So basically i have the steam version of the game and have been trying to get the game patched for the last 2 days using FF7_GameConverter_7H.exe provided in the tutorial but everytime i run it, it simply says installation found at " " and tells me to enter the path manually if none is detected but doing so gives me this strange error.

FIND: `/I: No such file or directory
FIND: `." ': No such file or directory
FIND: `/I' : No such file or directory
FIND: `\\./Documents and Settings': Permission denied

It keeps going on searching for the game i guess but it keeps saying Permission Denied or no such file or directory despite having run it as admin and simply hitting enter instead tells me the installation cannot be found, i even tried pirating a full original unmodified iso copy of the game and i get the exact same error so i really don't know what to do or how i can get 7th heaven working and i already renamed my hard drive to "FF7DISC1" before running the patcher so any help will be very appreciated thanks.

What is the installation path? Are you running with admin rights?

Yep i am running as admin, i reinstalled the game into several locations many many times and i still get the same error, i just cleaned my registry files and redownloaded the game into C:\Games and i still get the same thing i have tried just about everything. I hate to say it but i'm pretty sure the problem may lie in the program itself going by the errors i'm getting.
Here is a screenshot of exactly what i'm doing and what's happening

So a little update but after finding the files extracted from the program and taking a look at the .bat file i have managed to both add manual registry keys in the location it is searching for and replace
it with the correct registry location in the .bat program but both results in an error been unable to find ff.exe and my FF7Disc1 but i have already tried mounting the blank .iso and rename my hard drive, though it now knows where my game is installed to at least.

Run the game uninstall tut here http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=16538.0
Then install the game at a neutral location like C:/Games/Final Fantasy VII
/Users is definitely not recommended.
Paste screenshots of the converter errors (if they happen again), the My computer screen (for the disk image) and the install dir.

I use win10 x64 with steam also, and no problems at all.

Thanks but i tried that already, i still had to manually enter my registry keys in myself before it would detect the install location however i finally figured out my problem, apparently it is only checking Drive I: for everything, i needed to copy my game onto a usb until it finally started doing something but then i ran back into the same problem of it asking me to rename a drive to "FFDISC1" so i'm still stuck.

edit: going to try doing what you mentioned again and will report back with any errors i run into.

Alright so i just uninstalled steam, ran the FF7-registry cleaner followed by CCleaner and installed steam/FF7 again.
Screenshots will be in order so you can see what is happening.

So the main problem i have so far figured out is that it only searches in drive I:/ but i have also been forced to modify the registry key location inside the .bat file because it does not find the correct key's path and i can't even use the default location and have to copy the value elsewhere because it refuses to read it for some reason.

This is the original path it had set:
   SET "RegKey_Steam=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Steam App 39140"
And this is what i changed it to:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Steam App 39140
This is the default steam path registry location:
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Valve\Steam\Apps\39140"

Changing it to steam's original path or simply copying the keys into the original set location doesn't seem to be working so i had to copy the other steam location the program searches for so both steam locations within the .bat were exactly the same and adjust the registry to match it but that seems to have cause even more problems.

Use the default bat and don't do anything that's not in the faq. If it gives errors something is wrong with reg. Make sure you deleted all the keys in the registry before installing again (search for steam, ff7, final fantasy and 39140 and delete them).

I tried doing everything by default but it does not even bother searching for my default steam keys from what i can tell, i just got bootleg working so i guess ill just use that instead, thanks heaps for the help anyways.
