Vibration = Vibracion.
The "trigger! (aprieta!)" what is the context? it sounds a little weird

Oh yes... Vibracion ... along with si and no.  Derp.  I will fix that right away.

"Aprieta!" is only on screen when you trigger squall's Renzokuken and have to hit the 'trigger' button several times in order to score the limit break's "Perfecto!"
The idea of it being a real "trigger" is that squall has a gunblade - and on PSX, you hit the 'trigger' button R2 (or R1, its been a long time.)

german version "WAHL" to "AUSWAHL",  "FAHIGKEIT" to "FÄHIGKEIT", "FEHL" to "VERFEHLT" if it's to long "MISS", "BESONDERE" to "SPEZIAL", "TREFFEN" to "TREFFER"  ;)
thank you for dealing with a german version of SeeD !!!

@Wursttiger THANK YOU!!! I have been doing this via Google translate and a few other reference websites to put this together.  I'm glad I made so few mistakes! LOL
You are welcome! People around the world deserve to have SeeD Reborn in their lives ;)
Also - was it my imagination or did Square really misspell Ausloser as Ausloer? Was that intentional?  I corrected it, but I wasn't sure I should have  8-)

I will work on this right away!
[EDIT **** DONE - Tell me what you think!!!!]

If you guys want to know a way to thank me -- you could always buy my album on iTunes

"T. Juego" could be "Tiempo" and "T. Res" just "Restante", btw T. Juego and T. Res they are not that bad haha

Heheh, ok - I'll keep T. Jue and T. Res.  Anything else?

753
T. Juego = "Tiempo de juego", maybe just "Tiempo" (Time).
But what about the "Time" at the end of the line that means "Time Remaining"?  Could I use Juego for "Play" like they do in the English version? (or "Game" like in the German version?) Then T. Res could be Tiempo.

Does that make sense in Spanish? Or just the English translation?

Yeah, ready to go... for sure... M4v3R program, ff8msg does not support Greek fonts. Tried to edit the text but it won't save. Also what does kernel.bin contain?

I'm really starting to hate on latin alphabet after all this torture. I find it a lot easier to translate the whole game by myself than mess with the alphabet...

kernel.bin contains all names of abilities/items/magazines/spells -- essentially EVERYTHING that isn't dialogue.  You can use Carbuncle to translate it to your own language and then export it.

Thanks 5way!  I just found it myself.  mngrp.bin in menu.fs and you should be ready to go, Leon!

Have you already translated the kernel.bin with Carbuncle for the rest of your translation?

What I need atm is a way to edit the start screen. If I translate the words can someone replace them?  (New game, continue, credits etc) Or at least guide me through to do it myself.

Oh man... I remember there's a thread about that somewhere... let me go find it.

Aavock is cool dude! Whatever you want from me man!

http://www.twitch.tv/leonhartgr/b/554210128

I watched a bit of the video -- did you guys make more progress?  There are still parts that are bleeding from what I see... some of your text is too tall and going up into the bottom of the other text now (mainly your lower case letters). But it looks like things are getting better!

French Update!

This looks like it might be done:

Spanish Version Progress:

I made a few changes to the translation here.... JeMaCheHi - any suggestions on re-translating?  The T. jue and T. Res seem kind of lame to me... should I make T. Jue into Duracion? and what about Time Remaining? Does any single word work or does it have to be a phrase?  Any help will be greatly appreciated!

German Version Progress:

I'm a German noob, so can someone please help me with these translations? I wanted to be more thorough than the original game, but I may have botched it.  How does this look?? Any suggestions?

759
What is "Estado" though? Is that more than one word? Because it's definitely not a French word :P

Also I had never noticed the Elemental and Status defense icons were shields

Estado is Spanish lol.  Some sprites are called up only in certain languages (like the japanese on the left - which was more of a consistency experiment than anything).

Some of those icons were really hard to make out before ;)

Releases / Re: [FF8PC-Steam] Add-on DLLs (2014-07-11)
« on: 2014-08-03 18:06:22 »
Hello!  I actually have no idea how the mods were created.  If you go to the original post where I linked to the download you may be able to track down the programmer,  But it's been years since he's posted.   I just found a way to resurrect the old add on mods they used to use in the FF8_Launcher.  I do know someone who is editing the difficulty of the game.  He posted about vit 0 immunity in the tools section.  Maybe he has some insight?

