abilities from the Gf can be altered easily in kernel.bin look in the forum and you will see some guidance i can help you but not in the mood atm unless you really want to, plus weapon ingredients can be altered to make farming abit harder and worth it also the weapons stats everything can be altered to make the game great but sadly the only problem is the stupid AI soo easy it hurts....and soo generic  some guys here tried to figure how to change the ai in c0m.dat files but not much info is shared the only person shared his finding is randomNPC and he is offline for years now

I'm currently working on an enemy AI ripper so you guys can study the AI scripts in depth. I've been working on it for a long time, actually, because I'm pretty busy on RL and it goes really slow (it's been stopped for about 3 or 4 months...), but I could get a very basic, alpha release in a few weeks so you can start studying the AI.

I can't understand why do you have so little karma Alyza... Very nice work

Thanks for the reply and for the correction where to put the tonberry contents.
Unfortunately, game wont run with d3d9.dll in the directory. No crash thing, it just don't start at all.  :|

It seems to be an OS related problem, a lot of people is having this very same trouble too. It seems Windows 10 is having a lot of trouble with DirectX9, it seems Micro$oft is not giving much support for now... My best advice is to get back to W7...

Why do the Democrats do it?  Can anyone tell me?  I mean, are they deliberately trying to create a terror attack?  ISIS have made the threat that they will bomb America and then the Democrats want to welcome unvetted immigrants from Syria and elsewhere—and AFTER Paris.

Are they insane, or are they deliberately doing it?  If so - Why?

That's how this global world works dude. The general idea is to panic people, and under the pretext of combat terrorism, put a set of laws that restricts more and more our freedom, so we reach a police state. And we're supposed to be conformed with it because it is "for our safety".  And if someone opposes to this, or disputes it, he will be considered a paranoid or even a terrorism sympathizer. I know you don't agree with my ideals, but it's just my opinion, based on what I've seen and the world's history during the last 100 years.

The US does not charge into countries saying "Jesus is Great" or other religious sabre rattling - Islamic terrorists do.
...

No, they charge into countries saying "Money is Great".

You make it sound like Middle East was a bastion of peace and tranquility, and those pesky Americans came along and destroyed it.  No. It's a hell hole where Christians, homosexuals, women, minorities, and other ideologies (especially athiesm), are subjugated or wiped out.

I strongly encourage you to investigate more about socialist republics on middle east during the soviet union times. Islamic regime did that, as you said, but how they came to power is the main point. As I told you before, I cannot debate with you in equal footing because of my low english level in comparison with you, so the most I can do is telling you my point of view the best I can and trust you'll take it into account.

(BTW, I'm not directing any of this personally at you JeMaCheHi, and I mean no offense. I am just generalizing because this is how I speak and am too lazy to reword it in a way that it is clearly not directed at anyone in particular.)

No prob dude, I take no offense, and I don't mean it neither. I usually have this kind of debates with friends, but you know, they're way easier when you have them in your native language. I tend to sound really rough in english hahaha.
Anyway I doesn't blame only US, our Spanish (fascist) government (and our fascist president Aznar) followed GW Bush to Iraq like a filthy pug, for example. France and UK are accomplices of US war crimes too. And not to mention Germany... But you cannot deny that US is the head on all this crap.

@DPLB,
Very well, I'm gonna try to respond your arguments, but I cannot hold a debate on an equal footing because my native language is not English, and I'm not that good with the language. Also, I don't intend to offend anyone, so if anyone feel offended I apologize from this very moment.

So, when I say "this is not about religion" I'm not saying that religion has nothing to do with this, obviously it has. But religion has always been a mass control instrument, not a finality but a tool. And it sounds funny to me when you say Christianism is "a much more tolerant religion than Islam", since christian church has commited the largest genocide in the mankind history, from the middle ages to this time. To mix Christianity and tolerant in the same sentence should be a crime, in fact. Anyway the point here is that religion is not the ultimate cause of this.

To understand what I mean when I say that USA is the culprit, we have to go back to the 70s. During the Cold War, US government needed to stop Soviet Union expansion to the south. Yeah, their expansion and influence to Afghanistan. What did US government? They started to fund rebel factions, and coup d'etats to remove the socialist government. Guess you know they was the ones who trained Bin Laden ah? Obviously their ally was and always will be Saudi Arabia. Here you got a couple of pics dude:

Your president Reagan with the fanatics of Saudi Arabia:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_-TICiq_l6M/U-W_HP9Go_I/AAAAAAAABEI/sSfEWPUm1Ks/s1600/s_a17_00reagan.jpg

And here you can see how the journals praised the Anti-Soviet hero that the CIA itself trained:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B8zrhkcIgAAhT6n.jpg

Cool ah? Now take a look at this photos, the first is a sight of the socialist kabul, and the second the same city after the allies of USA raided it:

After: http://www.editoweb.eu/nicolas_maury/photo/art/default/5720418-8529061.jpg?v=1374678221

