The only help that I can offer still is my FF7 Game Converter.
Also works with the English version of the game and add a few more registry keys.

However, then the new flevel.lgp (2012) is used, a converter for old flevel.lgp (1998) is not included. So you copy the flevel.lgp in 1998 before ...
dunno, looks complicated man. and i already installed mods.. so. :D

Looks as if I can not help.
Only way to install all over again ...
already uninstalled twice, strictly following every procedure. still, nothing happens.

Would the registry entry to set sound to the default device be one of these?

64 BIT:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII\1.00\Sound]
"Sound_GUID"=dword:00000000

32 BIT:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII\1.00\Sound]
"Sound_GUID"=dword:00000000

hello, i've been having the same problem as the guy who posted this. i can't get past initializing the sound. the sound driver is selected but still it shows a black screen and returns to windows.

i tried editing the registry. however, i'm confused. how do you change the type of a registry value from binary to dword? what i did was erase the original binary sound_GUID and creating a new dword_guid with the same values as quoted. when i try to launch the ff7.exe, the registry value reverts back to being a binary and the value changes as well.

any ideas?

hello,

i followed every instructions strictly. i deactivated firewall, closed browsers, and anti-virus and even ff7-related folders/files. every mod was downloaded and no RED mod can be found in the mod listing. i've completed the installation, but here's my problem:

when i press "play" using the bootloader, it shows a black screen first and then after a few seconds, closes the ff7 game. nothing happens. anyone has any idea why? i'm confident that i followed every instructions carefully. i'm running windows 7 32 bit.

thanks a lot.
