Makubex's Custom Models
« on: 2009-08-13 20:22:27 »
Well. Hello Folks. How are you all doing?
:D.

As you all may know, timu sumisu, and neo cloud strife, and others.. are making custom models for the game Final Fantasy VII. And yes, I thought i would take a crack at it myself.
But instead of doing all the main characters like timu sumisu  is going to do. I thought i would to some of the not so main, but all still so important. (such as rufus... hojo... and all them turks ..  )

But, to start out, i thought i would do a dissidia style cloud. To test my skills.
Here is some shots of my work.
Mind you, this is my very first, utterly custom model.
So do not judge harshly.
:P.

Bare in mind,
There are merely W.I.P shots.
I have no idea how to texture... so ...
who knows what will ever become of these models.

This is all just for fun any ways.

good start, a peice of advise though, try to keep things in one mesh, and try not to use primitives (spheres, cylinders)

you pretty much need a primitive to start some part of the model... unless you plan to abuse the create polygon tool...

I generally start all my models with a cube for the chest or a cylinder for the head...

well you can start from the face or chest with two vertices and then keep extruding them

but i would start with a cube or cylinder though

or use make human tool to create a human shape then based on the official art of cloud to edit

I will try that... when i am done doing this model my way.
hahahah.

*sorry if that sounded arrogant..  :|.... i am just messing with a lot of the functions now..*

I still want your guy's feed back.
:D

I took what you guys said into consideration.. and i am getting rid of the sphere shoulders..
and I merged the waist and chest.......
Hahah.

I also made the arms look more.... muscley..

i am redoing the feet... and i haven't done the shoulders yet.

I seem to remember Halkun saying in Viashino's thread that the make human models are too high-poly for video games (or something like that ). Can it make more basic human-shaped models as well?

Quite frankly.
The make a human tool. I am not going to use that, for anything but pure fun..
i want to make all the models, that i plan on using one day (most likely in the distant.. very distant.. future) by hand.
It gives me a sense of accomplishment.
Knowing i made this piece of crap from scratch.

:D

XD

I am using the dissidia model. as a reference.
Is that bad?

The Dissidia model will give you a good idea of the FF7 visual style. If you're doing characters tghat already have higher-res models, perhaps hyou could use those models as reference (such as Hojo's Crisis Core models).

How many new posts are you making? lol, and does this topic mean you've given up on your chibi models?

Re: Makubex's Custom Models
Not at all.
My chibi mod is still going.
I just discovered something while making the chibi mod that editing verteces are easy.
xD....

so... i decided to learn how to make my own models, instead of editing what was already there.

and more progress.

The shoulders were hard to make.. and they aren't quite right, me thinks.

And I plan to make as many topics as i have time and ideas for.
xD.

He's looking a little better now. The arms seem a bit short, but that might be because his legs aren't connected to his body and it's hard to judge.

I am going to make the waist and the gluteous maximus  (thinks i spelled that wrong.. O.O) next.

There's no "o"

yea he is right but you can throw almost anything into ff7 (quote from borde) since the char.lgp is located inside your hard drive not the cd

You're right; everyone wants to make mods for the characters that have the most mods already.  :|

I kind of scrapped the old model.
And started a new one.

isn't he smexy?
xD.

Alright here is how its going down!
er....

up?

side ways?

Who cares....

well anyways...
I am not going to do cloud.
I want some one who is overly ignored, but just as important.
I don't really know who to do.
I was thinking about doing Palmer...
but this body arch type is a little...
Too buff.

So who do you think i should do?
xD.

random npcs, like in the train, look at the chibi you modded for cloud, which about is the ideal proportions and shape we want for chibis (i think... havnt seen a screen of it in a bit. So work on modeling parts like hands, n feet n torsos n stuff, so that you could put them together to make a number of chibis. (just needing texturing). so work on parts!

Oh my! That poor person will surely catch a cold! 8-)

I suppose you could do a Palmer battle model. Rufus would be another interesting choice.

Speaking of Rufus, does anyone know where I could find a texturist? I'm terrible with organic textures...

I'm going to be remaking my Rufus model for free use (using no part of Square's models this time)

But yeah, Rufus could use a new chibi.