I wouldn't know how to decompile the .dll to see what it's doing.  Anyone out there have any ideas?

FF8 Tools / Re: [FF8PC/PSX] Field editor - Deling (0.8b)
« on: 2014-08-03 17:59:44 »
Your fonts look too wide. They bleed into each other.  I don't know if this is the only problem but each letter must be contained in a 12x12 pixel block.  Also- some letters have very thin widths like "i" and "l" that must be edited in the tdw file.  I would set everything to 12x12 and go from there, making them thinner only if you need to.  Btw the hi res files are 24x24 pixel blocks.

It looks like the leftmost pixel of each letter is bleeding into the previous letter in the sequence.

762
The darkness/lightness isn't something to worry about.  I'll be fixing all inconsistencies later.  On that note, I will keep out all accent marks from words in caps. Thanks for the extra words! I'll put them in next.

French SeeD Update!

Let's see if this is more like what you guys are looking for:

764
Stop talking like any of these issues are my fault or that of the mod. The music issue is not only completely your fault but wouldn't come as a surprise if you had read the damn release post for the mod at least once.

You can try again when you learned how to not destroy your own installation of the game.

This is the unfortunate side-effect of free mods.  No customer service department.  ;)
If you need extra care and help with something (that is already posted on the forums elsewhere... especially the original post), it is extremely frustrating to the community when fingers start getting pointed.  Especially since time is money - and none of us are making any real money off of the time and love we put into this.  It feels like a personal attack, when in fact it's just frustration butting heads on both ends.

N7 isn't made for the masses, so Tengo Kuugen has to deal often with 'Why is it so hard!?' or 'What have you done to the story!?' or 'I don't like the way it plays the music!'. That he will have an unpleasant behavior to people who has problems with his mod, because they use it in an unpredictable way should be a bit understandable.
There are some mods out there, which can't combined with others and maybe it's the fault of Bootleg to not warn you properly, but it is also an user error. Inform yourself about the mods you want to use. Maybe the next bootleg is more user friendly. But please keep in mind people are sacrifice their free time for the mods and tools so take a rude answer not as offensive against you, sometimes they are simply annoyed by answer the same questions again and again. ;)

I personally feel that if you need extra troubleshooting assistance other than what's provided (unless it's a huge legitimate bug that hasn't been addressed before -- and even then...) that you should donate to the creator of the mod.  Even a small amount.  Not only does it show personal investment and thoughtfulness (which is what we're giving you!), I consider modding an art.  And since the Renaissance and before, art has had its patrons - otherwise you only get what you -can- get with the limited resources available.  On one hand, this forces a really interesting peaceful coexistence with artists, designers, and programmers (and sometimes people who are all three!) But on the other hand, it creates large rifts of time between when the artist can find time to work on it.  These are just observations from witnessing countless hours of wasted debate over troubleshooting and whatnot.

I also kind of feel that Square Enix owes this forum something for bringing thousands of people to its games in the form of re-imagined nostalgia over the years.  After-all, re-playability is one of the largest facets of future profit projections in the industry today.  Every time someone puts out an update to an awesome mod like this - it's almost like a MMORPG patch... getting people to play the game with a fresh sense of wonder... all over again... for the 3rd, 4th, or (in some cases) 25th playthrough.   I mean... could you imagine if Bootleg was sponsored by SE?  As DLC?  I think it would be amaze-balls for everyone involved... especially if SE acted only as a Publisher and didn't try to take over the project. (and why would they when they can just pay to get something that already works? without their own r&d? lol)

Just a few thoughts... sorry it got ranty.

All menu headers never got translated in french (but they did in Final Fantasy IX). The french words are not that different: Name=Nom, Time=Temps, Choice=Choix, Num.=Qte. (abbreviation for "Quantité"), Item=Item/Objet, Magic=Magie, Status=Statut (badly translated to "Situation" in the main menu), Help=Aide, Target=Cible, Attack=Attaque, Ability=Compétence, Wait=Attente, Elemental=Elementale, Bullet= Balle(s), Cards=Cartes, Price=Prix.

