I was wondering if it was possible to replace an animation for a summon with a movie file.
Or maybe editing the animation so it only plays the outcome, like Bahamuts Megaflare hitting the enemies but before that happens a movie file is played.
Like this video here.
Well, JUST like this video here is what I described.

It looks nice sure, but would you REALLY want to sit through that every time you summoned Bahamunt? :-P

It would need coding into the game.

The actual animation is longer anyway. And besides you can edit movies. Remember having to sit through KOTR? It would be nice to be able to record the animation, shorten it, then replace it.

Nice. Do you know how to do that?

No joke...
As per the question, I'm sure it's possible. Awhile back I asked what Qhimm thought of a program that hooked to movies much in the same manner FF7Music hooks for music files, so that the 16-bit/low-res limitations would be removed. Completely ignored of course, though I'm sure you could see the aesthetic advantage of such a program. Such a program would also be able to do this by simply locating the animation files and replacing them instead with the movie. It would probably look like a hack job as the movie would look much different than the normal battle style would, but it's certainly possible.
