Okay so, ff8 does not launch, it crashes after eidos logo. Normally this is not because of my data changes, because the version 0.7.9b works well.

Everything in that video was familiar one way or another EXCEPT for the "Huge Sephiroth" scene.
Is this a scene that belongs to BLACKBGG or BLACKBGF?

It's in mds7pb_1, with a fade opcode to black colour. I noticed in this field that the 3D model of sephiroth was present.


Too cool, myst6re! Why do you call it "Toriyama's scene"? How did you get these all to work again, exactly?

All fields in this video was created by Toriyama. It's visible in field data and all field are accessible via the toriyama's debug room. I'm not sure but I think he is the author of these scenes...

But what about ripping the script from the DAT files?

You can use Makou Reactor for that, try "File -> Open Field Dir (PS)". With this menu you can open dat files in a directory.

Edit 2:
Some informations here looks a bit weird. It says section4 : unknown, section5: Ai scripts?; section10=sounds and section 11=textures, but if you take the common galbadian soldier for example, headers 4 & 5 are the same, and so are headers 10 & 11.

Although section 4 starts at the same position as section 5, there are still 11 sections. It simply means that section 4 is empty.

Okay, thank you for your replies, I watched Mr. Adults' tools, and "mesh2rdm" supports battle models. I also saw that "Noesis" read them very well.
I'm going to ask how MrAdults did it.

I can't help for the model section, but if you need some informations about the AI section, you can ask me.

I'm interested, I will think when the time comes because I want to completely fill the page on the wiki.

I currently working on the dat files of Final Fantasy VIII. So I put everything on the wiki I found on theses files:

Normally, there is no way to modify a PS1 save from the PSP. But it seems possible with a cracked PSP.

- also, if you want to get all cards or all items, it can be a pain to check all the boxes and type 100 next to each one. Would it be possible to add two buttons : one to get one of each item / card, and another to get 100 of each item / card ?

I found a display problem with ff8:


The glass is transparent. I looked in ff8 data, so this glass is drawed with blendType = 2, and BGSHADE opcode was called.

Oh, and is there a hope that the next version correctly displays battle transitions?

Maybe a bug report.

I was browsing in colne_b1 and looking at the field models.   Both a materia and potion appear in this scene, except, when trying to view the potion, it doesn't load anything.  It just stays at whatever model was last selected.

I was also wondering if the animations they load are supposed to display that shine effect they do in the game?

I have no problem. Are you sure that you have not modified char.lgp?
And Makou don't show shine effects.
