Hi!

I seem to have a crapload of free time at the moment and nothing to spend it on... and I was thinking of picking up my now 2 years old idea of making the FF7 Soundfont from the original PSX samples. I have all the instruments ripped from the PSX version and so now all I need to do is compile them all into a Soundfont and then edit the MIDI files and link them up to the proper patch and edit a few things here and there. This will also include the OWA lyrics. I could do this all by myself I guess but anyone wanna help out maybe? I haven't been here for a while so I don't know if I have missed anything like this but it's do-able!

Wheeeeeeee! Thanks for ya time!  :-D

Archive / MIDI problem... it's not playing?
« on: 2007-02-08 21:26:29 »
Hi!

As soon as I start a new game, when the train FMV has finished playing, i get absolutely no MIDI music at all until after the first battle is finished. I'm using an Audigy 2 ZS but it's never happened before. Any ideas why it's doing this?

Hi!

As many of you will know there was a sound missing from the PC version of FFVII that was in the PSX version... it is when Cloud uses his 'Omnislash' limit break. He holds his sword up and there is meant to be a sound played when it flashes but it's not in the PC version for some reason... maybe because the sounds overlap or something? Anyways, do you think it would be possible to restore this sound to the game... or is that too complex?  :-?

Scripting and Reverse Engineering / moviecam.lgp
« on: 2004-07-12 20:38:47 »
Hi!

A while back I posted about fixing the movies in which the characters were delayed, etc. Someone, who I think was either Rubicant or Jedimark, then posted about the moviecam.lgp file. I extracted the files with Jenova Birth and found that the movies that have the characters inserted over the top of the movie have data whilst the others have no data.

I haven't a clue on any of the data in there, but maybe some of you do. I think the main movie that has the problem is the movie when Dyne and Barret get shot in the hand. Does anybody understand any of the coding? :?

General Discussion / FFVII 'Ultima' edition?
« on: 2004-05-16 18:19:18 »
Hi!

Whilst searching through the forums on adventchildren.net, I came across a thread saying that an 'Ultima' edition of FFVII for the PC is available:

http://forums.adventchildren.net/index.php?showtopic=5895

Replaced MIDI with mp3? Is this a real version?  :-?

Hi!

I'm sure that a lot of you know that the FMV that plays when Dyne and Barret get shot, that the character animations are completely out of sync. Is it possible to find out the character timing events when they are meant to appear and disappear and edit them?  :erm:

Hi!

For those who haven't noticed, the new FF7:AC trailer has been released... and it's looking better and better every time they release a new trailer! Unfortunately I haven't seen it yet, only screens, because I'm at school and could only view it via .mpg only. Is it me, or does this movie seem to becoming closer to one of the best films ever!  :D

General Discussion / Why are people so confused with this?
« on: 2004-04-29 09:00:20 »
Hi!

I just read a post on the 'Completely Unrelated' section and found the following post by Synergy Blades:

Quote
To be fair, you could make a post with 50 negative things about, say, FF7 in a similar vein to yours. Hell, I could, and in my opinion FF7 was the best of the lot. e.g, why does everyone in the world idolise Sephiroth when by the end of the game every party member surpasses his level/strength etc. anyway? Why can't you revive Aeris with Revive materia, seems daft that dead party members can rise from the grave in battle or in the field with Phoenix Down, and when Aeris dies, that's it.

NO! It's the Aeris conflict again! I don't understand why people can't grasp the obvious. You don't ever die in a battle, you are knocked out. The KO status doesn't kill you. When you get a huge sword shoved through your chest, you aren't knocked out... you are dead.  :roll:

Archive / FAQ addition idea...
« on: 2004-04-27 09:10:59 »
Hi!

I'm sure a lot of you all know that each problem encountered on the forums has users with different hardware all the time. So... I propose that a spreadsheet be made, showing what needs to be edited and tweaked with different hardware settings. For example, a page could be dedicated to graphics cards, and each model, if applicable, can have the seettings needed to run the game properly! What do you all think?  :D

General Discussion / Eyes on Me...
« on: 2004-03-22 10:53:20 »
Hi!

I was wondering what happened to the Japanese version of 'Eyes on Me' for FFVIII. Was a Japanese one ever made? I haven't seen or heard of it anywhere... but why would Square release the English version in Japan?  :-?

