Hello I have been trying for ages to get this to work to no prevail, I have the latest aali's driver 07.11b need confirmation if all the options are correct.

Code: [Select]
# ff7_opengl-0.7.10b config file

## USER OPTIONS ##
## If you just want to play the game, these are the only options you'll want to

change.

# set the window size (or fullscreen resolution) of FF8
# 0 means use original resolution (whatever ff7.exe provides)
# preserve_aspect adds black borders as needed to preserve a 4:3 aspect ratio
window_size_x = 1920
window_size_y = 1080
preserve_aspect = NO
fullscreen = yes

# mod directory
# subdirectroy of mods/ where textures will be loaded from
# does not affect the old external textures feature, those should still go in

textures/
mod_path = mods

# check your driver settings if this option doesn't seem to work
enable_vsync = yes

# allow FF8 to use linear filtering for its textures
# some things look slightly better with this option on, but alot of textures just lose

their detail
linear_filter = off

## ENHANCEMENTS ##
## All the little extras that weren't part of the original game, default options

include only trivial bug fixes.

# post-processing shader, used to apply fullscreen effects
post_source = shaders/bloom2.post
enable_postprocessing = no

## ADVANCED OPTIONS ##
## Don't fiddle with these unless you know what you're doing.

# use shaders, if available and supported
# turn shaders off to use the OpenGL 1.1 backend
use_shaders = yes

# prevent glitches due to rounding errors by rendering in the nearest (larger, if

supported)
# multiple of the original resolution and up/down-scaling
prevent_rounding_errors = yes

# enable alpha blending for textures without an existing blending effect
fancy_transparency = on

# display frames per second counter in upper right corner
show_fps = no

# display some real-time debug information
show_stats = no

# store external textures in a compressed cache for increased performance
# compression is not lossless, some artifacts may appear when this option is in use
# texture cache does NOT update automatically if the source image changes, however,

deleting anything from the cache
# will cause that file to be recreated from the source
compress_textures = yes

# use pixel buffer objects to speed up texture loading
# will probably crash horribly on ATI cards but should work for NVIDIA users
use_pbo = no

I have made sure that I have hi res fonts on in the ff8 config and I have done a straight cut and past job of the mod into the into the mods folder
so I can not figure out why this is not working. Thank you for any help in advanced.

Code tags make the world go less tedious to scroll through. ~Covarr

« on: 2013-11-20 20:25:34 »
Well the download links from guru send me to AMD page, one of them sends me to version2 and the other is unavailable. i cant seem to find links for either of these drivers elsewhere. But thats alright i can play without shaders. Thanks for your support anyway (:

UPDATE: ok during the raid on midgar on disc2 when battling rude and the others my game crashes with an error message... is it because of the drivers?

You have a unhandled error message those usually come with some error number, if it did would be useful to know what that error number is.

I am having a problem with the in-game volume controls not working. No matter where I adjust the slider to, the music volume remains the same.

Have you tried using the volume control in the music mod itself because I believe that the mod overrides the game music controls.

thanks for such a prompt reply! forum is very active I see, it was a good idea to register

I will try some other resolutions by playing with the cfg, but I had set it to my monitors res, 1360 x 768. could this be my fatal mistake? what should it be set to?

my copy is the first Squaresoft release (long live the original Square!)

as to the configurator, I watched the tutorial video and saw the first thing to do after a clean install was to download that configurator and run it, is that old news, should I bypass that and go straight to using the frontend? I am at the moment downloading the mods I have selected with the bootleg config

EDIT: I had to check and make sure I didn't do anything dumb, but yes, on the tutorial page it says "Step 1: Read, download, and run the latest version of FF7 Game Converter." and after I downloaded and ran it is when I started getting problems even opening the game

EDIT:so I tried to change the res in the cnf and the ff7 cfg, I get the same result, just different sizes now. it will flash a black screen (or window) and say it has stopped working and then close.
I suppose ill uninstall again and fresh install again and just skip that step and go from clean install directly to installing mods using the BootLeg Configurator and see it it goes any better

Yeah game convertor is not needed if you got the bootleg frontend because bootleg installs all the nescessary files that game convertor does, and just be sure to install it in a non system folder.

hello, this looks to be an amazing project, I researched it and am ready to give it a go. However I fail upon Step 1 outlined in this tutorial.

I mount install image and install fine, I install old video drivers fine. I test play and everything works fine as in original.

then I download the required  FF7_GameConverter_0.9b.exe as specified in tutorial outline and install in game root directory. here -> http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=14047.msg196959#msg196959 it states you should run the game once before applying any mods with the bootleg.

I check as admin and proceed to run, BUT I get an error stating there is a error and cant run full screen/ reverting to original resolution. I click ok and then it say that the application has stopped working and it closes the program.

I have tried all number of settings in the ff7 config in attempts to get it working so I can then add the redone character models ect, but im either met with the same failure, or it fails to open anything whatsoever.

any help at all is much appreciated, shoot me a PM, im happy to answer any questions about my process of install ect. thanks

When FF7 says it can not run in full screen I found out that it tends to be that you set the game screen resolution to exceed your monitor resolution so it converts it back to the original resolution.

Now the biggest question here is what version of the game are you using, is it the 1997 version, the re-release from Square Enix or the Steam version, because when you said you mounted the install image fine, and then used game convertor that is when things started to get confusing.

Also it would be best to answer your questions here because if any other person has similar problems they can look it it up here and hopefully find some answers.

