Read your other post and your reason is because it's Ultima edition, Which is both unsupported but most if not all patches (as well as here) and illegal, So pretty much no-one will help you out, Sorry to bring you the bad news.

In that case, do you know where to buy cheap copies of the game with CDs? I'm sure that would solve alot of my problems.

Troubleshooting / Re: Having some major graphic issues

Have you used high res patch? Since if your widescreen doesn't support higher than 1280x800 the high res patch will automaticly block you from playing since your screen wouldn't be supporting 1280x1024 (high res patch resolution).

If using the patch is the case, you will have to play without using it, then it should work fine (Atleast it does on my 15.4" widescreen laptop which has 1280x800).

I wasn't able to, even though I installed patch 1.02, which I got in a pack that came with it.

I don't think there is a spoiler function here.

What stat changes did you have in mind? I've always liked the idea of exaggerating the differences between the characters, creating something like a job system.

Well, if I type in small font : actually, I was coming up with ideas for the enemies already, but hear it goes.

Original in Black Font, Changed in Blue

See Terence Fergusson's party mechanics guide for information on how level ups and stat gains work (it's all in the first section). It's quite hard going for a newbie but it's essential reading for difficulty modders. Reading the enemy mechanics guide and the battle mechanics guide will come in handy as well.

Thanks, that was very helpful. Anyway to type in spoilers? I have some ideas about stat changes.

I think I got most mods to work, can't be sure yours did. The enemies hit like 15 or something. The amount of damage by starter enemies should be increased. The first few soldiers should be hitting at least 30. At least that way I would know it works or not.

I see. The thing to do would be :

-Increase stats for most Midgar enemies
-Lower health for some enemies, many of which come later
-Greatly lower stat growth per level
-Lower the exp inflation per each level
-Lower attack power of weapons and armor, except for starting equipment
-Increase the cost of powerful spells, particularly summons, lower power of some others
-Easy monsters appear more often than hard ones
-More and more .... creativity ....

In fact, lowering player stats may be an even better idea than raising enemy stats, though it would be very very controversial, as it would limit potential and possibilities. (eg: 5 digit health and damage good-bye).

PS : Does anybody know where a character stat sheet (per level) might be?

I have all the minimum requirements, including the 1.02 patch (which i can play now). For some reason, the patcher won't patch my exe.

I get Release Info:

Wrong File Size or Already Patched

Nothing Patched

Can anybody help me on this?

When I use your patch installer, I get this:

http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/1949/34269325.png

The patches I want, and placed in my patches folder are as follows:

9999LimitBreaking

TransparentDialogBoxes

HighwayAndSnowboardMinigamesFix

GyptInstant

I don't want the cheat mods that allow instant winds with Cait Sith / Tifa.

From what I read, Gypt Instant allows me to skip movies, so I should be able to skip the intro movie by pressing ctrl+s, which did not work. I tried using the installer, but it ran into a problem (look at image). My exe is ver.102 , if you needed to know.

The hand mod did work, but none of the others did unfortunately.

Sorry about that, it appears I just forgot another file, never mind.

PS: The SaiNt's High Res FF7PC Patch would not work either, even though i have ver 1.02 exe

HOW DO I INSTALL THIS PATCH? This came without a readme or instructions.

Also, are there any previews or anything?

PS: Are you going to continue to update this mod?

If so , may I make requests:

-Jenova Synthesis should be harder
-Tropic Wind should do damage comparable to Aqualung
-Different forms of sewer monsters (Crabs and Ghosts) for different places new opportunities for ghost hands
-Harder enemies in that hidden forest area
-Lower hp for human bosses , they do more damage instead of having high hp
-The Serpent in the lost shinra plane (underwater) should do more damage
-Only the serpent and squid enemies should appear in most of it, other than the area with treasure chest (really good item)
-New Ghosts could go in forest around bone village, new crabs can go by the beach around bone village
-Midgar enemies should do significantly more damage, add more potions and items if needed
-An Osmose Materia (absorbs MP), oh wait, isn't there an absorb already? Could Osmose be added to it?
-Combine this mod with SceneRedux, since they are not compatible together (must replace scene.bin either way)

I actually havn't tested this yet, as I couldn't get my game working.

Am I allowed to reply to this?

Great idea. I know there are mods out there already that improve the game.

One goal is to make editing the game easier.

That is an idea.

One way would be to lesson how strong your characters become, by lowering the level difference.

To explain what I mean, an example would be for level 99 health to be only ten times that of the level 5 health. Smaller stat gains is what I am suggesting, in combination of really easy enemies and bosses getting higher stats. Some enemies and bosses getting lower stats in order to prevent the game from being impossible or too tedious.

Completely Unrelated / Re: FFVII Ultima Edition Illegal?
« on: 2009-03-22 04:36:51 »
I have been wondering this too. I don't have a PC version, but I want one for the mods. I played this game a million times, I totally overplayed it. But it was quite a while ago, and it looked fun after looking at peoples' playlists of the game. Mods, such as the one making it harder, and allowing 5 digit damage, would make the game significantly better than the original.

Any help?

Hooray!  :-)

Programs that let you edit FF7 without any programming abilities.

Any for enemy/character stats?

I was looking into getting FF7 for PC, as I was interested in the modding, particularly the harder game, 5 digit damage/health, keeping Aerith, and better graphics.

I have two sources :

1) Copies of the pc version of the game, that cost between 75 - 300 $$$. Totally overpriced, and I am not going to pay that much for an old game that I have overplayed so many times.

2) A pirated torrent download. I never managed to figure out how to download torrents, and they contain viruses, and are probably illegal and/or pirated material.

Are there legal alternatives that are either low cost or free? If not, is there a pirated source that is easy to download and use, without any risk of viruses are system problems?

I found this here :

[link removed after reading rules]

Do I need any programs to use these? Is it legal?