Hi!

I'm pretty sure that a lot of people are sick to death of trying to constantly tweak a poorly developed game from Eidos Interactive and that no effort was made for the game at all! That's why this petition is going to be put on the net:

Quote
Hi!

This is a petition for all of you Final Fantasy VII fans! As you are probably aware, Final Fantasy VII was released on the PC soon after the release on the PlayStation. However... the PC port of one of the greatest games ever made was not what the game deserved. The music was ported to a MIDI format, losing the original great music. The FMV scenes were also a big letdown, using a codec that was very poor in quality both visually and with the sound quality, too.

7 years down the line, Final Fantasy VII is still one of the greatest games ever made... and the FF community needs your help! What this petition would hopefully get would be a re-release of Final Fantasy VII for the PC... with the quality of the PlayStation version! It would be the 100% original version of the game (with the obvious DirectX improvements etc.) but with the movies at the same quality as the PSX and the original music from the PSX version also. I'm sure that it wouldn't take Square long to do this (or it's publisher) as the game is already made! Please sign this petition and hopefully Square-Enix (formally Squaresoft) will realise that their game needs to be ported to the PC with the standard that Final Fantasy VII deserves! A review of what would make the game what it should be is:

* High-quality FMV scenes
* The original music from the PSX version
* Proper integration of the rendered characters into the FMV scenes
* Non-pixelated backgrounds

...and any other things to get this game as close as possible in quality to the PSX version (except for the better graphics from hardware acceleration). Hopefully Square-Enix will respond to it's millions of fans of Final Fantasy VII and make this fantasy a reality!

I'm going to post this petition up on petitiononline.com and hopefully we might get somewhere. I know a lot of you will have huge doubts... but I'm gonna try anyway!  :D

Hi!

After trying very hard to get Zell's manuals for his limit breaks (using no cheat programs, of course!  :lol: ) I just can't use any of his final attack ones! The buttons are scattered all over the place and I can't type the commands fast enough.  :weep:

Archive / FFVII .str integration...
« on: 2004-03-02 08:52:22 »
Hi!

Is it possible to get the original .str files from the PSX version of FFVII and get them to play in the PC version? They are pretty much the same in file size and I'm sure that a plug-in wouldn't be that hard to find, would it? Also, whether you are using the standard MIDI music or the FF7Music patch with PSF support, the music for the opening theme and ending theme are included... so this could be played over the .str files!  :D

What does everybody think?  :-?

Troubleshooting / FF7Music...
« on: 2004-03-02 08:37:28 »
Hi!

As you my have guessed from the title... I have a few issues with the latest version of FF7Music which I hope you can help me with...  :-?

The first issue is that the final battle with Cloud and Sephiroth has no music playing. I believe it should play the extra .psf file with no intro if my memory is correct... but it doesn't play. Is there a problem with my configuration or something?  :-?

Secondly... my P4 has no problem using the resume function... but the fade in and fade out options don't seem to work. I got the source code off Ficedula to create my now nonexistant update to FF7Music... and it had lots of new fuctions with it. Did Ficedula release this?  :-?

I need the fade out fuction!  :weep:

Archive / I just can't win...
« on: 2004-02-23 13:16:42 »
Hi!

With FFVII not working correctly anymore on my PC I decided to turn to FFVIII to see if I could play that. Disabling the 8-bit texture thing on RivaTuner to get the FFVII text working correctly had a big effect on FFVIII in which the backgrounds were just wrecked because of missing parts etc.  :weep:

Now I get black boxes in the background of FFVIII in the battle menu's etc. and I can't win anymore with the stupid drivers for the FX series! I can't degrade as I have games dependant on the newer drivers. Is there any other ways of fixing the FFVII\FFVIII graphics problems without using RivaTuner or degrading my graphics card drivers?  :weep:

Archive / Honeybee Manor XG MIDI problem...
« on: 2004-01-16 20:14:14 »
Hi!

I don't know if anybody else has this problem... or if it's just me. If I let the Honeybee Manor MIDI file from the XG MIDI files play through... then some of the music is delayed by an entire section. Does anyone have this problem... and if so did they find a way to fix it?  :-?

Hi!

