snow fields, interesting watch.

General Discussion / Re: How do I mod on the PSX Emulator?
« on: 2013-07-08 08:50:37 »
There are only a few select mods that will work on the PSX version - the majority of mods and pretty much all visual upgrades and model replacements are designed for the PC version only. Grab a copy off Steam or the Square-Enix store and there are plenty of tutorials on here to help you get started.

Hrm, that link is down as well. The CHIBICON.RAR file, in specific. I can't seem to locate it in the torrent itself, either. I'll figure it all out. Thanks all!

Ahh, sorry for the runaround. I've actually done some proper checking, and that particular file, as well as all of the other dahfa Chibi model files, are included in the base Bootleg Configurator package. Grab it from PitBrat's thread here. There's also a torrent available from Tifa's Bootleg thread here if Google Docs is all used up. It's a much smaller and more basic package then the full pack of Bootleg Mods, but has the ones you're looking for. Hope this helps!

In a semi-related direction, I've seen similar random outcomes (like turning into the key of the ancients) caused on the PSX version by overflowing the Gil counter using gameshark codes. GarlandTheGreat on YouTube documented a whole bunch of them in a series of videos (Part 1 here):

I don't want to keep pressing, but it seems the rapidshare rehost on the page is down as well. It's all (as far as I can tell) included in the massive torrent, but I'd simply like JUST those files. Oh well i guess?

If you jump onto The Big List of Mods, you can grab them from Google Docs by clicking the FILE link next to the listing of each of the Chibi models.

Otherwise, just set in your torrent client to not download the files you don't want - whichever way works better for you :)

I haven't seen this before - did you take any screenshots?

Bootleg Questions / Re: [Tutorial] Tifa's Bootleg

Alright, thanks again. I'd be super duper ecstatic to replay Bootleg if the torrent was faster ;-;

I'm monitoring the torrents, and there is some kind of throttling on my seedbox atm. Investigating now, but my hosting company is having some issues. Persevere, and it'll be done soon :)

Australian release is a'go - but GMG has it for $5 cheaper at $11.99 (As of right now)

7. So, is there anything that can be done?

You can try a manual conversion before installing Bootleg, then follow the instructions for installing as if you have the 1998 version of the game.

Grab the converter from this thread: WIP a patch to convert new FF7 to old

EDIT: Make sure to run the converter as Administrator, or else it'll throw up an error :)

What operating system are you running? Windows 7 & 8 (possibly Vista also) has some issues with the auto-patching from 2012 to 1998 version.

I think invincibility/teleport spamming is the way to go - I've got the summoning sword, so I can't do stacks of damage all at once. Time to craft me some potions.

Also, don't go the summoning sword - works great against every screen in the game... except the boss in the castle keep =_=

Any recommended strats for that boss? I've upped my HP and use a Turtle Potion to take some extra damage, but all seems to be for not much, can't get it below about 500HP. Maybe you could use a stack of seeds and just whittle him down with scrolls?

I've put too many hours into this already.

Curse you candies! I have things to do!

Team Avalanche / Re: [HD Remake] WIP Sector 5 slums

It wouldn't make any sense to have a seat that is that dramatically different in size. Could you substitute it for another kind of seat that would logically be that size?

Also, although there is a walkmesh in that area, there isn't any characters actually walking in that area, correct? So would it matter as long as it looked correct with the sitting NPC?

General Discussion / Re: background mods
« on: 2013-04-22 23:05:05 »
Probably the easiest method is through the use of Bootleg

Check out the Tifa's Tutorial page for instructions on how to use it, and go through the mod list once you've got the Bootleg program to find the high res backgrounds. (This page, under Field Textures)

Bootleg will do all the legwork for you from then onwards.

If there will be downloadable content for alternative outcomes for the end of this game, then let me know. I have not beat the game yet.

Well, I've got the season pass purchased - fingers crossed the DLC is of the Bioshock 2 - Minerva's Den quality level!

Ahh yes, the post-ending-shock of Infinite :P. It was a damn good game, which offered a great ride, and has some good twists. What'd you think of it? I'm keen to hear another opinion on it, as I really loved it on the whole, and thought it handled some difficult subject matter quite well.

[negative time]
I will say that the more I think about the game, the less I admire the ending, the motivations of characters seem more out of place, the game as a whole seems to make less... sense. There isn't that drive that he first Bioshock, and even Bioshock 2, had behind it.
[/negative time]

Just hold onto the fact that it was a great ride, 'cos it was still definitely worth playing. :)

I actually pay $4.99/month on mediafire so that some files never expire  :)

And I'm hosting a seedbox to ensure that the files are always available in a secondary place. What more could they want? :P

45
Um... is this legal?

Ha.
I'd be thinking not, especially if the 3D map was taken directly from the game's geometry :P

Have you tried mounting the ISO's using a virtual drive manager? (ie. Daemon Tools, PowerISO, etc.)
Apparantly, you may also need to edit the registry to ensure that the game points to the correct virtual drive (Taken from this post on Eyes on FF forums):

Quote
Open the Start Menu, click 'Run...', type in regedit and click 'OK'.

Navigate to:
Code: [Select]
My Computer > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Square Soft, Inc > FINAL FANTASY VIII > 1.00 Once the 1.00 'folder' is open, you should see the key called 'DataDrive' (it's the 3rd one from the top for me).  Right-click 'DataDrive' and then 'Modify' (NOT 'Modify Binary Data').  Change the Value Data to the drive letter that Daemon Tools generates when it's emulating a drive (F: in my case).

Click OK and close the Registry Editor.

Now, run Daemon Tools and have it emulate a drive.  Go into My Computer if you want to make sure you set DataDrive to the correct drive letter.  Mount the ISO image that you put into the FF8_DISC1 folder, and play the game!

Unfortunately, I don't have a PC version of FF8 to confirm this, but it sounds consistant with copy protection methods of the era.

Troubleshooting / Re: FF7 Bootleg, Missing MO.exe

This is a better list than The Big List of Mods. It organizes all the mods exclusively for Bootleg, and they are all categorized in the order you will see for the BFE.exe UI.

Nggh, I'm a muppet - forgot about your list >_>

Are you getting the links from PitBrat's Big List of Mods? The link provided there loaded fine on my computer.

Current as of today, here is the direct link to the Google docs download for Final_Fantasy_VII_Remix_v2-5-1_Installer.part13.rar.

Hope this helps.

My seedbox is running just fine, slowness appears to be on your end. Persevere, and it will be done eventually :P