Wutai is enforced to be on Disc 1 and before Temple of the Ancients in this mod. You cannot start the keystone quest before you finished Wutai. I forgot if I made the Pagoda optional but it's possible I didn't or only made the last floor optional.

And I assume he means Raps, Conero's second pet ( And Wutai is near the end of CD1. It could also be he means wallmarket and Apps but that wouldn't fit with halfway-through-CD1 )
you shouldn't be able to get past the new bosses ( like, in Shinra HQ, the triple named soldier battle from Gjoerulvs Hardcore mod. Unless you have the scene set up correctly, the game would crash or start some kind of bogus battle ) if you replace the scene.bin

Just don't tamper with the mod install unless you really know how the files work together and what you're doing.

Just cleared Demons gate in the Temple of the Ancients Cloud at level 64 and still not run into any problems. What I acually done was fresh install of FF7 tehn bootlegged FF7 with nightmare conversion and the other mods I wanted, after that I proceeded to bootleg FF7 again but this time with all gameplay mods changeable including hardcore mod. So at the mo I am play it with the great chang4es of nightmare conversion but with lost wing difficulty and I have had no troubles.

8
This will not work for the entire game
Namely, whenever you have to fight a 'new' ( not in vanilla ff7 ) boss, the game will crash and you wont be able to proceed
This is because you swapped out the scene.bin with another one with the bootleg re-install.

I am not going to support any problems that arise from messed up installs.

Well so far I have had no problems and I am just about to fight apps in wauti so I am half way through disk 1, so I will let you know when I have finished disk 1 for witch your mod works up too let you know if there has been any crashes.

I have nvidia geforce 9600 gt (old, i know)
i keep getting a crash, event viewer specified file nvd3dum.dll failure.
do you know of a good version of this file that works?

Try this fella  this is a link that give you to the latest version of drivers for your card witch should also fix your .dll file problem

Found something pretty intresting today I had ff7 installed on my pc bootlegged with nightmare conversion, then preceded to install bootleg again with all mod changing with Aries revival. This leads to some good effects, you get to keep the knightmare conversion with the changes made in that mod like character following and changes to the games text and the hidden items and extras, but the difficulty is changed to that of the phoenix rejuvination mod so in the end if want all the other great changes made by the nightmare mod but finding it too hard bootleg over the bootleg and have the best of all worlds ;D

Bootleg Questions / Re: [WIP] Tifa's Package
« on: 2013-10-22 19:48:21 »
Did you actually try downloading the torrent? ISP's cant block p2p file sharing. They can track and monitor them, but since you're downloading a legal file they wont care. I'm a Network Engineer and work closely with these people, believe me they couldn't care less about Qhimm and the Tifa torrent. By the way, when you're told not to repackage and post someone elses files on their thread it means take it down, not do it again.

Yeah I did and it keeps coming up can download not allowed, it all depends on what country you are in and your internet provider I am in England that I don not think is the problem it is my internet provider witch is blocking it because they have been given permission  to block p2p file sharing.

On another note who are you to tell me to take down the link I provided.

« on: 2013-10-22 18:25:58 »
  • Your download link doesn't work for me.
  • The latest version of Anxious Heart is included in my torrent.
  • Don't include any versions of Bootleg with the package.
  • Your file size is larger because you've probably packaged in all the alternate links for the same mods. FacePalmer alone will add an additional 6+ GB for adding it's two alternates.
  • It's really not cool to come into my threads (you did it in Tifa's Bootleg also) and respond to people's troubleshooting by telling them to download your package. Talk to me first before you release it.
  • Don't be afraid of me.

Actually I did not say download mine, I said this is an alternative means of a download as some people have trouble with torrents, I am one of those some internet providers block p2p file sharing so can not use torrents.  Also the link is fine just tried it.

If you downloaded any of my links, then you're golden.

is this ever going to support the latest Gpu drivers for nvidia OR AMD?
cause i can't get my drivers to stay rolled back to the ones that work -_-
it ALWAYS updates after like a couple days to 327.23
and then boom! i can't run FFVII untill i roll back to the ones that work -_-
it's very annoying
any chance this'll get worked to to support the newest gpu drivers?

I am running bootlegged FF7 on an amd 7990 hd with the latest drivers no problems running at 70 fps, and it it run on my laptop sporting a 780m with the latest drivers no problems as well what is the exact problem with the new drivers then.

I though this may help people out I have uploaded bootleg40 with nearly all mods to a very good file hosting site that has a great upload and download speeds even for free users here is the package. 26.5 giga bytes I would use J downloader if downloading this.

haven't play FFVII with the bootleg since few month

Does the english to french translation has been fixed for the  digital version of FFVII from the square-enix website?

Cause last time the translate  wasn't working (even with or without the REtranslation)

Not sure on that you need to ask pit, also though have you run kramers convertor to change the re-release to the 1997 version I believe that tool is on the big list of mods that may help as well here is the link.

http://www.mediafire.com/?yeacw1v0uf6d9av

There is also a french translation patch by square themselves you need to look it up on the mods list because it is a direct download.

20
Okay ... so.

I went through with the installation and customization options, but I can't seem to get the modded version of the game to boot fully. I got the updated hero model textures, and that's about it. What have I done wrong? Is this a common problem.

There's no section that tells you what to do AFTER installation with the Bootleg Configuration Tool.

Thanks for the help!

Post app log please,it will help us to help you.

21

Have you checked that you have pointed the ff7 config file to pick up your sound card from the look of the app log that look like the problem the game is no picking up your sound card.