I just ordered a new PC! YAY!  :D

The basic main specs are:

* Intel Pentium 4 3.06Ghz processor with HT technology
* 512Mb RAM
* 160Gb hard drive
* 128Mb nVidia GeForceFX 5200
* DVD-ROM and DVD-RW (seperate)

It also comes with a keyboard and mouse and monitor! Wow!  :lol:

Anyway... I suppose that I will come up against many new problems with FFVII on it, won't I? I'm dreading the motorcycle chase scene.  :-?

Has there been any new patches released for, let's say, correcting the speed problem with the bike chase?  :-?

Hi!

Now, I know that there are ways of extracting the original sounds from the PSX version of FF7. I remember a tool called PSound somewhere that could do something like that...  :-?

Anyway, is it at all possible to create an exact replica of the original FF7 sounds to use for MIDI playback via a SoundFont? If so, what software would I need to compile the SoundFont etc.  :-?

I have noticed that Selphie seems to go off the screen before she is meant to when you are escaping from Dollet. Is this just me or has anyone else noticed this? Follow the link to see a picture of it.  :-?

General Discussion / Unused FF7 text...
« on: 2003-11-10 11:23:53 »
Hi!

I was using Ficedula's Cosmo to look at some of the backgrounds, and I noticed that at the scene where you steal the Tiny Bronco, there is some text that is meant to be shown. It has your party arguing on who flies the plane, and Rufus telling the soldier to fire at the plane. Are these text present in the PSX FF7? I haven't played the PSX version in ages and can't remember. That isn't the only one that I found, either...  :-?

Are these just text that Square forgot to remove, or decided not to use? It wouldn't be the fact that it has a problem showing text over movies, either. If you all remember back to the movie showing Nibelheim, it shows text over that movie...  :-?

Has anybody else found extra text somewhere, except from little Aeris extracts that weren't removed fully.  :-?

Archive / FF7Music - PSF Edition
« on: 2003-10-18 21:23:32 »
Hi!

This is mainly targeted towards Aaron, but if this idea goes well, you'll all know where to go for the program.  :D

I recently contacted Ficedula about an idea to create a PSF Edition of FF7Music. I know one is on the FFSF website, but it's the original FF7Music with the PSF files included in it. Ficedula has approved of my idea for this, in an email he sent me.

I will send you the GUI to your email shortly, Aaron. It doesn't do much because it's a GUI, but it differs from the original FF7Music. I hope that you can help me on the matter in making this little project a success. I know people are asking why I didn't PM this, but the program will be for all you FF7 fans out there. I also would like to say that I am not saying that the original FF7Music is crap. This is just an idea to make life a little easier...  :D

General Discussion / Windows XP burning vs. CloneCD...
« on: 2003-10-06 11:19:20 »
Hi!

I recently had to recopy FF7 PC, as disc 2 was starting to get worn out!  :D

Anyway, I just copied it over with Windows XP's built-in CD burner. The discs had no subchannel data or anything, so I just copied the files on their own. The installation was fine, if a little slower, but some of the FMV files are now 'glitchy', and it's a permanent glitch as the original FMV files are OK. Now, as some of you may know, CloneCD has now shut down due to certain laws, but I still have the latest version of it. Is there a 'fix' for the XP in-built burner?

Archive / XG MIDI delay...
« on: 2003-10-06 11:10:23 »
Hi!

On FF7 PC, when the XG MIDI is selected, it seems to always take a second or two to load, and this can get annoying, especially when a MIDI is played over an FMV. Does anyone know how to fix, or at least speed up, this MIDI annoyance?  :D

Archive / Problem with 'Eyes On Me' on disc 3 of FFVIII...
« on: 2003-10-02 19:32:06 »
Hi!

Now, someone may be dissapointed at me for saying this, but I copied FFVIII for the PC from on of my friends at school.  :(

I had played and finished it on the PSX, so I didn't think it would matter if I copied it for the PC. Well, anyway, I copied the files only from the original discs, and stupid me didn't copy the CD track. I didn't know it was there. Now, I own the FFVIII OST, and 'FITHOS LUSEC WECOS VINOSEC' (which is great!), so do I just go ahead and burn the CD track onto disc 3, or will it be more complicated?  :D
