This is quite the accomplishment. Vehek, if you could release those Blender scripts, we may be able to refine your procedure and advance our modding capabilities for FF8.

In FatedCourage's new texture hashmaps, there are a lot of entries that start with asterisks. Will they still work, or do the asterisks comment those hashes out?

The link is broken for me. All it says is "Diese Datei ist leider nicht verfügbar." And when I tried to use a Deutsche proxy, all it gives me is a red I/O graphic with the word OFFLINE.

There are currently no FF3 mods for any 3D version of the game. Platform-specifically, the PSP version of FF3 uses the same model textures as the PC version, though the HUD/Menu images and pre-rendered videos are quite a bit lower res, and I suspect the frame rate is lower. But as far as I can tell, in all versions of the game, the textures are rendered with nearest filtering which looks pixelated and retro. For such LQ textures, PPSSPP has this amazing form of texture filtering called xBRZ Hybrid Bicubic that makes all images and textures in the game look smooth and sharpened, in a way that currently no other version of the game can. For the most renderer-specific graphical-enhancing mods, I suggest buying the PSP version, applying any necessary language patches available if it's a foreign copy, dumping the ISO to your hard drive, installing the latest build of PPSSPP, and then depending on your computer or tablet's graphics capabilities, running the ISO on PPSSPP with various graphics enhancement settings. Personally, when I'm focusing on quality rather than maximum performance, I use 4x resolution, 16x AF, 5x Hybrid Bicubic Upscaling, and Natural/FXAA post-processing shaders.

3D remakes of both Final Fantasy III and IV have been released for DS, PC, iOS, and Android devices.

Lastly, you are right. Magochocobo has not released the textures he has done for Edea, Raijin, Rinoa's Party Dress, Kiros, Ward, Garnet, and Zidane.

I usually just wait until the list on the first post is updated. Can you just arbitrarily add those extra codes to the end of objmap.csv without taking out other codes?

Qhimm has banned ripped models and textures for years. If you want to make a worthy contribution to this discussion, you'll have to do better than that.

I really like this mod, because I hate those blocky models, but I have one qualm about it. Some of the video descriptions say you cut out some of the frames. As much as I hate the low-poly field models, I'd rather have them in a few problem frames then have those frames removed altogether. If you find a way to fix or replace these frames, I'd be happy to replace my current set of those videos, which are part of cmh175's HQ FMV project, with these. Shinra's navy would seem more realistically capable of taking down Sapphire Weapon when they aren't looking like a bunch of stick figures. Seriously, keep up the good work, these are fantastic.

By the way, there's a video enhancement project called SVP, that can convert videos from 24 fps to 60 fps on the fly. Does it seem like a good idea, or would such high frame-rates be unrealistic for such an old game engine?

The hi-poly original style render looks fine, but I'd rather a Crisis Core-looking 1st Class Cloud; with an outfit akin to Lightning's SOLDIER 1st Class garb. As good as the old 90s render is, it's nose is a massively long L, not to mention purple isn't a very heroic color. Plus, considering where the belt is in that picture, his torso looks almost degenerately small compared to his legs.

That's sad to hear, that FF8 PC is largely a two-bit PS1 emulator. Is the FF8 Steam release any better? If so, which version of the game would be most viable to release such a mod for?
Either way, if the Triple Triad HD cards truly look better than the originals, you could always downscale them to PS1-size and replace the game's original cards with the low-res HD copies. It wouldn't look MUCH better, but it should be an improvement.

Look, I don't have a Mediafire Pro account, and I don't plan on getting one any time soon. So I can't download the whole mod at once, I have to download every single piece at a time. And while this mod looks good, it's not worth the trouble it would take to download 30 separate files. If you really want people to download this mod, you should make it a zip or rar file download, rather than a folder.

I noticed that many of the icons in iconfl03_02.png and some of the other images are still heavily pixelated. Why did the authors upscale those icons with nearest filtering when they could have gone with linear or xBRZ?

For me, the big goal would be to get hires textures on the models. Magochocobo released a ton of high quality textures for all the major character models, but he had no way to get them on them. If we can figure that out, Final Fantasy 8 will look absolutely fantastic.