Squall's limit "Trigger" and "Hit" got translated but "Perfect" was left in english wich is quite inconsistent; personally I'm okay with the english words.

Are these universal french? or canadian french? or?  I want to make sure that these are what would be used in a real square translation.  If this is what they use in FF9, then that's a huge bonus.  It's a lot more work, but the top field really shouldn't be that difficult.

766
so we know its feasable so now maybe someone can tell us

how do you do it?
what should i not do when i have more then one copy of FF7PC installed ?
any other good advice about keeping multipal copies of FF7PC installed?

I don't know about FF7... especially if you have to use the Steam to OLD converter.  The versions of FF8 work independently of each other.

767
Here is a preview of the French version:

It was the first step towards completion - being the texture with the least amount of changes.

This is the template I'm using for the other languages, so they should be easy!

768
I have both, and they work fine together.  Maybe update your graphics drivers?

769
Yeah, in Spain, but not in this forum Anyway, Spanish version always sucked. When I bought the Steam version I thought the game would be multiregion, I'd really like to switch version, I don't care to play it in English...

LoL... don't say that... I'm spending all this time on making the Spanish version...   :?

770
Hi! this mod is amazing, unfortunately I have the Spanish version :'(. Maybe we can help you?
ESP: A los amigos que también están esperando, ¿podríamos ayudar en algo quizás?
PS: excuse me for my bad english haha

I recently spoke with Omzy and it looks like we might be able to get a spanish (german and french as well) version out there in 2-3 weeks.  It's been hectic for all of us this summer - especially Omzy - and I'm just glad we've come this far as quickly as we have!

Oh, and thank you!!  Your English was great BTW.

771
Thank you very much for your answer. :-)

IF I actually manage to make the game, I will see that all of these conditions will be met. You will also be asked again for approval just before release.

No problem! Glad you have a goal in mind.  also - I would like you to link to the original Tripod post when you do, not this one.

I'm glad people out there are enjoying my work!

772
Hello, I would like to try and make a Triple Triad game for android, and I want to ask permission to use the above materials.

If you allow me to use those materials, please tell me if and how you want to be credited.
If permission to use these graphics is not granted, I will completely understand and will not bother you any more about it.

*IF* I manage to actually make the game (I'm still a bit inexperienced at programming so it might be above my abilities), I will release it for free, since I don't really want to make any profit out of it, but only to have a decent looking Triple Triad game that I can play on my tablet. :-)

Thank you in advance for your time. :-)

You can use my art on these conditions:

1. You release this app as 100% Freeware
2. You find a way to link to the main post of this thread in your app. (button/ad/etc)
3. You also credit the art to MCINDUS at forums.qhimm.com in your credits area.

Permission is granted only if all points above are maintained through the life of your app.

So like qt-lzs, I publish my own tool to work with tim and tex formats.

Download on SourceForge
Contribute on GitHub

The main purpose of this command-line tool is to export and reimport a texture image to be able to modify this texture with an image editor.
But it is also possible to convert tim <=> tex, and to search and extract tim files from a file.

This is the tool I wish I had for the past year... lol  AMAZING.
If I'm going to extract a .tim or .tex from the .exe and try to re-insert it, am I going to have problems because the .exe wants to be exactly the same size?  I'm a nub and can barely wrap my head around command line, so forgive me if I sound ignorant.

Graphical / Re: FF8 World Map Texture Update
« on: 2014-07-26 02:09:53 »
Any luck on WM texture extraction? I have a free weekend, thought I'd give it another shot.

LoL no one wants to go get the textures ;)

It's a time consuming process, but a rewarding one.

Someone has to follow the Tonberry debug instructions and then fly ragnarok everywhere they can like Omzy said.
Then they need to sift through the images and delete any duplicates.  (delete uneccessary images as well.)
This will then give you the textures you need - make a copy of them, send them to Omzy and then retexture them.  After that, Omzy should be able to help you with the release.

Good luck. :)

The animation ending is pretty bad, yes..  what it should be showing is Holy blocking Meteor, but a reaction that is damaging the planet because it is too close to the ground.

I am almost certain that the line "opposite effect" is saying as Ultimania describes.  It's just a very very literal line in English.

"opposite effect" in this context seems to mean more "side-effect" or "unintended consequence"... but "making things worse" sure does work and make things simpler.