And what do you think about women's freedom? Here you have another before and after photos:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oG0s1d0rkbY/Tvu8LOsJfuI/AAAAAAAAASk/Qev2-4GRfa4/s400/kabulunivstudents87.jpg
http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Guardian/About/General/2009/8/1/1249157752758/Women-in-Islamic-dress-we-001.jpg

And to end with Afghanistan, a sample of what those "freedom fighters" did to the democratically chosen president. This photo is a strong image so if you're sensitive don't see it:
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kcj3FpLQmV4/UlWCjYXheLI/AAAAAAAADFw/_LySIwRmS-E/s1600/000_APP2001092599027_m.jpg

I have a lot more of pics of women going to university, walking free on the streets... and much more, but I think you can do your own research from that point. I also have lots of press articles praising the terrorists, which was driving out the "barbaric" communists, but they're in spanish so it has no point to post them here. Anyway, where do I want to get with all this photos? Well, you can see how North America started an Islamic revolution, how they give them power, and how the whole europe sat down and watched, not doing anything at all. Why? Obviously, the reason is the one we all know. Oil. Petroleum. The same happened in Libya with Gadafi, the same happened in Iraq with Hussein, and the same is happening now in Syria with Al'Asad. It's all the time the same sh*t. USA is running out of natural resources and they need more. USA sends CIA to fund some rebel faction to break nation stability. USA invades the country to "save" the poor poor little citizens. USA steal all the natural resources they can. Of course, with the support of their european allies and the Saudi Arabia sheikhs.

This is why I say that this has nothing to do with religion, because the fact behind this is not religion but oil control. You obviously have the point when you say that the lower integrants of daesh acts for the sake of their religion, their god, or whatever. BUT, the real fact is that this happened because the energetic resources control, not for letting Islam to grow free. In fact, I have muslim friends here in my city who say this is crazy, this is just a radical interpretation of the Qur'an, but not the majority one. By the way, my city is on red alert, they threatened to attack us after they attack Paris so... we're next.

And you shouldn't do that fast asseverations DLPB, because shows your lack of global vision.

Oh, just a cool link to keep the topic:

Paris: What happens when you allow a crazy religion to thrive and have no border controls.

If you think this happened because of religion you know nothing. I'd better say "Paris: What happens when you allow USA to intervene anywhere, anytime, for the sake of capitalism." And it's ironic the fact that they're killing us with the weapons we sold them.

Anyway, back to the topic, funny cover:

Thanks Shunsq, I appreciate the support :)

I had a preliminary version back in March and I used a thrown-together hashing tool to confirm that it would work. The issue was that the textures I had to work with (before I lost them all ), even as many as there were, didn't come close to the full set.

Yeah, we have a large number of textures that have been used in different mods, but even if we had them all in one place it wouldn't be enough. The problem is that the textures we don't replace in any mods are as important--perhaps even more so--than the ones we do; without them we could unwittingly end up with tons of unforeseen collisions and then you'd start seeing the replacement textures all over the place, or they would end up behind the scenes in palette textures, masks, etc.

The reason the new hashing algorithm was never released was because I didn't want people to start using it before the pixel set was solid. Each time the hash algo changes in any way, all of the hashmap CSV's for every mod have to be changed. This means a lot of work for modders who have to keep up with each iteration and a lot of confusion for players who wonder why the hashmap for one mod works great while another causes problems. Maybe this decision was a mistake. Maybe, as I mentioned in my last comment, it would be possible to define the pixels used in the hash externally, such that modders and players could have more control over the set.

Fortunately, FatedCourage has done an incredible job collecting textures from a playthrough of the entire game, and as of today he's gotten all of them to me: a grand total of 293,848 textures collected through Tonberry's debug feature. Obviously a ton of these will be duplicates, but through the same analysis I did earlier this year we should be able to start making headway on a good pixel set. Stay tuned.

Glad to hear you're still working on this mav. I'm currently pretty busy on RL so I'd be a burden, more than a helpful hand on this. Actually, I was working on a full research about enemies AI that is at standby for now. But I still come here to read your progress guys(also take a peek at github so keep syncing your code :I)
Keep it up everyone! :D

I completely forgot to upload the new changes to the application... there you have the 0.2

So glad my decompiled script was useful! It's remarkable the fact that the scenario stops deformation after worm sorceress appearance... at some point. Also, the background continues spinning on every other stage. So... we still don't know how the engine manages that ah?

JeMaCheHi,
You could write a software for code(AI script) decompile. :3

Yeah, that was my intention, but first I need to decypher every opcode used in scripts, since each one has a certain number of bytes after, and there are a bunch of them that are being specially hard to figure them out. However, now I started with school stuff and have not that much free time... Furthermore, I have no idea about how to do a compiler/decompiler. But it will be eventually done, ... maybe with a bit of teamwork it would be easier.

Break into SquareEnix and steal FF8 engine source code. Many will pay you for this, and that'd be so much fun.

