SOLVED: Can't install ff7, no error messages
« on: 2011-05-01 03:42:11 »
I'm using isos (created backup a long time ago just in case, kept it on a usb stick) and i try to run the installer, but every time i do, it just returns me to the desktop. nothing, no error messages, just the desktop. Here are my system specs:

Windows 7 professional 64 bit
core I7 920 @ 2.67 ghz
asus rampage 2 extreme motherboard
nvidia 9600gt
4.00 gb of ddr3 ram @ 1333 mhz

would the OS be the problem? and if so, it there a way around it? I've tried using a virtual machine, but for some reason, it wouldn't run either.

Try running it in safe mode - Either that or wait a few hours/days once you've tried to run the installer, It should be running in the background without actually doing anything

I used to have this problem sometimes and safe mode always seemed to work.

Thank you. Just cause I'm curious, can you tell me why putting windows into safe mode worked?
