And, this is a just report, not problem.
Same character duplicated in table.
1A C8 : 記
1B A1 : 記
Both are effective on game.
Hyne always uses "1A C8 : 記".
If "1B A1 : 記" is exist in save, Hyne changes to "1A C8 : 記".

Japanese name problem

PSM (FF:ー, Prolonged Sound Mark) is gone.
Squall's PSM is always gone when open slot and do nothing and save.
Others will be gone when their entry is opened.
When entry is opened, their PSM is displayed, but PSM never saved to file.
Switch to other entry and revert, it's gone from display.
And, no effect if I re-add PSM on Hyne.
On select slot window, PSM not displayed.

I know why, it's also true for 逃, 堂 and 約. I will release the next version quickly, and there is a new text to translate...

I couldn't understand one place.

Problem on Japanese FF8.
About the Japanese name of Squall, Rinoa, Boco, Griever, and all GFs.
When display their entry in Hyne, some Japanese letter in their name will be broken.

It is good to have a option "Don't overwrite 'Original name value that user can specified in game' when saving file" for Japanese FF8.

Sure, it's a good idea, I recently watched the Japanese character table, I could perhaps use it, but it takes a lot of work to recognize all the characters (for me, poor French :p).

Here are the Japanese tables:

If you want you can copy the characters in UTF-8, I'd love to include them into Hyne.

If anyone is interested in developing a save editor, let me know. As of now my project is developed in C#, but I do picture a multi platform application. unless microsoft buys all rights to C++ within a short space of time, I'll most likely aim for a cross-platform editor.

Qt is really convenient, it can easily make beautiful things. Everyone agrees that Black Chocobo or Hyne have a great interface :mrgreen:.

Foreach playable characters:
 - 0: normal
 - 1: alternative (seed costume for Squall, Zell, Selphie, galbadian soldier for Laguna, Kiros and Ward)

This values can change during the game, so they are temporary, and this works for all battles, but not for each fields...

if i know myst6re its written in C++ and uses Qt for the gui. so it will be able to be crossplatform. as for the source thats up to him but i'm thinking it will be GPLv3... (purely just guessing)

I released the source code of Makou Reactor so I'll maybe do the same with Deling, but it will wait until I finish.

Next version soon, I'll try to take into consideration all the enhancement requests and bug reports.

EDIT: I used the already existing (though not quite getting everything right) model viewer from kvaks to spot a few potentially interesting files, namely c0m080, one of NORG's orbs (two bones, one anim that's not moving at all) and c0m125, one of Ultimecia/Griever's spirals (first two anims are respectively rotating clockwise around the vertical axis and counterclockwise), which hopefully ought to simplify figuring out the format quite a bit. Well, we'll see.

OK then. Well, I finally decided to just substract 0x8000 from each triangle/quad's first index and they all seem to make a lot more sense now, so I'll take a shot at assembling a mesh tomorrow.

I had forgot to talk about this substraction. You can do "poly3.vertex_indexes[0] &= 0x7FFF;". I have edited the wiki page.

Okay so, ff8 does not launch, it crashes after eidos logo. Normally this is not because of my data changes, because the version 0.7.9b works well.

Okay, found it and fixed it :)
The same problem affects all versions of FF8, its not a problem with the french version. Its pseudo-random but there's no workaround :-\
