I don't own any of the new consoles, so unless this is a PC release, I will not play it  :(

You don't have to apologize. I was just a little flustered with it. It's okay now  :)

Ugh, seriously. You don't have to send me a PM on YT, TWO PM's here, AND post this within one hour. What happened to 5 posts being required before PM's can be sent? :(

The links work fine, so it's something on your end. Google search for "Tifa's Package [Bootleg040 Mods]" if you're having issues still.

cloudkitt,

Yes, the BFE has a tab that lets you choose all the locations. The Temp folder location is in there as well.

TheOmegaFactor,

Open up FF7Config.exe and set a sound device in the Sound tab. When it's left blank, the game does as you described.

Solved Problems / Re: FFVII Installed Mods Undetected

You're not supposed to extract the files you downloaded. Bootleg will do all that for you during the install.

Hey guys, I'm trying to get bootleg working but during the process where it downloads the files it aborts, says it has ruined my main ff7 files and I have to reinstall. There are some things it cannot find, but they appear to be related to the remix files, which it can't locate. It tells me the FF7 remix is not on the FF7 game path. I tried to find remix manually but I too can't find it anywhere as it is obsolete and all the links are broken. Dying to play this game the way 2013 intended. Any help?

You can find the Remix files with working links on this site:

Use this guide to install Bootleg:

First off, thanks a Ton for renovating one of my most beloved games. It was worth the effort get Bootleg running.

My question is is it possible to change the soundtrack to a different one after having installed bootleg? I chose the default midis since I didn't know what the other ones were, but I would like to try and have it be the remastered version. Thanks.

Vesuvan

Hi Vesuvan,

You can change the music by finding and opening FF7Music.exe. When it opens, click the "Configure" button and navigate to the tab for changing music. Hit "Save and Exit" after you've made your changes..

Are you going to be around for a bit? I need probably the rest of the week to look over everything you have and make my requests  :)

They wanted a layout that works across all platforms (computer, tv, tablet, smart phone). It's very bland, but what can we do  :-\

Troubleshooting / Re: FF8 Occasional Scrambled Textures

Wondered about this myself. Does it look like these?

I'm guessing it could be one of the Visual C++ Runtimes since FF7 & FF7Config requires one of them, or the .NET Framework 2.0 is corrupt .

After reproducing the error try the following:

    1. Right Click my Computer
    2. Click Manage
    3. Navigate to Event Viewer -> Windows Logs - > Application
    4. Check which DLL created the error.
    5. Google the DLL to find out which Runtime Package needs to be reinstalled.
    6. Login as the real Administrator, the user is actually called "Administrator" (by default in Vista and Win7 it is disabled).
      To enable the Admistrator
         a. Right Click My computer
         b. Click Manage.
         c. Navigate to Local Users & Groups -> Users
         d. Activate the "Administrator" by changing it's properties, and set a password by right clicking the user
         e. Restart and login as the Administrator
    7. Download and Reinstall the Runtime Package.
    8. Restart and login as your normal User

I just recently had the FF7Config.exe crash on me, and I can confirm that this method works. I couple things I want to note though.

1) When you find the DLL error in step 4, you can perform a Google search to download the single file. I was able to with mine, and it saved a little time not having to install a Runtime Package.

2) The Windows log tells you the folder where the DLL error occurred. Before you go to paste your file in that folder, you need to right-click Properties and uncheck Read-Only for the folder and all its files. You also need to cut/paste the old file you are replacing into another safe place, and use it as your back-up. Regardless of all the Administrator privileges given, it wouldn't ever allow me to copy over an already existing file.

Yes, run Bootleg again to make the changes.

Note though that this is not an uninstaller, so unchecking or selecting "No Change" does not mean it uninstalls back to the original. It simply skips that feature to be modded, and is only useful if you are running Bootleg for the first time and want it to keep the original. Since you have already run Bootleg once, if you want the original back, then you must start with a fresh install again.

Link updated for the torrent. Will work on a direct d/l soon.

Yes, it's a false positive. Check the Nightmare thread, I think it has another download link.

You should be able to manually change the models you speak of using the ulgp tool. If you want to revert back to original game models, then you will have to start with a fresh install of FF7 and run Bootleg again. I don't know what settings you want to tweak, so it may or may not require manual work.

The basic thing to know is that Bootleg is an installer, not an uninstaller, so it can install and override certain things, e.g. models, textures, music, etc. when you run it again. These files are typically easier to find within the game installation folder, so manual installs can be done if you know what files you want to change and where to find them. Any of the more "picky" features do not have an easy way of uninstalling, so in those cases you would be best off starting with a fresh install and running Bootleg again.

My absolute honest advice is to always start with a fresh install and run Bootleg again. Layering a whole bunch of manual installs on top of each other, especially after Bootleg has already run, requires a lot of inventory work and is sometimes tricky to get right. That is why Bootleg was made to automate the process  :)

The suggestions by Timu have disappeared since we reverted. Could I get those in writing again?

I finally finished my playthrough with the Hardcore mod. I thought it started off fairly well, but eventually tapered off into something I wasn't quite looking for in the late game.

I'll need a small break first, and then I'll be giving this a shot to see how your AI scripts work.

2722
I'm about 3 or 4 videos away from finishing FF7, then I'll be moving onto FF8. I'll work on a beginner's guide for setting up Aali's Driver and the few other mods we have here. I think I'm going to be in store for a lot of glitches and bugs in my playthrough, but that's where we have to begin to move forward I feel.

One of my goals for the videos is to promote other programmers and modelers to come here and help develop the tools and mods we need. Magochocobo has shown us what could potentially be done, but we have no current way of importing the work into the game it seems. It's a long ways off for sure, but patience and hard work has always paid off for the people here at Qhimm.

The issue is that you ran the Remix installer, which is outdated and broken.

Follow this Bootleg installation guide and you will be fine: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=13212.0