Yeah, live editing is undoubtedly faster, but having an ASM-like scripting makes things much clearer and helps me to think faster and focus on my goal.

You say it's just little endian (off course it is, it's a PSX game), but 0x007 PSHN L, with let's say a value of 3, is 03 00 00 07 unlike 0x128 RESETGF like I said which is 28 01 00 00. That's why I said it was confusing, the identifier isn't in the same place at all just because there's an argument, I'm suspecting.

Are you sure you're not missing something? Everything is stored as little endian, from what I've learned in the last years. Also the opcode is always before  the argument...

I really love it. The ticker font gives an incredible deepness effect. Also, at least for me, it keeps my eyes more relaxed, I have less fatigue when reading your font samples. Thanks for your work :D

As I told you in my first post, the best tool you can use is Deling, which is far better and newer than Garden. To find JSM files you have to open and load the field.fs which contains all stuff related to fields. There you'll find a script editor to directly edit scripts, and a file explorer that you can use to extract *.jsm files if you wish. If you still want to edit the scripts in hex, then you have to know that everything is stored as little-endian, so 0x145 would be represented as 45 01 00 00.

To figure out how the game keeps active characters while kicks'em out of party, you'd probably want to study in game scripts and see how it works. I also recommend you to search on the wiki all the OPCODES you don't know about, Shard and myst6re did a magnificent work on it. Most of stuff I know about scripting is thanks to them.

You should take a look at ff8 field scripting: http://wiki.qhimm.com/view/FF8/FileFormat_JSM
Also take a look at opcodes: http://wiki.qhimm.com/view/FF8/Field/Script/Opcodes
To edit field scripts you can use myst6re's Deling: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=13050.0

With this info you can basically play around with everything. To do what you want, you'd probably want to look at fields where party are switched to Laguna's (Balamb-Timber train, Timber forest...) and look for the event that change current party/junctions/money.

Hope it helped  ;D

Wow, pretty cool. I love the mirror effect on the knife :D Could you post more points of view?

Thank you for your report JeMaCheHi, this glitch appeared to affect all FR/IT/ES/DE versions. I updated the software, should now work normally. Just bring the FF8_ES.exe.bak and repatch again. :)
Also, if you tried to patch the EXE twice, you probably rewritten your .bak with faulty version. I already fixed it to NOT overwrite backups.

This patch applies only to world map [as far as I was testing, this operations are fired only on world map segment postload]. Are G.Fs also bad UV'ed?

Sorry for the late reply, my windows 7 install went crazy and I had to reformat and reinstall everything u.u
I just tried your new version and... still crashing on world map. Please if someone else tried this on a non english version, post it if you're running it without trouble.
Maki, if you need me to send you any file, or even my help with something, just PM me or whatever you want.

21
As I always say.... you're a god of hacking bro. Thank you very much for this. However, and I hate to say it, this is not working for Spanish version (as usual, our version is messing up stuff). If you patch it, the game will crash with an unhandled exception as soon as you go to worldmap. BTW, the spanish exe is FF8_ES.exe, I just say it in case it's useful info for future reference.

Am I the only one who thinks the main problem for people that know any FF very well is AI? I would love to have more intelligent enemies, and I remember there was a topic and a "demo" about this, with Elvoret casting Zombie and things like that. THAT is what would add an entire new dimension and feeling to the gameplay. That project probably went vaporware but someone should really resume that idea, it's the most interesting modification to the gameplay.
Just imagine bosses casting Curaga to themselves at the right time, throwing Dispel at you, playing around with Reflex, finding out what element you're weak to, etc.

I love the fact that you can become very powerful with the right Junction, so why not just leave it as it is and change the enemies. Making Junction less powerful would feel like playing chained.

The other thing (which IIRC is harder to do) is making enemies to have fixed stats, so a no-level-game is not a joke and (most importantly) is not the easiest way to beat the game.
Anyway, I agree on the magic thing too. So for me it is:

* enemies AI
* enemies fixed levels/stats
* powerful magics (so they have a direct use)

To change enemies AI is still unreachable. I studied it several times, and I already have a bunch of opcodes known, and lots of scripts extracted, formated, and translated to pseudocode, but still, there's a lot unknown about it. Maybe when everything is propperly researched we could do an AI editor similar to Deling's field script editor.

True
Thanks hehe. It's like.. when they re-re-released the PC versions for VII and VIII. Why did they released them with crappy MIDI music? Because they can.
Anyway, back to topic, I think everyone here legally owns a PSX copy of FFVII. Why to pay again for the same game when you can legally emulate it? Actually, I'm currently replaying it on my Oneplus with ePSXe, and wouldn't pay in my life for a "native" android version. AGAIN.

Damn I really really hate this black bar completely stands out and ruins it for me, how is there no fix on this yet here? Isn't it possible to maybe just make black bar on top aswell and center the game make it seem 16:9?
Why to fix something when they know that everyone will buy it anyway? It would be wasted time and money.
