O_o Try Installing previous GFX Card drivers I know that helped for me horrible framerate issue.

EDIT: DO NOT change Aali's driver just GFX Card...
Yes, I could but I don't complain for my pc's performance but for the slow down between 0.7.3b and 0.7.5b. Now I play happily with minor postprocessing but if there are reasons for the slow down and the greate Aali solve the problem I will be much happier with highest postprocessing filter and also people with poor performance pc will be happier ;D
Furthermore, I think, if a little problem was discovered between nearest versions it's more simple to reveal and correct it instead of wait and the check all the code with a big history change.
I'm a programmer and I think so but if I hurt someone, I ask excuse.
Bye,
    Rigel

p.s.  A little question? Is it possible to reduce battle gui? It could be wonderful if I can set in option file screen coord x,y and width/high dimensioning also without maintain gui's aspect ratio  :-D

Arrgg No I mean I personally experienced a performance increase in FF7 when I went from the newest nvida driver to a previous one 182.50 is what I use and it runs flawlessly thank Aali!

Hosting has been flaky lately because of some renovation work in an adjacent building causing random power outages.

d33eniz, AngeBleu: For some reason some program writes .p files using a (mis)feature that was never used in original FF7 data. The D3D driver just happens to support this while I chose not to. The end result is that the custom driver ends up interpreting the y normal coordinate for a given vertex as the color for that vertex (The end result is usually a model that looks more or less like a rainbow). Fix the model and the message goes away.

Hi,
I try new nvidia driver 197.13 but never change, movies is also black with many frame skip. But it's only my problem or someone else have this issue? Otherwise I still don't bore to you.
However, it's possible to have a postprocessing filter in world map and an other in battle where with 15 fps run smootly.
Thanks

Hi! I'm new here and I'd like to thank you Aali for the driver, it's great.

But I have a problem.
Whenever i try to set my screen resolution in ff7_opengl.cfg to 1280x1024,  I save the file but there is no change at all.
The resolution keep the crappy 640x480.

I've applied the driver in a new fresh instalation of the game.

Anyone have any idea of what I'm doing wrong?

Have you tried opening Notepad as an Administrator before editing the cfg file? As in, right click on Notepad, Run as Administrator? Then simply navigate to your FF7 folder and open the cfg file, edit, and it should save.

Yes..the modifications I do are saved...but still no chages...

By the way..I'm using windows 7...

Run FF7Config.exe and set the graphics tab to "custom driver"

New driver is working fine for me, but:

Forced linear filtering for external textures in the menu, this will make all that menu text look a whole lot better.
Fixed a possible crash on exit.

This isn't visible in my game at all. Menu text still looks the same, even if I turn linear filter on.

EDIT: Oh, but it's just for external textures. Nevermind then.

In regards to FF8 / FFVIII ,

Using the driver the following is observed...

The game's FPS' go down, to temp resolve, one has to open up the game menu and apon exiting the menu the game runs as it should: smooth. However, should you enter a new screen the problem reoccurs.

Allows transparency for external textures. Like the menu aspects of avalanche overhaul. Allows things like anti-aliasing.

Custom graphics driver for FF7/FF8 [v.1-.7.6]
Hello, I've recently reinstalled FFVII and since last time I played it the custom driver was working so well, I tought I'd use it again. However, it seems like the driver is not working, nor I can't provide further information as the APP.log file is empty. The steps I did were the following:

-Install the driver as instructions
- Run as admin the FFconfig and select custom driver in the graphics tab
-Run as admin the notepad to edit the cfg options
-Run as admin FF7.exe

However, it looks like the game is still using the software rendering over Aali's driver, anyone has some ideas?

My OS is windows 7 64 bit and the videocard I am using is a radeon hd5870.

EDIT: Also, while in game the character portraits in the menu, look all jagged on their edges.

looks like your following all the steps...

you know it doesn't provide a HUGE boost right? it just makes sure that your driver isn't f**king around with the game, but my advice is give it a try one more time.

when you used FFconfig and switched to custom driver, did you click the exit button, or did you click the little X in the corner, because i know that can mess it up

I'm trying to use this driver with ff8 but the backgrounds and text are sooo ugly... 3d models are fine and I get no black boxes, I can see debug info and fps if set, so game is using aali driver, but it just shows so many pixelized stuff...
Using postprocessing (bloom2) improves this a bit, but creates huge white shadows all around. Median PP is better, but still far from perfect.
What settings do you use to run ff8 decently?
I wonder if forcing AA through nvidia cp (vista x64) is working or not...
